I want to point out that they don't have to stay as teachers. They can resign.
I’m baffled as to why they became teachers in the first place if they want to avoid germy kids. It’s only a small minority though who think like this it really is
First day on my PGCE we were told (I paraphrase slightly but I remember the gist over 20 years later)
You will get nits,
You will get worms,
You will get incredibly sick of everyone being an expert on education because they went to school,
But the kids are cracking.
...Apart from on the internet.
Most teachers I know are more concerned, when it comes to teaching attire, with the fact that trainers and shorts during the keyworker children only period, is so much more comfy for teaching in and sod wearing ties and shoes with heels on and stuff like that. Even our Head who is never seen without some very terrifying makeup on and 4 inch high heels - is rocking converse and very little makeup (and looks so much better for it bless her)! The blokes are all rocking shorts and it's just so much more sensible for primary! (We could use not having the lockdown beards on display though - it's starting to resemble a ZZ Top tribute band in upper KS2).
