Ugh there's some arseholes on here. People like that give teachers a bad time. Apparently I'm lying about my final GCSE exam for history because she's never heard of it and she's been teaching since before I was even born dontcha know. Christ on a bike. I feel sorry for students with teachers like that.

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 22/06/2020 20:07

Just had an email from our school saying they can take an extra class, last chance call for any keyworker children or children in the 'allowed' years then they will open to another year if they can (no hint at which) so will ask DD if she wants to go. Am quite impressed with our HT for making the effort, it's a very small primary with only 6 classrooms and two teachers are isolating, so they are doing well to be able to offer another class.

PickAChew · 22/06/2020 20:09

It looks good, @Dowser

Definitely best not to be using strong bleach at home!

Drivingdownthe101 · 22/06/2020 20:10

It looks fab @Dowser!

Mascotte · 22/06/2020 20:11

Queen Nicola dementimg about the German R number, aided and abetted by Sky news.

Drivingdownthe101 · 22/06/2020 20:16

🤦 someone on another thread saying that if 1:1700 people have Covid in the UK then that makes 4 million people.
Ironically on a thread titled ‘is anyone good at maths?’

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 20:16

Nicola is an idiot.

Its pretty common knowledge that the technical R number in Germany is not because of transmission in the community a large.

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 20:17

It's annoying @HesterShaw. The cult will lap
It up and we will be locked up forever

IAintentDead · 22/06/2020 20:32

So around 40,000. Only a couple of zeros wrong. And zeros are nothing anyway 😏😏😏😏😏😏

chocolatesweets · 22/06/2020 20:34

How do you think people will vote after all this? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/06/2020 20:38

Also watching What We Do In The Shadows, the new series is on BBC2.
The Colin Robinson of this world must be thriving in the current doom and gloom climate Grin

Drivingdownthe101 · 22/06/2020 20:38

Oops posted too soon. Meant to say yes, exactly!

chocolatesweets · 22/06/2020 20:43

I've been off mn for a week. I had a really bad week where everything seemed to spiral and I realised I just wasn't OK with lockdown anymore.

This week both sets of gps have looked after dcs , toddlers and it's been grand. I am now wanting more , as is normal. Back to this forum again (socially distanced of course ) 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/06/2020 20:50

Looks like I’m paying the price for my “bubble piss-up” at the weekend and I think I’ve broken my toe. I have vague recollections of some sort of foot incident... but it’s all a little blurry...

This week was all about reversing the “fit to flab” and instead I’m hobbling.

I also read today that my lovely swimming loch is now a haven for broken glass - better warn your dad orange - the beach bit by the cabin has been used for piss-ups. So depressing - that “type” would usually have stayed in the bars in town.

SpnBaby1967 · 22/06/2020 20:55

Hiya everyone!

Well I took a long lunch break and ventured out to B&Q with DH today. Only other large shop I have been to was Tesco and that was early on. Saw a couple of people with masks supporting their chins. Couple of men pensioners with their masks pulled down for a good chin wag.

We're now all sorted to attempt to learn to be gardeners though. Havent got the foggiest how to start but gonna give it a shot. Our garden is basically a corner patch of dirt and a grass section which is more dandelion than grass.

Our school has been amazing for the kids, non dementoring but it's a massive school & the return of the allowed years and key workers has meant they cant open to the rest as there are simply no spare spaces. I feel for everyone whose kids are still off, but I'm quietly confident that september will be a positive outcome. I hope I'm not wrong.

Nihiloxica · 22/06/2020 20:55

Welcome back, chocolate. I had that week a few weeks ago. Grim as fuck.

My patience with the key worker designation (which I supported at first) and their preferential access to school, which I was proud of the UK for insisting upon (shamefully against the wishes of some schools) a few months ago.

I saw some key workers on MN arguing against the filthy, scummy children of the non-key riff-raff being allowed to put their precious key progeny at risk and I was like "HELL no" ShockHmm

It was one of the first times I saw the naked, unjustifiable selfishness of people I thought I (and my kids) were making sacrifices to protect.

Clearly they were up for an ongoing two tier society. So that was the end of that in terms of my support for exclusive key worker education.

I know they were total outliers as key workers go. It just hadn't occurred to me (fool) that anyone whose kids were in school would be blocking school for other kids.

MinesaPinot · 22/06/2020 20:57

@Weedsnseeds1 that's exactly what we said when we watched it!

Have to say I've met some Colin Robinson's in my time.

Mascotte · 22/06/2020 20:57

Is there anything open to do in Scotland, does anyone know?

Nihiloxica · 22/06/2020 20:58

I also read today that my lovely swimming loch is now a haven for broken glass

Oh no, no, no, no Shock

Even bubble partying doesn't deserve that. Sad

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 22/06/2020 21:01

Mascotte m&s is selling mini caterpillar cakes... 😂

chocolatesweets · 22/06/2020 21:05

Oh , we all want what is best for our kids @Nihiloxica

It's heart breaking what's happening with schools. I just feel sorry for the kids. They could be having a great time at home and that's fine but they need to socialise. Bless them.

So much fear everywhere with this virus. I still don't understand why not with any other virus. I'm a covidiot.

Wales is behind. Sad makes me sad as I'm quite patriotic.

fartingsparkles · 22/06/2020 21:06

@dowser Hair looks great. I am terrible for cutting and colouring my own hair. Have done it for years. Every so often I get a trim at a hairdressers but its awkward with dc2 at the age she is, and having no one to take her reliably, so I generally cba.

@pearly that's a disgrace. An awful way to behave.

@spudlet don't worry about it. You're beat to speak to school 1 2 1 anyway if you have questions. Zoom is crap! It's the sort of thing i would totally beat myself up over though
