It's got to be mayo obviously - you can shove your vinegary salad cream nonsense quite frankly. DSis and I almost had a proper argument about this last year because she is on the side of the salad cream. She was wrong of course.

Mayonnaise might've been around at some time before I left home, but DM probably ignored it and carried on with her salt, pepper, cream mixture gloop

Mayonnaise all the way, especially from a French or Belgian supermarket (Benedicta or DL brands are both heavenly!)

I love both for different things, but if I had to choose it'd be mayo. If bought it has to be Heinz. I accidentally bought it instead of Hellmann's once and it's much nicer.

Salad cream is only good on burnt Lasagne skin

I was asking DD what she'd choose and she said Kewpie mayo.
I'd forgotten about it as I've not had it in ages, so Im going with that, also, she's bringing me some next week.

I was reading that as 'burnt skin' and nodding. Because if you get sunburnt, you can put on yogurt, so why not salad cream. That means it has a use that doesn't involve eating it

Mayo but did you know that some people consider mayo to be a 'controversial' (love it or hate it) food? I think this has come from Americans though so I wonder if mayonnaise in the US is different somehow.

I thought I didn’t like mayonnaise for many years because I thought it and salad cream were the same thing. Then I tasted it on chips in France and have been hooked ever since.

Mayonnaise. My ex used to eat cheese and salad cream sandwiches and just thinking of the smell and taste of the salad cream gives me the absolute boak 🤮

If we're talking expensive good or at least decent quality (or home made) mayonnaise- then that wins hand down! But if we're talking just cheapest supermarket own range then I would have to chose salad cream.
