Can positive pregnancy tests be false?

My last period was 10 March, (I made a thread about if it is to do with being overweight) went for my smear on weds and mentioned this when she was asking the usual questions.
She suggested I POAS and I did just because but not for one minute thinking it would be positive but it was
I was kind of shocked into just leaving but since I've been panicking reading things about what can cause a false positive.

Is it possible for a false positive to just be a false positive. Even when it's a Dr's test?

I had a false positive. It was a Sainsbury's own brand test. I massively panicked and went out to buy more tests. They all came out negative. I Googled the Sainsbury's test later on and it had a reputation for giving false positives; some other people had had the same thing.

What a miracle baby. No actual sex and your dh has had a vasectomy.

I had a smear test when I was pregnant because I’d never had one before. I also had a polyps removed whilst pregnant

She didn't actually carry out the smear. Asked about last period etc then because it was a while ago suggested a test and when it was positive she didn't do it.
There was foreplay and obviously the vasectomy hadn't been affective

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

However, I would be extremely concerned that a partner had had sex with me when I so was so drunk I couldn't even remember it.

Aisforharlot · 03/07/2020 12:34

I had a false positive on a cheap blue line test.

We have hardly had sex since he had the snip. I'm bowing out not as between here and reddit (yes my children's ages WHERE changed for privacy) it's obviously too far fetched to be real. Thanks to those who gave advice

Ah, a shame people have made you feel like that :( Good luck and congratulations!

I had smear tests during pregnancy in Germany. I found it completely fucking weird TBH. But it's normal here.

GooodMythicalMorning · 03/07/2020 21:48

Good luck! Hope everything goes well.

Because giving your children's ages is somehow outing? You're the only person with children of those ages?

BertieBotts · 04/07/2020 14:33

I think she just means it's easier to tie threads together and figure out who someone is if you always use the truth in your posts. Plenty of people muddy details a bit so that they aren't so traceable. Not that she would be the only person with those ages of kids.

Wow there are some amazing pregnancy stories on here recently. First there was the woman who one day felt movement in her stomach and turned out to be 6 months pregnant and now this!
