justasking111 · 30/06/2020 19:31

Oh she is a teacher I think.

Dowser · 30/06/2020 19:33

@pickachew
Can we go along and demonstrate.
You me, BlackBerry violet, the great wave and rubber dinghy rapids.
Apologies if I missed anyone out.

I think if we turn up with dc and dh in tow..there’ll be at least 20 of us.

Imagine that on the ITV news😁

Dowser · 30/06/2020 19:37

I’ve just had a long text convo with a very dear ( dementor) friend.
We’ve had a nice dry day up here
Told her we’d been for a walk along the beach prom and shared chips with my grandson
Is he in your bubble she said
Not got a fucking clue..no idea what this bubble thing is..looking at the townsfolk..neither do they
The pub was doing a roaring trade
Did I wear a mask..no I said..no one does..so you’re apt to forget about it
Besides if they did, they’d have it u Dee their chin otherwise how would they get their Greggs pasty in their gobs.
Lol

LivinLaVidaLoki · 30/06/2020 19:43

Am I being thick? What does this actually prove?

AD's say "well open the playgrounds and swimming pools then you Malaka"
BakewellTarts · 30/06/2020 19:46

I saw that earlier and didn't get it either I thought Covid was a virus.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 30/06/2020 19:50

Not to mention you actually have to meet someone with covid to get it. You can't get it from someone who doesnt have it. As cases in the community dwindle the risk of actually meeting someone with it gets smaller and smaller....

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/06/2020 20:01

@countrygirl99

Insaneintheviralmembrane he would have you know he is from a very naice village in South Cambridgeshire😆
Well he would say that, wouldn’t he!? 😁
NUFC69 · 30/06/2020 20:01

Northumberland has under average deaths for the time of year according to the BBC chart; that will be because of the month or two earlier deaths in care homes. DH went cycling today and went through Ashington where there was a testing place run by the army: just three soldiers and no people at all.

I haven't been to Newcastle since the last football match, not even seen any photos of it. I can't imagine what it looks like. Dowser, we used to fly to Majorca in the winter out of Newcastle (used to love our out of season holidays there), but those flights went some time ago. If I can't fly out of Newcastle, we don't go, as I am not prepared to drive a couple of hundred miles before we even start.

TheGreatWave · 30/06/2020 20:02

But, but!!! Anyone could have it and Anyone could spread it.

And you might be asymptomatic or you might be incubating it.

Or you could just not sneeze or cough over everyone.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/06/2020 20:04

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Am I being thick? What does this actually prove?
What it proves is that in the current climate some people might stand 2’ away from someone coughing open-mouthed for 15 seconds. And yes, they’re talking about bacteria. But hey, like and share hun!

Re: island dementors. So one earlier who was fretting about the “almost non-existent risk”. “Do we count our dead in the 10s, 100s, or 1000s?”.

RobinHobb · 30/06/2020 20:07

@LivinLaVidaLoki

Am I being thick? What does this actually prove?
This is complete rubbish Ffs that's not how Petri dish of virus would look
torydeathdrug · 30/06/2020 20:07

I always open the windows in the car - just in case I get a super high viral dose by breathing my own concentrated virus air .... can't be too careful, have warned dh to do the same. Wouldn't want to risk catching it from myself, for all I know I could be an asymptomatic carrier Halo stay safe babes x

Willitneverend · 30/06/2020 20:09

I think the lockdown easing is unfortunately making some folk really bad.

Dowser · 30/06/2020 20:10

@mightbealittlebitmad

Didn’t a papaya and a goat test positive for covid
Or was that an urban myth

PickAChew · 30/06/2020 20:10

Yeah. Only 1 in 3600 people in my massive county have it. I've spoken to or walked past no more than 20 people today, so even if all 200 infected people were in the community, which we know they're not, the chances are significantly smaller than those of me tearing another ligament, going out of my way to give people a wide berth. (took me over a year to stop limping from the last time and I regularly fall over on that foot, now. I'd rather take my chances with covid.)

RobinHobb · 30/06/2020 20:12

I wandered into another thread by accident earlier - lockdown in Leicester. It has made my blood pressure go up.
Do teachers really think like this? Surely not. There must be some love of children to do this job.
Earlier today Dd2 fell down on the the gravel when I was dropping dd1 off to school. Her teacher - who only knows dd2 from drop off -came running back to check she was ok and give cuddles and make her stop crying (DD2 is only 2yo and cute as a button if I say so myself). She was fine it was only a tiny fall. But dd1 teacher didn't act as if me and baby were diseased, and you could see the love and care for kids shining through.
Don't really know the point I'm making her but I'm still shocked that teachers are acting as if they've being asked to go into the trenches

SomewhereEast · 30/06/2020 20:12

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel

I used to like Alice Roberts too, I think she's got smugger and more patronising as she got older and more promoted. I like the description of her below as the least scientific scientist ever - yup, that's about it.
I am quite Hmm at an anthropologist claiming to be "bemused" by normal people wanting to do Normal People Things like, you know, going the fuck outdoors.
torydeathdrug · 30/06/2020 20:14

re excess deaths - there will be a sweet spot where all those who would have died from flu etc this coming winter (& care home residents who died months too soon) have already died from covid (mortality displacement) but before excess deaths caused by lockdown - poverty associated illness, delayed diagnosis/treatment, missed vaccinations etc - really kick in. At that point we'll have strongly negative excess deaths ... if dh & I were terrible psychopathic bastards we might have made a bet on when that point will come.

Drivingdownthe101 · 30/06/2020 20:14
@Drivingdownthe101 so THAT’S how you do it, knew there was a knack! 🙄🤦‍♀️😂
We are dealing with world class dementors remember! They can twist everything Grin

torydeathdrug · 30/06/2020 20:19

I also saw one say ‘it’s sad that we have a ‘normal’ level of deaths’, which I can only assume means she thinks we should be aiming for immortality?

^jaw drop

Dowser · 30/06/2020 20:20

@NUFC69
Oops beg your pardon
Thought there was someone else
Yes I used to go to Manchester on the train for our virgin flights to Florida..but it added an extra day travel and the expense of an overnight in a hotel..but hey when my first marriage went pear shaped I wasn’t going to let the fact fat bags wasn’t there to ferry me to the airport
In fact, he did me a favour, I went four times a year after he left instead of two.right up until selling it...and I’d go for a month at a time sometimes..instead of two weeks

I know Ben houchen was trying to attract more airlines to tees valley..but I expect the corona on has put the boot in there as well.

Just told my grandson, that the way things are now are like Sundays in the 50s.
Such a mature lad..I shall miss him when he goes to uni.

RubberDinghyRapids · 30/06/2020 20:21

@RobinHobb
Schools and building sites= trenches
Food manufacturing/low paid factory work full of immigrants = not up for discussion.

Mararunner · 30/06/2020 20:21

Ahhh, glad I've found you. I've been following the anti-dementor threads for a while, keeps me sane. Meanwhile, I give you this. I haven't seen the media that this mentions, but find it telling that Wiltshire Council put this statement up about it. www.wiltshire.gov.uk/news/articles/council-dismisses-lockdown-reports
