I have just bought a Bissell crosswave, and it is amazing. I feel so organised with lovely clean floors.

What have you bought that has made a real difference to your life?

Shamelessly materialistic

Robot vacuum

Chicchicchicchiclana · 28/06/2020 21:40

My piano lessons, £30 pw. Best money I spend and I have kept on prioritising them even though we're completely broke now.

We got our first dishwasher in 1997 before we had children. It was a freebie left behind in a posh flat in Chelsea, perk of my job. It lasted for a good 10 years and was one of the best things I ever owned, especially as it cost me nothing.

HalloumiChips · 28/06/2020 21:41

@whereorwhere what's a robin op? A red breasted bird.

@labazsisgoingmad You bought your partner? How much?

A mans wallet instead of a purse where do you put coins?

Proper trays to eat our tea from when watching telly I’m at the point of seriously considering buying an overbed table/tray thing as I often eat in bed and have had the occasional mishap

I’d love a dishwasher but nowhere to put it! Kitchen is a half galley and too bloody small anyway!

Personally I wouldn’t be without:

iPhone I know unpopular view, but it’s so easy and fun to use! I don’t get the latest model when i (have to - my only bugbear is the planned obsolescence) upgrade but get an older model that’s still being sold “as new” and I look after them so they last me a few years.

Good thick eye mask - I have trouble sleeping so often I’m finally getting some as the sun comes up especially in summer! Curtains/blinds etc simply aren’t enough darkness to keep me asleep

Streaming subscriptions - I’m housebound and I really get the use of them. Normal tv is generally crap these days

Various “disability aids” which I resisted for ages out of misplaced and senseless pride! I’m now embracing my “grabber”, adapted tin opener, jar opener etc they do make my life easier and I now acknowledge it was silly not to have and use them.

USB multi-way adapter thingy - as recommended on here! Plugs into one socket but can charge up to 4 usb chargeable devices. It also has “bits” which mean you can adapt to use overseas too. Loved it so much got one for everyone I buy for Xmas! They’re also impressed

Curious about ear buds - I’ve not used in ear headphones for years because they hurt! And they don’t stay in! I have tiny elf ears apparently (seriously even audiologists have commented!) is it possible to get in small sizes?

mrwalkensir · 28/06/2020 21:45

Mimimayhem18 yes to the Delonghi - have had one for a few years...

Washinglinewench29 · 28/06/2020 21:55

Just had to order one of the contraptions for rubbing the butter in....tad excited such a thing exists!

TumbledGlass · 28/06/2020 22:09

Rainbow ball on a keychain. It's an inflatable ball with a long curly cord attached, we clip it to our washing line, dog amuses himself for ages heading the ball. I just sit and watch, best £2/ £3 I've spent all year.

MrsFezziwig · 28/06/2020 22:09

Yes, just ordered a pastry rubber inner too! Grin

I love my microwave egg poacher (couldn’t get on with the silicon pods).

twilightcafe · 28/06/2020 22:10

Sleep earphones. I put my phone on sleep timer so I can fall asleep to the radio or music.
DH can snore as much as he likes. I'll sleep like a log Grin

BestIsWest · 28/06/2020 22:11

A mans wallet instead of a purse where do you put coins?

Anywhere and everywhere. Pockets, in the bottom of my bag, in the car, in pots in the house. Anywhere a man would (except their clothes ALWAYS have pockets).

twilightcafe · 28/06/2020 22:15

www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0832K9P66?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

£16.99 for two pairs of sleep headphones. Bargain.

pinkcattydude · 28/06/2020 22:21

Just ordered the pastry thing too I hate rubbing in butter but love scones

EinsteinaGogo · 28/06/2020 22:24

A 7ft long, 6.5ft wide custom made bed & mattress. Literally changed our sleeping habits, I LOVE it.

Homebirdafterall · 28/06/2020 22:32

Cordless vacuum. Just an 80 quid black & decker one. I now vacuum everyday when before I'd put it off for a looong time. This thread makes me want a robot one though.

EinsteinaGogo · 28/06/2020 22:34

Those of you with dogs AND a robovac - do the dogs go for them?

2bazookas · 28/06/2020 22:57

A field next to our house. A bargain at £2000

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 28/06/2020 23:04

Weighted blanket.
Wake up light.
Slow cooker.
Robot lawn mower (his name is Bob)
Towel turban from the pound shop.

Gertie75 · 28/06/2020 23:08

German shepherd
Heated throw
Good quality camera
Nintendo Switch.
Salt and Pepper pringles.

I go walking with the dog and my camera then sit underneath my heated throw playing my Switch and eating the Pringles.

Bilzo · 28/06/2020 23:09

A scarf like shoulder massaging thing from Amazon. I think it was about £40. I use it every night.

thelikelylass · 28/06/2020 23:09

I just ordered packing cubes..what a great idea!
laser hair removal on legs - wow.
dog
luxurious bed and mattress super king with gorgeous bed linen.
Nespresso machine
plants for bedroom - instant calm when stressing and working from home.

hiredandsqueak · 28/06/2020 23:10

Einstein our dog ignores the robo vac she does know though, to retrieve any biscuit she has stashed when she hears the start up tune. Exh's dog who would attack the dyson isn't bothered about it either but it is much quieter so that might be why.

undercoveraessedai · 28/06/2020 23:10

Rescue cats 💙 here's one helping me browse MN Grin
Also dishwasher, lumie sunrise alarm clock, weighted blanket, Bluetooth headphones.

What have you bought, cheap, expensive, or anywhere in between that has changed your life.
undercoveraessedai · 28/06/2020 23:12

Oh, and a 7 way usb hub for my big laptop - no more constant plugging and unplugging stuff like microphones and hard drives and printers! Best £40 ever.
