At house parties there was always that one person in the long black coat who refused to take it off.

@KeithLeMonde - Natrel deodorant?

Another one - Minx magazine. The adventures of Tanga Hewlett-Packard. Grin And useful tips re. how to make a few quid to last until next payday if you'd spent all your money on clothes and going out. Grin

weebarra · 17/06/2020 11:39

I was a complete indie kid in the 90's, went to uni in 1995.
Black leggings, band t-shirt - I loved my Elastica 'Vaseline' one and my Teenage Fanclub ones.
Henna hair, velvet jacket, K cider.
I got together with DH in 96, he was a wee bit more grunge than me and had several plaid shirts. I still love 90's music.

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/06/2020 11:52

Minx magazine yes! Was that the one with black and white posters of male models? I’m sure Vernon Kay was one of them. And one called James that everyone loved too.

KeithLeMonde · 17/06/2020 11:54

Spiky - Natrel Plus! Thank you.

A squirt of that and a squirt of Paloma Picasso and I was good to go!

Fahrenheit still makes me feel horny when I smell it!

I'm ashamed to admit this is true for me too!

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/06/2020 11:55

I had the lace dress.
Modelled on Gina G ohh ahh just a little bit video.
Mates mum told me I’d forgotten to put my dress on and was only wearing my ‘slip’

MoltoAgitato · 17/06/2020 11:58

OMG Clean and Clear! Paint stripper for your face.

Does anyone else remember SKY magazine, with Karen the agony aunt?

Also Body Shop perfume bar.

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/06/2020 12:02

No I stand corrected- I was thinking of mizz magazine.

borntohula · 17/06/2020 12:05

Doh, I was born in 88, sounds like being a teen in the 90s was fun!

geojojo · 17/06/2020 12:06

Not read the whole thread but I remember everyone having a body shop bag, wearing heather shimmer lipstick, dewberry everything, vanilla musk/secrets body spray, spending Friday evenings either at late night roller skating or sleepovers watching nightmare on elm street from the video shop, spending hours on the phone each night to my best friend, wearing 'hipster' jeans and always showing my midriff...

geojojo · 17/06/2020 12:09

Oh yes! Everyone ruining their hair with sun in! I had naturally very light hair so fortunately never used it.

dancingonmycervix · 17/06/2020 13:17

I'm 42. This thread is epic!!

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 17/06/2020 13:40

Arm bracelets.

There was a danger they would get hooked on someone else’s clothes when you were dancing away to Whigfield in the club and then get burned by the hundreds of ciggies being waved around until you freed yourself.

tectonicplates · 17/06/2020 13:46

What were those bracelets called that you sort of slapped on to your wrist? It was a flat object and then you put it on so it curled around your wrist?

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 17/06/2020 14:13

Slap bands?

pintin · 17/06/2020 17:35

I remember Vernon from Mizz magazine. I didn't put two and two together until just there! So it was Vernon Kay!!! 🤦‍♀️

Mrhodgeymaheg · 17/06/2020 19:07

The citrus colour fashion trend. I wore an orange skirt and a lime green grandad t shirt with a wonder bra underneath and the top buttons undone. Topped the look off with silver stilletos or platform white PVC mules. Class. Then progressed to tracksuit tops, retro trainers and combats with crop top underneath and lots of eyeliner. Clothes still cost the same then as they did now, so pocket money didn't go far buying clothes.

Anyone remember Mizz, More and B magazine?

Ant and Dec were actually recording artists in the 90's. I bought one of their songs! Radio One roadshows in the summer.

winterisstillcoming · 17/06/2020 19:38

United colours of Benetton
Kookai
Morgan

Are all on Zalando!

Also spent hours in Our Price. Loved it if the single or cassette had the lyrics on the cover.

Immaculate collection

Kernowgal · 17/06/2020 22:55

this thread has been a trip down memory lane! To a much more innocent time when I had few cares. Ah it’s made me very happy to read through this :)

Some of my memorable 90s outfits
Black leggings, long white shirt, black tank top with "attitude" written on it.
Black leggings, long white shirt with frills down the front, black waistcoat, black slouchy hat with flower on the front
Red wrapover skirt worn with white t shirt with a big strawberry on the front
Pink denim button through skirt worn with big belt with heart shaped buckle and t shirt with a pink gingham star on
Slouch socks, blue floral leggings, long blue patterned jumper with cream roll neck underneath (sweating my tits off at the roller disco)
Black flared hipsters and a turquoise crushed velvet crop top from Morgan
A green slip dress that was a bit see through worn with big black knickers for decency and a lacy cardi that came off as soon as I was inside the under 18s night!
Under 18s night, sometimes foam parties!

Pandapotato · 18/06/2020 09:33

This thread is amazing! So many lovely memories. I was 14 in 1994 and my 14 year olds current life seems to similar, yet also so different. The teenage angst is still strong, but I’m so very glad I didn’t have to deal with social media back in the day.

Absolutely LOLing at memories of vernon Kay in those funny stories 🤣

@whoissylvia oh god yes to shaders and toners! My hair was often a patchy ginger and purple mess.
And dolcies was the place for shoes. Always worn with slouch socks, of course!
