Here's a new thread for discussing aircon, aubergines, and Goth music.

@trapped Get that fizz open! Congratulations!

Shodan · 23/06/2020 17:12

@trappedsincesundaymorn Congrats!

Late to this party, I've been out feeling all normal today (apart from the fact I told ds2 he could do his schoolwork later). We went to play mini golf, and very nice it was too.

Did I mention that poor ds2 has been doing The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas for literacy these past few weeks? Of all the cheery books to assign to 12 year olds in lockdown...

KaronAVyrus · 23/06/2020 17:14

Great news trapped.

My Mum sent my 12 year old the Diary of Anne Frank. GrinHmm

She was like "a book about a family trapped indoors for YEARS? Seriously?"

In retrospect, a poor choice.

She seemed to be more upset by the forced confinement with family than anything. BlushGrin

I guess I don't provide a nurturing home where children are delighted to spend months doing crafts with their parents.

That’s fab new Trapped.

iamapixie · 23/06/2020 17:27

Congrats Trapped!

Ibake · 23/06/2020 17:27

You could be forgiven for thinking Suzanne from Chesterfield at Sadly Daily Deaths is me re doctors and dentists but it isn't! Good qn from her, currently fairly bollox answer from Whitty

fartingsparkles · 23/06/2020 17:28

@trapped woohoo for you!!! Huge well done!!

And woohoo for playgrounds, and all the rest of it too!! Really hoping swimming pools won't be far behind, because that's ds's 'thing' with my friend. They went every week virtually, and both thoroughly enjoyed it. It gave ds some time away from dd too (and me) which he really benefited from.

Willow2017 · 23/06/2020 17:30

Congratulations Trapped way to go😃

@Orangeblossom78

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that parents in England will be able to ask friends and family to help with childcare under the changes which come into force on 4 July.

He also said "wrap-around care" for school-age children - meaning care for children before and after school - and formal childcare will "restart over the summer".

And he repeated his promise to reopen schools fully in the next academic year, saying: "Primary and secondary education will recommence in September with full attendance and those children who can already go to school should do so because it is safe."

From BBC online

I have not been so happy in MONTHS.

And we can go see my mum. And go to playgrounds. I feel like all my Christmases have come at once.

All I need now is some kind of clarification from work and to start the new job. Woohoo!

ExpletiveDelighted · 23/06/2020 17:31

Well done Trapped. I am going to have to come off FB for today, mine is full of people saying it hasn't gone away, this isn't backed by science, its all about money.

Whereas I am bubbling with excitement and about to go out and meet friends.

PickAChew · 23/06/2020 17:32

Nice one @trappedsincesundaymorn 🥂

Ibake · 23/06/2020 17:34

And Laura effin kuennsberg is a fun sponge in the extreme ps @trapped I did pour myself 1 glass in your honour and now feel completely pissed. How crap is that? I really thought I'd built my tolerance up over the past few weeks! Girls night at mine tonight - yay, barbie and drinks - on a Tuesday because who cares anymore?Smile

Bollss · 23/06/2020 17:34

Well done @trappedsincesundaymorn excellent news! Wine

PickAChew · 23/06/2020 17:36

As an aside, someone needs to point out to this young lady, eavesdropping on our thread, that there is no point trying to pretend that she's on the phone because it's obvious that her hand is empty.

ADs too cool for air con?
Spudlet · 23/06/2020 17:41

@trappedsincesundaymorn Congratulations, that’s brilliant!

NannyPhlegm · 23/06/2020 17:43

Laura Keunssberg and Sam Coates with their "gotcha" questions. Hmm

trappedsincesundaymorn · 23/06/2020 17:47

Ibake

1 glass?? I don't know whether to be disappointed in you or proud. So I shall go with proudly disappointed. Frowning yet cheering at the same time.

CruCru · 23/06/2020 17:48

Well done trapped!

SpnBaby1967 · 23/06/2020 17:48

@trappedsincesundaymorn WAHOO!!!!! That is awesome news xxxx you superstar!

Ibake · 23/06/2020 17:48

Actually I think Vallance and Whitty are being pretty robust today. I'm pretty happy with what they're saying - we can do more but be careful too. Seems reasonable to me

mylittleyumyum · 23/06/2020 17:49

Congratulations Trapped! So many good things today Smile

Ibake · 23/06/2020 17:50

@trapped I know! Rubbish! In my defence, because I've been prepping food all afternoon, I've not had any lunch so think it went straight to my head. I predict extreme giddiness with the girls later on!

OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks · 23/06/2020 17:50

Trapped hurrah! Today is definitely a Good Day and hopefully the start of many to come, for everyone...

YY about the mammies not wanting to "put anyone out". If I ring my mammy and say "DS is going to the shop do you want anything?" she doesn't need anything but thank you for asking. If I ring and say "DS is doing my head in and I need an excuse to send him to the shop, do you need anything?" She will admit to needing bread and milk Grin It's like a little game we play. I miss her coming round so we can do the same thing with the kettle. "I'll have one if you're having one anyway, don't do one just for me".

The irony is when we go to her house, she's like Mrs Bloody Doyle!

Lickyicelollies · 23/06/2020 17:55

Great news Trapped, congratulations Grin.

Hooray for the schools in Scotland! Although part of me doesn't trust all the caveats about the virus being suppressed for it to happen. I'll be continuing to keep the pressure on the government until August.

Nicola is saying we shouldn't go on holiday to England to which my response was "oh do fuck off".
