How do I accept that my DC just isn’t as clever as a lot of her peers?

I’ve never really thought about it until now to be honest. DC (Y1) is likely to go back to school next week and the class has been split into groups obviously based on ability. It’s also obvious that my DC group is for children that struggle more than others. I also know that she isn’t quite as advanced as her peers from parents evening, etc.
I feel totally crushed! How do you come to accept that your child just isn’t as clever as some of their peers?

It’s too early to know how intelligent he is. But also intelligence is just one quality. There are many many other more important qualities

It’s wayy to early to know her what she’s like!

When my son, now 51, started school, I was so,proud as I knew he would be singled out as very bright for his age and probably be moved up to a higher class. Could not wait to go to parents evening to hear about my brainy boy.

What a shock I got! I was told he was average and just about keeping up. It taught me a lesson in life in that all children are different and as long as you do your best that is what matters. Mostly things balance out
