hello!

well ds had his "doorstep visit" with his new teacher. Went OK. They're hoping to re open as normal with "class bubbles" so everyone in all at once, and wrap around open. Obviously they cant confirm it will happen.

I'm fed up of this life.

Pinkflipflop85 · 30/06/2020 14:36

Checking back in.

Took a break from mumsnet for a little while because the bullshit on here was making me unwell.

Wanted to check back in with my fellow anti dementors....though I feel I have missed a LOT in 2 weeks!

Mascotte · 30/06/2020 14:37

@Lady sorry ... it wasn't directed at you Flowers ... I'm bruised from dementor run-ins where everything I say is twisted/misinterpreted & figure that I'm probably not very good at communicating what I mean to say! I think I'm going to ban myself from posting anywhere else.

Good news .... dd is back to work on Saturday Grin I am so unbelievably happy for her .... she's in on Friday for covid-security training (eye roll) & PPE fitting (she's a waitress!) and shifts on Saturday & Sunday.

She's decided to properly move home (save on rent) so we're moving her stuff out of her house tonight ... god knows what state her room will be in!

KaronAVyrus · 30/06/2020 14:41

Malakas! You bunch of loveable buffoons.

torydeathdrug · 30/06/2020 14:41

oh god ... god knows who I just atted ... sorry!

HesterShaw1 · 30/06/2020 14:42

Hi @Pinkflipflop85, welcome back. Hope you're ok.

Teateaandmoretea · 30/06/2020 14:43

@Mascotte it should be but PHE will shove another 150 deaths from care homes in April that they’ve just discovered to the days total I predict.

Ibake · 30/06/2020 14:44

Welcome back @flipflop. You're right not to go on the rest of MN. These threads aren't actually on MN, we just use it kind of like a portal to another, saner place.

Oh, and @loki just reread my previous post and thought I'd better qualify, in a post brexit mental world, that I hope you know my questions come from a place of 'how interesting that we live in a diverse, multi-cultural society where other people's backgrounds are way more interesting than mine, tell me more' as opposed to the quicker but arguably more contentious 'were you born here'?!! Mea culpa if I got that wrong Blush

probably a stupid question, but, is there any reason why the sadly daily deaths cant be just that, people who died today, or, yesterday if thats easier?

why are there all these random sadly deaths being thrown in from weeks ago?

Whack a mole, watch out for the sharks, muggers, whatever next!?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 30/06/2020 14:46

@TheGreatWave

Hello.

I have just read that BoJo has likened the situation in Leicester as "whack-a-mole"

I'm not sure this is entirely reassuring, more like "if we keeping bashing somewhere, hopefully we will get one right."

Malaka-mole?
LivinLaVidaLoki · 30/06/2020 14:47

Ella Malakas!

I would love to go to Greece. Greeeeeeece.....white houses, wine dark seas, sails, champagne coloured rocks and twisty olive trees and bright colours.....

Is it like that? Or have I looked too many times at the Greek Tourist Board brochure my dad brought me back from Athens in 1985 when he went there with work (I was naive enough to think he had bought me a special present, rather than grabbed a free book as he dashed through the airport, late for his plane...)

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 30/06/2020 14:51

torydeathdrug - sorry I assumed my posts weren't clear - I keep having interruptions and I'm not clear thinking today.

I think I slept badly worrying about getting DS up and ready as first one back in school this morning and how he'd cope with all the rules.

Must be going well though as they've sent e-mails out asking if any parents haven't accepted places this week would like to reconsidered for next two weeks. This is marked difference to last weeks tone of do you really want to send them in.

KaronAVyrus · 30/06/2020 14:52

It really is like that Hester
I’ve long felt that I shouldn’t really live In Scotland but should be in Crete. Just feel at peace there.

torydeathdrug · 30/06/2020 14:52

@TrustTheGeneGenie then they'll be accused of covering up the True Horror. There are graphs around with death by date of death not date reported but as per usual I can't find any decent links.

there's one for NHS England (hospital deaths) about half way down this page

www.cebm.net/covid-19/covid-19-death-data-in-england-update-29th-june/

CruCru · 30/06/2020 14:53

There you are.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 30/06/2020 14:54

We might look at Greek holiday next year - we were thinking about abroad next year and DH been several different parts of Greece.

iamapixie · 30/06/2020 14:55

Hello!
I wonder if we should sometimes individually start threads with some of our more realistic and accurate sadly death percentages, to try to counterbalance the insanity out there.
Don't know whether I'm brave enough though, with the dementors being so fucking unpleasant.
But also wondered how newbie ADs could find us for solace and support?
Sort of feel like we need to spread the love and sanity but don't know quite how!

i suppose so, they should be included, but why cant they day 9 people died today in english hospitals, 1 in wales, 0 in scotland, 15 in other settings in england, oh and 20 from last week that have just been reported.

Saying it just as 45 is misleading isnt it? like 45 people did not die today!

equally i would very much like to know who died OF it, as opposed to WITH IT.
