I too hate air con. Wait are you people all actually me?

SummerHouse · 22/06/2020 22:58

bogroll thank you that makes perfect sense. We are undercover. It's SAFER that way.

Dowser Grin I am not sure I can look at my spicy nic naks in the same way ever again.

MagdaS · 22/06/2020 23:04

I hate air con. It is always far too cold, apart from perhaps with the limited exception of overnight on holiday.

TheGreatWave · 22/06/2020 23:04

Central heating can just be as drying. Not that long ago many council houses in the East Durham area still had coke fires. People always wanted them changed to gch because "breathing" but actually the latter was often worse.

Anyway back to the ICU I think, like many of us, my right to treatment has been forfeited though. Mine was when I made an extra trip to Aldi just to buy cereal, the fact it was for the autistic one was not, alas, enough to get me back on the list.

Thank goodness MN is not the NHS treatment committee

SummerHouse · 22/06/2020 23:10

I lost my ICU place when I went into my sister's house to put my chicken in her fridge and nephew pointed out that "Boris said it's not allowed." At least I won't get salmonella.

Ooh I also hate air conditioning!

Too late to read back through the gazillion posts so Dowser's spicy nik nak picture is going to remain a mildly disturbing mystery.

DD is into week two of being back in school. She's so happy. And I am feeling much better for the five minutes of chatting to other adults at pick up and drop off.

An extra joined their class today - FOMO strikes! This child was taken out of school the week before they shut, so I was quite surprised to see the return. Interestingly the school are now saying all the places are taken, even though the bubbles haven't reached fifteen. Not sure what the reasoning is behind that.

Right, to bed. Make the next thread title a good'un!

Dowser · 22/06/2020 23:39

We need some suggestions

I took mine out the week before schools closed to be fair. They weren’t coping well with the schools being ridiculous about hand washing and all the staff obviously really really scared and the environment changing on them constantly- sending them back was a no brainer - things were calmer and more thought out rather than reactionary and things changing constantly and I was able to talk through the changes and put the viral “threat” into perspective for them.

Was watching my uni Q and A over blended learning last night and they basically admit that the end of this year was cobbled together sad everything was changing constantly but that they’re trying to have a coherent plan for next year with it all - but that their 200 capacity lecture halls currently could only fit about 25 under current distancing and they’re possibly having to turn lots of them over to things like practical subject studios to get the sessions that physically need to be on campus on there.

I like this!
Drivingdownthe101 · 23/06/2020 07:39

I most definitely gave up my place in ICU when I took my DC on a 1.5 hour walk to see some piglets back in the days that we were being screeched at to only walk for an hour Grin. It nearly blew one poor dementor’s tiny little head off with rage when I admitted to that one.

Drivingdownthe101 · 23/06/2020 07:40

Ps I used to live in Madrid where it is regularly 42 degrees in the summer... I made us move apartments after a couple of months to one with air con Blush

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 23/06/2020 07:41

I took mine out a week early too - what was creeping across the globe seemed indiscriminate and scary. We learn more. I thought we’d either all be deid by now, or crawling back to normal. Did not foresee the Scottish government opting out of education.

rookiemare back at the start of this, so quiet was it at PRI they sent some paramedics down to London to bolster the troops there.

BarkandCheese · 23/06/2020 07:43

Good morning. I’ve woken up with a splitting headache today, because I’ve started tooth grinding in my sleep again. I’ve got a thing like a gum shield I’m meant to put over my teeth to stop me doing it but I can’t sleep with it in.

SummerHouse · 23/06/2020 07:50

I also have the anti grinder guard (teeth) and it's horrible - wore it about twice. Hope your headache eases off bark

Drivingdownthe101 · 23/06/2020 07:53

Mine were out of school early because we were self isolating for symptoms, otherwise they’d have been there until the bitter end! I had a sneaking suspicion that once they closed we’d be lucky to see the inside of school again before September so wanted to squeeze every last drop out of it!

Orangeblossom78 · 23/06/2020 07:58

Ours were in classes of 60 the last couple of weeks as teachers off etc (shielding for DCs one)

Dowser · 23/06/2020 07:59

Driving
42 degrees is an insane temp..Id be begging for air con way before that. October before last was 34 in Tenerife and we were melting
Our apartment has no air con..I repeat..no air con..DH not happy , neither was I

SomewhereEast · 23/06/2020 08:00

Ooohhh the Torygraph is claiming that museums, cinemas, hairdressers & all sorts will be back from 4 July. I like all that but really just want some bloody playgrounds!

Dowser · 23/06/2020 08:00

Orange blossom
Classes of 60
Crazy.
We were in classes of 30-40 in the 50s
60 is just child minding

Lianarose · 23/06/2020 08:00

Not had time to post much on here but reading occasionally. Just seen headlines that cinemas and museums are to be allowed to reopen at start July. I would really like to see playgrounds reopening for the summer but not seen mention of this in the papers. Surely the benefits to children outweigh any risks by now?

MagdaS · 23/06/2020 08:01

Mine were in till the bitter end. My youngest had his birthday the day before they closed. Many of his friends brought cards and presents in and it made up a bit for cancelling his party.

SomewhereEast · 23/06/2020 08:05

Our school was really normal in that last week thank God. Way back when we were chosing schools we picked ours over other more shiny, affluent, academic options because it had a really warm atmosphere & a HT who genuinely likes kids. I'm so relieved we did now because its been so much better in handling all this. A similar-sized school in our town has refused to take any children at all before Sept because they "didn't see how they could make it work", whereas ours has just got on with it.
