Shielders are no more likely to be dementors than anyone else from what I’ve observed. They are more aware of their own mortality in general than the ‘moderately unhealthy’.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 30/06/2020 18:43

I actually wonder whether we will have a death rate lower than average for the rest of the year, as a lot of those who would have died in the second half of the year sadly died of covid...

LivinLaVidaLoki · 30/06/2020 18:43

@MagdaS

I have had a dreadful day ‘at’ work and sadly lost my cool with an utter arsehole who was doing the whole ‘I pay your wages’ shite. Actually he doesn’t, we’re funded by income. I told him to be nice as my children were in earshot and he said I shouldn’t be working at home or taking calls with children in the house because of his ‘privacy’. What the fuck does he think I’m going to do about that!
I get that. I always want to say? Are you kidding me? You want a level of service proportionate to what you pay? Here you go (then slap them in the face).

@mightbealittlebitmad
Literally anyone can get a test now so anyone who claims extras based on symptoms is a fucking idiot.

Orangeblossom78 · 30/06/2020 18:46

Even if you never go out, there would be the people delivering, people preparing food, also increased pollution from the deliveries. Waste collectors and recycling taking your rubbish. There is always something!

Well exactly. If they genuinely thought their symptoms were covid why not get a test? So I'm not buying it either but we all know how people like to spin it..

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 30/06/2020 18:48

Alice Roberts is a MASSIVE smunt.

Hello again all.

mightbealittlebitmad · 30/06/2020 18:52

@Drivingdownthe101 They think we should stay in lockdown to prevent any deaths? Well of course we should, I can go one better. Let's all lock ourselves up in individual pods just to make sure we don't murder our families. We must only eat fresh produce, no sugar, alcohol, processed meat. We can't have electricity because people get electrocuted. No water because people drown. Of course we must have leave our isolation pods incase there is a risk of falling over and dying or getting murdered.

We must grow our own food and have our own water supply from a a natural stream because nobody is allowed to go to work to give us food etc because they might die. It's the only way forward, it's the new normal and we should all embrace it because otherwise we are SELFISH!!!

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/06/2020 18:52

I’d seen the same comparisons drawn to HIV - at least the retrovirals given now are excellent in controlling it and indefinitely delaying the progression to AIDS. I’d also seen early reports calling covid “airborne aids” due to the myriad of ways it can present itself. Interesting to note remdesivir is used to treat both hiv and covid.

As a former islander, I concur the veg are shite. We don’t hate incomers, we hate the family 3 miles away whose great great g g g g g g g grandfather POSSIBLY stole a chicken 300 years ago.

I want to do an anatomy degree. Feel my talents may be wasted though as even as a layman feel fairly confident knowing the difference between male and female carcasses.

Ibake · 30/06/2020 18:54

My friend has just been for a test. She wants to go and see her mum, who's getting pretty low, but was worried so I suggested she get one. Had one booked within 10 mins, and called me 40 mins later to say she's on her way home. Will be ironic if she tests positive as I got absolutely wasted with her on Friday and we staggered home together arm in arm! When we logged on there were 9732 testing slots available in our area. I think pre-emptive testing for situations like that, or holidays is the way to go. We've got the capacity now, it's all being paid for so why not use it. Now she just needs to work out how to sneak over the border as her mum is 'away up the road' as you Scots like to say!

@mightbealittlebitmad Have you been watching Final Destination? Grin

PickAChew · 30/06/2020 18:58

For all the talk of pret, earlier today, they're not going to reopen 2 of their 3 stores up here. I don't blame them, particularly the Metrocentre one as that's intu which has its own problems. Still makes the thought of getting back to our nice weekends out, just me and DS1, even more remote.

The virtue signalling on Twitter has always been terrible. People talk utter bollocks on there, but are praised and elevated like they're the second coming. I worry so much that politicians might take Twitter as the voice of the people. And it really is not!

countrygirl99 · 30/06/2020 19:06

Went to the beach today. It was heaving and we really struggled to keep a distance from other people. I hope we don't get ill.

Haha no not for a long time but I do recall a scene where I think someone was walking along and got taken out by a sign or something? Just goes to prove that living is simply too dangerous, we can DIE at any point (not sadly die for obvious reasons)

PickAChew · 30/06/2020 19:16

I bet you were breathing in and holding your breath all the time, @countrygirl99 you must have been so nervous.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/06/2020 19:17

nannyphlegm political landscapes are foretold on ladbrokes, not twitter!

NannyPhlegm · 30/06/2020 19:17

@countrygirl99 I hope you signed a legal declaration giving up your bed in ICU before you went to the beach. You discust me

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/06/2020 19:20

countrygirl that dog looks like a brummie.

NannyPhlegm · 30/06/2020 19:20

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane Ladbrokes has always been a very good judge of where the public pulse is. But I see more and more politicians pander to the Twitter lot. Corbyn, Jess Phillips, that woman who led the Lib Dems for about 15 minutes.......their world view was just tweets masquerading as policy

PickAChew · 30/06/2020 19:20

I only keep my twitter registration to keep track of local traffic and news and to publicly moan at companies who ignore their "contact us" forms. I've gone off it since it stopped allowing you to see the tweets of people you follow in real time.

countrygirl99 · 30/06/2020 19:24

nannyphlegm as we sat by the harbour eating fish and chips and watching families having fun I realised its probably a favourite with people from Leicester. But as we are from near Bedford so what. orangeblossom I hope your DH survived his trip.

@Drivingdownthe101 so THAT’S how you do it, knew there was a knack! 🙄🤦‍♀️😂

There is a lady who does a local facebook page has done for a couple of years, promoting child friendly businesses, activities, with links to events, has been great for planning ahead days out. I was stunned and disappointed when she put this post up.

"This will be my last post for a while. I feel uneasy posting about local businesses opening and their events at the moment. As we all know this is for the economy not because the danger has passed. I believe it's still a risk and I would hate to see a local second wave and families get poorly. It's difficult enough when I'm still having to shield and seeing people disregarding the rules on a daily basis. Please stay safe and keep the 2 metre rule."
