How much would you pay for this shopping?

Weekly food shop done in M&S to feed a family of 2 adults, one child, one baby for a week. We already had basics like bread, milk, eggs and pasta.

Partner 1 thinks it's excessive

Partner 2 thinks it's a bargain

How much would you pay for this shopping?

67?

InDubiousBattle · 29/06/2020 10:57

£60 ish?

Fleurchamp · 29/06/2020 10:57

I never seem to spend less than £30 in M&S on top up shops.... so I would say £90-£100.

IrishCream123 · 29/06/2020 10:58

About £80-£85

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 29/06/2020 10:58

... but we all like the pricier ones.

If you like pricier food and can afford it then however much it is is irrelevant. £250 might not be excessive for some people, just doing a weekly shop at M&S might be completely out of the park for others.

If one partner thinks you need to cut back you need a sensible conversation and make some grown up choices.

spagbog5 · 29/06/2020 10:58

I reckon £80 .
Looks a lovely selection op Smile

Jeremyironsnothing · 29/06/2020 11:01

£70

But regardless of the total value, £14 for salmon fillets could be seen as expensive by your partner. Actually that's not excessive for salmon but if your partner would be just as happy eating sausages for £2.50 then it would seem expensive to him.

SapphosRock · 29/06/2020 11:02

Some varied guesses! Some are close. I'll see if anyone can get it to the nearest pound.

The evening meals will probably be chicken with olives and lemon, salmon and new potatoes, sea bass, chicken curry, a spinach and lentil dal (already have lentils), chicken en croute and veggie wraps.

We are happy with sandwiches or omelette for lunch and already have eggs and a 65p loaf from their basics range.

£72

Marmite27 · 29/06/2020 11:06

£50/£60

whatayearitis · 29/06/2020 11:06

Dunno about the price but all that plastic wrap!
That's brocolli in plastic wrap? We don't see that in Nz.

AlexithymiaDH · 29/06/2020 11:08

£63

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 29/06/2020 11:09

£68

gopuff · 29/06/2020 11:10

£60 but not enough snacks for my household

Crockodoodle · 29/06/2020 11:10

I'd say £50 in Tesco using their finest food range but £73 in M&S

gopuff · 29/06/2020 11:12

I can't see any fruit, we shop in M&S. It's not as expensive as people think when you buy in bulk shop the offers.

TreacherousPissFlap · 29/06/2020 11:13

Roughly I guess it comes to about £80 which I would consider not bad considering the quality. It would be fine for our family for a week (2 adults, 16yo DS) as we buy good quality and pad out with extra bread or salads etc.

gopuff · 29/06/2020 11:14

Maybe £79, I thought the salmon was carrots!

chunkyrun · 29/06/2020 11:14

£50 from m&s I think it's expensive, probably cost £30 from Aldi

LockdownLoppy · 29/06/2020 11:15

Good value or expensive is relative to your circumstances. I am always horrified at the prices in M & S and can't bring myself to shop there.

nonwonderwoman · 29/06/2020 11:16

£65

SapphosRock · 29/06/2020 11:18

We went fruit picking over the weekend so have plenty of fruit! But I did notice 4 flat peaches, single pineapples and 3 pears all priced at 65p

As you can probably guess I am partner 2.

Nobody has got it yet but some of it was reduced and I had a £5 off voucher.

£69?

Jbck · 29/06/2020 11:23

I wondered if you’d taken yellow stickers off 😉, we can’t tell accurately.
