We are going to Alton towers
Wish I’d held off booking tickets as the weather is much better on Sunday than Saturday
And we have to wear masks on the rides

@Lipz

I'm in Ireland, is your pub opening going to be the same as ours was.... Book in advance, 1hr 45 mins in the seat then leave. Food spend must be a min of 9 euro. No food no drink! Or can you go for as long as you like?
As long as we like. Pubs are allowed to reopen at 6am tomorrow.

They will have social distancing, compulsory seating etc but a lot seems to come down to the individual venue to decide how it’s done

My plan is to have my bingo card ready for the threads likely to come up on the day itself. The one about Subway staff not being muzzled - sorry, masked gave me some ideas.

Thanks for that Sirzy

Aquarium!

SummerDayWinterEvenings · 03/07/2020 19:27

Our local pub was wanting £20 to book a table for an hour regardless of what you wanted to eat and drink -per person!!! So much social media backlash it's not happening now apparently. They said "Due to social distancing we have half the number of tables available hence the surcharge -but given the large demand (AKA backlash) we have decided this isn't necessary" - bugger that.

I'm off to form a bubble with my parents -the kids and I are going to stay (I'm a single parent so can do this) and then I'm coming home with 1 but leaving 2 there!

lynsey91 · 03/07/2020 23:11

Staying home doing some decorating then in the evening cooking a nice meal and watching tv or a dvd.

We don't really go to pubs as neither of us drink much and would rather have a glass of wine or beer at home anyway.

We don't very often eat out either as we both like cooking and are pretty good at it, certainly as good as most of the places we have eaten in. I don't see how restaurants are going to work in all honesty. The waiter/waitress has to get fairly close to put your plate down/take it away etc. I also don't trust other customers to keep far enough away having seen how people are in supermarkets and in the street

H1978 · 04/07/2020 04:28

We’re going out for the day on Sunday, so staying home Saturday to catch up on housework I would normally have done over two days. Dd1 going over to her friends for a garden party they have planned because today would have been their leaving prom Sad

@sunshinesupermum

I work in a large NHS trust. We finally have no patients with covid in ITU and very few in the rest of the hospital. Rates of infection are low now. We need to get back to living again. The evidence for face coverings is very weak. Within the hospital in general I have noticed people are less likely to stay apart since they have had to start wearing masks everywhere. I will wear one in public transport but that is it. They really don't do much unless you are infected and are very close to someone. I have been coming to work and shopping throughout the pandemic. Good hand hygiene and physical distancing have kept me healthy.

phoenixearthworm · 04/07/2020 06:42

What is super Saturday ?

userxx · 04/07/2020 07:24

@phoenixearthworm the media have called today super Saturday, the day when pubs, restaurants, bars, cafes and hairdressers can finally open.

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/07/2020 07:48

Taking a desperate DS to the park. Going via our local independent coffee shop for something to give me the strength to stand in the cold/wet/wind and then coming home. I will also go and do the food shop as per normal.

Tomorrow we are going to a NT garden for a walk and picnic - hope the weather is better!

NoWordForFluffy · 04/07/2020 08:23

We're going to a National Trust place today. In weather-appropriate gear! ☔️ ☔️ ☔️

We've got a pub meal booked for DS' birthday in a few weeks, but I won't be running to them, even though they're open. Our local favourite one is tiny anyway, so I've no idea how they'll even manage to open with SD in place.

That's a great way to encourage the masses out to have fun without socially distancing.

StarlightLady · 04/07/2020 09:20

Early night Wink!

userxx · 04/07/2020 09:23

@phoenixearthworm The occasion was always going to be marked. The amount of work businesses opening today have had to put in place is unbelievable, they will be making sure their clients follow the rules or they are at risk of losing their licenses and reputation.

LollipopViolet · 04/07/2020 10:10

I live with a shielding person. So nothing planned today. I'm so fed up now, but have the absolute fear I'll catch it and bring it into the house if I do go out.

BiggerBoat1 · 04/07/2020 10:14

Staying home. No different to any other Saturday.

I think its madness that pubs have been allowed to open and just hope it doesn't lead us into a second spike in Covid cases.

Zisforstripyoss · 04/07/2020 10:15

We're not doing anything different. Finishing our fences & I'm going for run & then family film night later.

Katharinablum · 04/07/2020 10:21

See @redeyetonowheregood we are starting to get icu admissions with covid again. Had 2 yesterday, another sadly died yesterday too.
Yes things need to get back to normal, most people are at a low risk of becoming seriously ill with it, although some only mildly affected have experienced worrying long term effects. It's an unknown quantity at the moment and has a serious impact on all organs not just the lungs. Theres's a lot of needless catastrophising but poo pooing peoples fears is a bit disrespectful too.

whatswithtodaytoday · 04/07/2020 10:22

Nothing different. Some housework and mooching, MIL over for a garden visit later. Definitely not going anywhere near town.

I do think that the amount of people with the virus is very low at the moment and this is a reasonable time to start opening things up... but calling it Super Saturday is ridiculously irresponsible and will bring out the idiots. Why not open on a Monday and let the staff get used to things first, before dealing with drunken crowds.

TreacherousPissFlap · 04/07/2020 10:29

I'll be at work on a late shift. It's expected to be carnage, we are staffed as if it were NYE Confused

maddiemookins16mum · 04/07/2020 11:01

We’re pushing the boat out and going to Pets at Home for two sacks of cat litter.
I do have a hair cut booked for 01 August though yipppeeee.

happymummy12345 · 04/07/2020 11:05

My husband had to go back to work today so it's back to normal, me at home on my own with ds all day. Dh left at 8am and will be home between 10-11pm (slightly later starts and finishes at the moment which is nice). He's in all day again tomorrow so well and truly back to normal.

CarnageAtTheGardenCentre · 04/07/2020 11:12

We’re having a Tesco Finest meal deal.

Thoughts go out to all working later, I hope it won’t be as bad as it could be, if you get what I mean 💐💐x
