I was wondering today about a few old posters that either left or I haven’t seen in ages

Does anyone else ever wonder about posters they dont see anymore

I don't think I've seen Sparklingbrook for aaaaaaged

ElizabethMainwaring · 15/06/2020 19:36

@Mamabem
Sparklingbrook is on here aaaaaall the time.Smile

ArriettyJones · 15/06/2020 19:40

Sorry I’m reading this all out of order and back to front but just wanted to say @NoseHair that your understanding of ESD is the same as mine and I’m not sure why it’s being met with scepticism. I thought it was widely known that she profited very well from MN and discussed her profits fairly openly on other SM.

OhTheRoses · 15/06/2020 19:41

Oh Quint I miss Quint. Still have her business card :).
SarahandQuack is that really you - the you who came to a last minute piss-up nr Waterloo organised by the one and only HeartsTrumpDiamonds?

Steady on. I am not on here half as much as I used to be. Grin Find it a bit difficult to join in sometimes.

So many untruths.
ScribblyGum · 15/06/2020 19:51

Threadworm was also an excellent poster. she started the ode to a dead hamster thread I think. Wonderful stuff. [nostalgic]

Walkingtohealth · 15/06/2020 19:52

Moondog was a speech and language therapist as I recall and very knowledgable. She was also very very snippy at times.

smokinaces · 15/06/2020 19:53

I've loved reading this thread, so many old names. I went to meets around 2011-2014. I met many a mumsnetter, and still have a handful as friends on FB and in real life. Often think about some of the others. It wasn't all bad here over the years. I joined over a decade ago, and flit in and out now, under various name changes. But can't seem to completely sever the ties

ArriettyJones · 15/06/2020 19:55

So many untruths.

What’s your basis for being so sure @Sparklingbrook ?

Do you remember the multiple emergencies and dramas? The cryptic pregnancy? The sudden eviction? The multiple “ hackings” of her Mumsnet account (including the time someone posted from her account that her son was dead)?

KaronAVyrus · 15/06/2020 19:55

I had a soft spot for Moondog - she could be amazingly rude.

I remember it all.
RonniePickering · 15/06/2020 20:00

I liked ESD, drama prone as she was.

OK I really don't know everything about ESD but her account wasn't really hacked, someone just created a new account, copied her username and changed one character ie EatSh!tDerek. I don't know if it's possible to do that anymore.

She really wasn't very discreet about who she was IRL so it's not unlikely that someone with a grudge (and I think there was some drama in her life then?) might do that.

SwedishEdith · 15/06/2020 20:11

UnquietDad wrote a Dr Who book, I think.

I used to enjoy the Aloha v Bloss bible wars threads Grin.

I quite liked her until the day i saw her crowing about her monetary gains from MNers. I’ve seen it said that that was their fault for being so gullible and so keen to click around and play the patron, but it has to be at least half her responsibility if she’s the one giving out her address and bank details.
ScrambledSmegs · 15/06/2020 20:13

There was another blerk called Gin something wasn't there? Had a weird semi-flirtation with Stratters.

ArriettyJones · 15/06/2020 20:13

Cluck, not click.^

TheCanterburyWhales · 15/06/2020 20:14

Did ESD really confess then?

ArriettyJones · 15/06/2020 20:17

More like gloating. But she was “a right laff” so bizarrely loads of —easy marks— are prepared to give her a pass. 🤷🏽‍♀️

ScrambledSmegs · 15/06/2020 20:19

I know I commented but is there any way we could please move on from ESD, otherwise it does look like it's a concerted effort to get the thread taken down?

ArriettyJones · 15/06/2020 20:23

Why would we want the thread taken down? Confused

If you think discussion of ESD runs the risk of getting the thread taken down, fine, but don’t ascribe sinister, underhanded motivations to us.

exLtEveDallas · 15/06/2020 20:24

Good call Scrambled.

I still miss Valhalla/DBF. Well not really miss her as we are FB buddies, but her knowledge on the dog threads was invaluable, even if her tone wasn’t always appreciated (understatement)

I often wonder what happened to DoinMeCleaning, another dog nut that I liked.

StoorieHoose · 15/06/2020 20:24

So many names already mentioned.

I often think of CremolaFoam - I think she had some worries with her son but she started one of the best threads on MN when auto correct changed her thread title from Fudge to Fud and how she offered her Fud to the postman - cue lots of Scottish posters ending themselves over the error
