@justasking
When I last looked there wasn’t even an end the lockdown wales

I would join, in the hope we get chance to catch up with relatives this summer.

Dowser · 30/06/2020 15:53

If Crete is anyone where near Paphos on cyprus, we went for our first wedding anniversary four years ago In September
Bloody boiling..34 degrees

fartingsparkles · 30/06/2020 16:03

That's good @tory :) where did you see that? I've been looking but only finding the bad news 😕

Mascotte · 30/06/2020 16:07

@HesterShaw1 I'm thinking of a solo trip when dcs are away as my DP is now too worried to travel.

Ibake · 30/06/2020 16:08

AD trip? That could so be a thing!

@Ibake
Thank you! Yes I get mine from a variety of places including this thread! I just wandered if we should try and disseminate them more. But I don't know that I've got the emotional toolkit to get me through the inevitable stupidity and aggression of the responses!
I suppose I was thinking that the dementors are all in an 'everybody will sadly die (of Covid)' but we ADs are also in an echo chamber (though obviously ours happens to be a sensible one full of people who have some ability to understand information Grin).

SeagoingSexpot · 30/06/2020 16:21

Stupidly busy with work today. But marking my non-socially-distanced slot...

Worldgonecrazy · 30/06/2020 16:27

Dreadful news about EasyJet. I won’t miss flying from Stansted but I will miss some of the places they flew to.

I ventured elsewhere and came scurrying back here - when a poster on a holiday thread said ‘it’s as if the last 3 months have been for nothing’ I want to scream ‘Yes. That’s the whole bloody point!’

At least I haven’t bumped into any real life dementoring today.

Spudlet · 30/06/2020 16:27

Someone posted a link to Alice Roberts’ Twitter at the end of the last thread... god it’s annoying. She’s ‘bemused’ by anyone going out who doesn’t ‘have to’, followed by a mealy mouthed little response about how mental health is a valid reason, after someone challenged her. She’s appallingly patronising, I had no idea. I used to quite like her on the tv. So disappointing.

Worldgonecrazy · 30/06/2020 16:28

We were looking at Crete. We like nice food, exploring, ancient sites and nice beaches for sunset swimming. Any recommendations?

Ibake · 30/06/2020 16:31

Genius @barkandcheese. Didn't you do the NS photoshopping too? Think we might need to appoint you Director in charge of Digital Media. I am currently Director in charge of year end accounts, which is why I have spent most of this afternoon pissing about on here!

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 30/06/2020 16:32

barkandcheese 😂

Just had a letter from school. The unions “aren’t letting them start on 11th august” - and the remaining 3 days of that week are for P1 only. Primary proper starts 17th august. Until the goalposts are moved again next week.

BarkandCheese · 30/06/2020 16:37

I’ll take director in charge of digital media, can I put it on my CV? God knows I could do with something on there right now.

It’s not actual photoshop, just noodling around with a basic collage making app.

She is awful.

Least scientific scientist ever.

KaronAVyrus · 30/06/2020 16:42

Christ - the absolute rampant snobbery on that Alice Robert’s twitter thread is off the charts. Very unpleasant.

(Posted this one the last thread by accident)

@Ibake

AD trip? That could so be a thing!
Definitely could be a thing. A Shirley Valentine type thing
BarkandCheese · 30/06/2020 16:43

Shouldn’t “because I want to” be a valid answer as to why a person is going out when they don’t have to? If it’s not against the law, let alone the roolz, then no one has any right to question a person doing it. We shouldn’t be having to come up with so-called valid reasons to do perfectly allowable things.

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 30/06/2020 16:43

I admire your work @BarkandCheese!

I must confess I am having a very dementory (yes that's an adjective, ignore my NC) day. Reading the news about the situation in Leicester especially the schools being closed due to DC being silent germ filled disease ridden vectors has, I confess, fucking terrified me. Of course the DC aren't dangerous disease vectors until Thursday, when they are actually closing the schools

Anyway. In an effort to distract myself I made DH take me to the garden centre (this is the DH who is literally waiting outside for the tattoo parlour to open so you can imagine garden centres are not his natural habitat ) and bought some beautiful night scented stocks and a rose bush thing which I have got to get the DC to plant myself. I only kill grow herbs and vegetables so this is a new project. Any advise welcome. I bought rose food.

Loving all the holiday talk. Very wistful. God I want some sun. I was thinking before how much harder everything seems in the drizzly rain.

Hope everyone isn't too disheartened and wistful today. @Jourdain11 I am thinking positive thoughts for you.

BogRollBOGOF · 30/06/2020 16:44

I came upstairs looking for some quiet from the DCs downstairs.
My bed has become DH's workplace.
OK, it's just a phone call, but it's still intrusive.
God, I need a mum-cave!

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 30/06/2020 16:48

The whole "why do you need to go out" disapproving judgey face for shielding people especially infuriates me. I must do penance by locking myself in my wardrobe for longer as everyone has been locked down to protect me after all.

Oh fuck off. God knows I would cost the NHS more if I spent one more fucking day in my wardrobe.

BubbleIsNotAFuckingVerb · 30/06/2020 16:49

Scottish islands planning to keep tourists away- except from Scotland! Grin

"Here is my suggestion:
Only allow travel from low-risk areas, ie. Only allow tourism from Scotland.
It has been widely reported that Scotland is getting close to eliminating the virus. Visitors travelling from Scotland would not be risk free, but the risk of transmission would be much less than if they were travelling from anywhere in the UK. This restriction could be enforced by Calmac, who have been carrying out similar checks over the last 3 months. A system could be put in place whereby proof of address has to be supplied on booking the accommodation, and then on arrival at the ferry."
