How long were your children in newborn size clothes?

Just that really. Finding it oddly stressful trying to figure out what clothes to buy for a baby I can’t see, that will only last five minutes anyway. Baby isn’t due till November and I would have just got a few bits and then bought when he was here, but lots of small baby stuff is still sold out due to covid panic buying (why?!) and I’d like to be a bit more prepared.
Basically will only need babygrows and bodies.

Can't remember how long 0-1month (H&M) was used but she was walking at 10 months and wearing 2-4/4-6 months so.... a while. She was a hair under 6lbs when she was born

DS1 was 9lb3 at birth and straight into 0-3, ds2 was 8lb15 so not hugely different but totally different build and 0-3 drowned him.

Thinking I was being clever second time around I had only bought 0-3 so every pic of him coming home etc looks ridiculous He was then in newborn for about 3-4weeks.

I’d buy a small selection of both nearer the time and send someone to swap if you need to, most shops are great about swapping baby clothes.

I also found that most people buying gifts bought a larger size so worth thinking about.

DS was full term but just under 6lbs, so was in tiny baby then new born for first 6-8 weeks.

DS1 5.3kg didn't ever fit newborn, DS2 4.5kg fit for a couple of weeks.

DS1, a long lean 8lb 10 straight to 0-3m
DS2 8lb 6 got a couple of packs of babygrows from the supermarket to tide him over for 2 weeks. He wasted no time in piling on the weight!

I had two babies before ever learning that there was a newborn size smaller than 0-3 months.
Both were 7lb and 0-3 wasn't too loose.

DS was 7lb 7 and was in newborn for about a month. I bought 6 vests and 6 sleepsuits in newborn and that did us just fine.
