Oh gawd - the local newspaper facebook feed on the "back to school with fines for non attendance" story. The comments!

There's a massive difference in the spelling, punctuation and grammar of those sending their kids back and how their kids are benefitting from being back versus the "I won ave 2 send my baybee back cuz it no safe" brigade. Snobby but bloody true and by the looks of it a lot of the parents needed a few more percentage on their school attendance.

It's beginning to split very socio-economically.

I missed yesterday's freak zone, too. Loved the summer solstice one with all the bird song.

Cattermole · 29/06/2020 14:47

I've noticed on some other threads on here that the advice seems to be "it might be a symptom of THE VIRUS you should get a test"
Ingrowing toenail? might be a symptom of THE VIRUS
Boil on your bum? Virus. Covid Bum. Had you not heard about it?
Leg dropped off? You never know.... best have a test.

Me too. Smile

It was so pretentious and wonderful Grin

@Worldgonecrazy

We don't need to learn how to live with Covid. We already know how to live with viruses that can kill a small proportion of the people who get them.

Yes!

It feels like the world finally has gone crazy. None of it makes sense. People are absolutely terrified out there. For something that is a small risk to most people, just like every other virus out there that we manage. Sepsis kills more people every year but those don’t count as sadly-died deaths.

I feel like I’m in dystopia today, normal service will resume when the sun comes back.

This x a million. I know I've said this before but do all these people not know anyone preCovid who's died or been really ill? Ffs. Admittedly I'm a hyperchondriac and have/had (sadly Wink) many family members with a vast array of health problems so perhaps I just know more about illness and death than some, but I can't believe that these people have such a different life experience. And as for the 'permanent damage', many illnesses cause permanent damage to a few people. I only know 2 people who have ever had malaria and both of them ended up with 'permanent damage' /disability. So by dementor reckoning 100% of people with malaria end up disabled. Except they don't. (obv I am not minimising malaria; quite the opposite). I'm sick of the stupidity, ignorance, selfishness and hypocrisy. Sorry for everyone struggling. This madness cannot keep going on.
Mascotte · 29/06/2020 14:49

@Cattermole sorry about your mum. Do you feel responsible for rescuing her when it gets out of hand?

It's a bit like being pregnant that way.

Body falling apart in inexplicable ways?

You are either

1 Up the duff

2 Have a lethal virus that kills every one who comes in contact with it

Willitneverend · 29/06/2020 14:57

I'm back on and feeling a lot more positive.

Kids started back at childminder today and despite being a committed anti dementor I still woke up at 4am feeling very anxious... I'm not sure what about.

Our booking spree continues and I have 2 mini breaks, a meal out, a haircut and a kiddy day out sorted. Slightly makes up for being stuck here when I should be on holiday!

Willitneverend · 29/06/2020 14:59

I also have read many Philippa Gregory books. Has anyone else read the one about the woman who is a witch and theres lots of shagging and I think some spanking or whipping? I might try and find it.

Cattermole · 29/06/2020 15:06

@Mascotte not any more, thankfully. There's a whole load of back-story to why she's had a slip this time but it's her story, not mine. It's all a bit shit and like I said to her earlier I feel incredibly sorry for her but I won't tell her what to do.

I'm not prone to anxiety but it is taking much more psyching up than usual to do really trivial stuff. Early lockdown there was at least the thrill of escape at going to the supermarket or for a run, but that's all flat now. If it's something new I can be mildly deterred by wondering what the system will be.

I'm wearing my fluffy Christmas jumper today. If there was ever a day in June where wanton Christmas jumper wearing can be acceptable, today must be it. Grin

Is that Jacquetta of Luxembourg, Elizabeth Woodville's mother? Wasn't it rumoured she was a witch? Mind you any non compliant, slightly intelligent woman was rumoured to be a witch...

I was obsessed with the Wars of the Roses in my youth!

I found a snail on my bathroom ceiling Shock
Agreeing with the pp ( sorry, lost name) who talked about the benefits of not drinking too much. I feel much more positive when I'm on the wagon, and feel on top of things, whereas slightly hungover I feel stressed and panicky ( I'm working ft so never feel like there's enough hours in the day). I never lose any weight but my skin looks much better and I don't need make up after a few weeks of herbal tea instead of wine. Anyone thinking of doing dry July, I'm happy to help haul you onto dry land 💪

Willitneverend · 29/06/2020 15:34

@HesterShaw1 I remembered the name. It was the Wise Woman. It was a bit peculiar.

@BogRollBOGOF I know what you mean. I went to work for most of the day then took the kids to a sweet shop. This feels like a peculiarly action packed, exhausting day now. And DS picked up a bag of liquorice belts so I suggested he got 2 more, meaning 2 more bags of £1 sweeties, but he picked up 2 more bags of the liquorice so I felt obliged to buy them in case the shopkeeper thought we were unreasonably folding bags of sweeties.

Willitneverend · 29/06/2020 15:34

Fondling, not folding.

countrygirl99 · 29/06/2020 15:38

I'm done today. First Monday of 2 weeks leave and I'd rather be at work. Should have bee my first day back but early June I re-arranged in the faint hope that DS2 would be able to get married before they emigrate. Hopes were raised with last week's announcement. First the person at the venue wasn't on leave, not back until today. They can fit them in any time in the 5 possible days, as long as the Registrar can make it they are good to go. They phoned registrars office. The person who can look at the diary isn't in, someone will call you back Wednesday or Thursday!
I haven't ridden all weekend because its either been pissing down or blowing a hooley.
On top of that DH is taking a day off tomorrow so we can go to Holkham and walk along the beach to Wells. I've looked at the weather forecast today and it's dull with more bloody wind. Then we are back to rain here for the rest of the week.
Lunch was 2 slices of Victoria sponge and a cornetto.

Cattermole · 29/06/2020 15:42

@countrygirl99 if you had a piece of cake in each hand it's a balanced diet.... I'll get me coat.

Hope DS2 manages to sneak the wedding in the diary though. How romantic would that be in years to come??

trappedsincesundaymorn · 29/06/2020 15:50

I'm still grumpy. The phone call has been pushed back until tomorrow, I'm currently suffering an optical migraine (haven't had one for ages), and as much as I adore OH he is getting on my last nerve today.

Shodan · 29/06/2020 16:06

I'm not convinced it's actually virus fear for all of them, I think some people just really enjoy telling others what to do

Yup. Reliving their ‘playground monitor’ days

Yes that was exactly the voice she used!

Off to the headmistress for you, miscreant! Grin

rookiemere · 29/06/2020 16:07

Thank goodness for that www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-53219279 no plans to introduce quarantine between Scotland and England. I knew it was unworkable, but it still freaked me out that we might not be able to go on our English holiday that I have droaned on about ad infinitum here !

I don't know what we're expected to do - have no plans for the future at all ? I hate the - well it will do you know harm at all to forgo a holiday for a few months, better that than dead or in the critical care ward people - they're the ones who didn't like holidays anyway and preferred to spend any spare cash on new sofas and living quietly.

Anyway this is good news and I must not be despondent!

HesterShaw1 · 29/06/2020 16:08

Best not Joudain. It's like prodding a hornet. I obviously meant that all people who die of Covid are nearly dead anyway, of course I did Hmm.

I swear some posters just wander round the site seeking offence

Too late, I've already jumped in with both feet!
Jourdain11 · 29/06/2020 16:10

Is it not that, like, 9/10 people hospitalised from Covid have an underlying condition, and of those, 2/3 have more than one underlying condition?
