Why am I allowing myself to get embroiled in the school guidance thread1
Someone give me a slap and tell me to stay away

PickAChew · 02/07/2020 17:43

There are no medals given for hand washing everything, @NothingIsWrong

Dishwasher also uses less water and sanitisers things better.

torydeathdrug · 02/07/2020 17:43

I think Basingstoke is safe but Newbury & Swindon are maybe going too.

My friend's mum works at Heelas, I was really shocked to hear it was under threat. There's not much old Reading left now!

NothingIsWrong · 02/07/2020 17:45

I told him that. Apparently I'm wrong. No surprises there. Plus I'm 42 years old and if I want to use MY dishwasher in MY house to wash my fucking underwear I will.

hashtag
Slap! Don't engage. It's like trying to discuss the meaning of life with a toddler. Their vet's aunt's boyfriend's sister's babysitter is high up in the NHS and says that 9000 children have just given everyone in Reading Covid and we're all going to die.Or whatever.
Deep breaths.

TuckMyWin · 02/07/2020 17:46

There's not going to be much left of Newbury at this rate either. The JL there is only home- possibly safer, since people are less likely to order a sofa over the Internet? I don't know.

torydeathdrug · 02/07/2020 17:47

@hashtagbollocks slap step away ... wankers have to wank ... one day this will be over & what the fuck are they going to do with themselves then? Bunch of saddos & losers Grin

BakewellTarts · 02/07/2020 17:51

@NothingIsWrong I'm surprised your "D"H is still in the house!

Didn't realise there was a reprise of the Daily Sadly Death Show today so missed most of it. But not unhappy with the education plans. Beginning to feel cautiously optimistic that the girls school will open in September. Also helped by recent transition info which is so positive about what they are planning for the new year 7s. I think they really care.

And I see Casual Dining (Bella Italia and Cafe Rouge) have just gone into liquidation.

Orangeblossom78 · 02/07/2020 17:53

We don't have a dishwasher and I remember DH saying something about it being lazy too Angry what is it with the grumpy sods. Now, we have a rack thing above the sink. What joy

Does "under the patio" qualify as "in the house"?

I feel it might.

hashtagbollocks · 02/07/2020 17:58

I'm back on there! It's some sort of dementor wankfest tractor beam pulling me towards it.

Orangeblossom78 · 02/07/2020 18:01

I'm liking this comment on Nicola's masks (BBC site)

Just had a look at the Schools Guidance thread yikes! So glad that my daughters schools seem to populated by sane teachers who like children and want to teach them. Actually I think most teachers are like that its a very small minority that are in the can't do camp. FWIW I think schools will go back fairly normally. Some might have to close for 14 days in response to flair ups but it will be so much better than the current position.

BakewellTarts · 02/07/2020 18:06

I've also now "admired" Nicolas mask she really does look like a terrier in it doesn't she? I'm not anti mask just don't feel that the way most wear them they convey benefit. Still I can do performance safety if required.

TheGreatWave · 02/07/2020 18:06

And you're right. No one actually gives a shit about the people who have been working poorly paid and in poor conditions, throughout this.

I get increasingly annoyed at those who smugly announce that they have not been out since March and aren't they so great, whilst never considering those who have done so, to enable them to not go out.

Orangeblossom78 · 02/07/2020 18:18

Yes, it is fortunate to be able to do that. They need to 'check their privilege' perhaps!

TheGreatWave · 02/07/2020 18:22

Many years ago, in our old house, there was a space for a dishwasher, but at the time we didn't have one so used it for storage.

I announced to DH one day that I wanted a dishwasher, to which he said, if you make the space for it, yes. Done within the hour.

He does it now, mainly because I am a lazy fart / earner.

Dowser · 02/07/2020 18:23

Bella italia was my fave gluten and dairy free chain restaurant
I did wonder how they were doing with the meerkat meals they offered.
Now gone

Had a long chat to cousin in wales
I don’t think we will be meeting up this year
Specially with her arse of a husband.

HeadSpin5 · 02/07/2020 18:28

Def def def keeping away from the school threads. Obviously, if you advocate schools returning then that = wanting teachers to die, or not caring about their health. No point reiterating for the thousandth time that being capable of assessing risk and not believing they’re at any more danger than most, as opposed to not caring - it just disappears into the echo chamber of dementoring. Oh and whilst their salaries/jobs are secure regardless, I’m still waiting for one of them to explain who will pay MY wages when I have to give up work if no schools...Anyone? Nope, thought not 🙄

TuckMyWin · 02/07/2020 18:30

Right, that's me done with the school threads. They're now upset that teachers aren't allowed PPE like dentists are.

AnxiousElephant77 · 02/07/2020 18:31

Poked my head into the schools thread. Swiftly poked it back out. What in the name of God is WRONG WITH EVERYONE.

ISaySteadyOn · 02/07/2020 18:31

I'm anti compulsory masks. If people want to wear them, crack on, just let me not wear one.

Something funny happened today. DD2 was trying to explain to me how I had annoyed her by saying something wrong and DS couldn't stand it so he began to poke the cardboard roll that our curtain fabric had come in between the two of us. Before I say anything further, DS is only 6 and hasn't really seen any of his friends since March.

Anyway, it suddenly occurred to me that he was trying to get us to pay attention to a hard cylindrical tube when we were discussing something that had nothing to do with him and I thought 'This is what feminism is to address, DD2!'

It doesn't seem as funny now written down but it was funny at the time.

I want to point out that they don't have to stay as teachers. They can resign. Just like pre covid nobody was forced into an actual high risk job like the police, now, post Covid, if they really believe that teaching is a high risk profession, they are welcome to choose to do something else they perceive to have a lower risk. Yes, sucks for them that stuff has changed - but Covid pretty much sucks for everyone. Don't think it will help to point that out though :) Also, I don't think we will see teachers leaving in droves, somehow.
Teateaandmoretea · 02/07/2020 18:37

There’s absolutely no point in the schools threads at all. No one is allowed to criticise anything or they are jumped on. Absolutely zero sense and objectivity

Teateaandmoretea · 02/07/2020 18:39

I’m baffled as to why they became teachers in the first place if they want to avoid germy kids. It’s only a small minority though who think like this it really is
