At today's briefing, definitely not himself.

I was amazed when he said he'd only heard about the free school meals campaign today

I wasn't amazed, but only because he's an incompetent sack of shit. Obviously it's the sort of thing a PM should've noticed!

Cailleach1 · 16/06/2020 21:12

He didn't deal with Brexit at all. It is just that those ERG and their ilk voted for a worse situation that May had put before them. May had at least envisaged issues arising from the Ireland and Northern Ireland Protocol if the rest of the UK weren't on the same page.

It is going to be a huge surprise when this issue rears it's head again. And of course, they'll act like it was in invisible ink on the Withdrawal Agreement. They'll be faux outraged they agreed to different parts of the UK being treated differently. May for all her faults.... . But Johnson would make most sentient creatures look like geniuses.

RUOKHon · 16/06/2020 21:12

I heard rumours that he’s a barely functioning alcoholic and has to be very heavily ‘managed’.

ArcheryAnnie · 16/06/2020 21:12

The problem with Boris is that he has a track record of getting top jobs, and then doing them only do far as he can be bothered, and just handwaving the work away when he really can't be arsed, or if he wants to pay attention to one of his other highly-paid top jobs.

So, he's got the top job he always wanted, and - surprise! - has found he actually has to do some work. We're in the middle of a crisis, so he can't just fuck off and muck about on a panel show. He's been required to step up to the plate for the first time in his life, he's cocked it up royally, and as a result a LOT of people have died. (People would have died anyway, but if he'd handled it properly, not nearly as many.)

No wonder he looks ill. I'd look ill, too, if I had that on my head.

HesterShaw1 · 16/06/2020 21:14

I do kind of think that there are some things the PM doesn't deal with, but the key point is, he should have competent ministers and departments who deal with these things on behalf of the the government.

The problem is, is that our 'prime minister' has effectively become a president, and his ministers are terrified to take a decision without his nod. Witness how everything was hamstrung when he was out of action. No one else wants to be held accountable.

I am seeing it in my business. Our industry is currently paralysed because no government department wants to give is the nod to resume trading, in case they get it "wrong". We're in a ridiculous limbo.

UnholyStramash · 16/06/2020 21:14

Not surprising after how ill he was with Covid19. Very little seems to be said about the complications lots of people have for a long time (and nobody knows how long exactly since it’s new disease) afterwards. I don’t wish the PM ill but I feel much more sympathy for the people worrying about maintaining their income, caring for dependents, with very little in the way of savings to use, etcetera while they hopefully recover from this god awful disease.

I could well believe this - he acts like one.
Crescent11 · 16/06/2020 21:17

I thought he looked better than other recent appearances.

I want him to be well enough to face a long spell in prison for the number of deaths his inaction in March has caused.

Maybe he's following his hero Churchill and having a stand in instead of showing up. He's not ill, it's just the impersonator isn't quite right.

MadameMeursault · 16/06/2020 21:24

I’d be looking I’ll if I was responsible for thousands of deaths. Poor diddums.

MadameMeursault · 16/06/2020 21:25

*ill!

PerkingFaintly · 16/06/2020 21:28

JudgeRindersMinder, I'm so sorry.Flowers

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 16/06/2020 21:29

He is a man of words,
I thought he spoke quite convincingly today. back to his normal self, definitely more charismatic than the usual speakers, Hancock et al

Fosler · 16/06/2020 21:30

Well, he can't win. He's wrong if he does! He's wrong if he doesn't! At least he's taking the job on. If he walked away now, like Cameron did, we would be plunged into greater chaos.

This government are having to deal with an unprecedented situation. There's no looking back at past events for any guidance or past experience. Add to that with MSM and SM picking apart every comment and every decision by the hour, no wonder he looks stressed! I wouldn't want his job! I wouldn't want any job in government. So I'm grateful he's there. There's no one that I can picture doing any better.

There is far too much division right now. It is what it is and the only way, or the best way, to go forward is to stop complaining and work together.

Far too much division? No. Too much pretence that everyone pretending things are fine would be beneficial.

Holding our government to account is our duty. That's what you as a citizen are supposed to be doing. If you aren't prepared to do it, that really isn't anything to be proud of.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/06/2020 21:34

At least Cameron had the 'decency' to resign when he knew he'd really fucked things up. BJ keeps saying how proud he is of all the fucking up he's done.

tinytemper66 · 16/06/2020 21:35

Why are people defending this fuck up?

StoorieHoose · 16/06/2020 21:36

A man of words?

A man of waffle more like

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 16/06/2020 21:36

jeez, BJ did not cause the pandemic, he is not personally to Blame for the pandemic.
i bet SAGE were arguing plenty yabout when to start lockdown.
it is a novel virus.
no one knew the public's reaction, ie, that the UK people would refuse to lockdown until actually Told to do so!

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 16/06/2020 21:37

who would you rather?

Fosler · 16/06/2020 21:37

What's with the personal insults about his appearance? Those who throw those insults around? You are perfect? (No doubt in your own small minds!).

How bullying and childish you all are! Go take a good look at yourselves in the mirror and examine your character. I wonder how you'd present, under such stress and responsibility, on tv, with no hairdresser etc! Hypocrites! Should be ashamed of yourselves. No better than school yard bullies!

StoorieHoose · 16/06/2020 21:38

No different to the personal insults thrown to Nicola Sturgeon

category12 · 16/06/2020 21:38

with no hairdresser etc!

Oh come on, Boris has never used a hairdresser. Grin
