Old posters you sometimes think of

I was wondering today about a few old posters that either left or I haven’t seen in ages
Riven , eatshitderek (i think that’s what the username was) and another one I can’t remember the full name ghost something who was in temp accommodation I think ?
Does anyone else ever wonder about posters they dont see anymore

I think Xenia has mellowed over years.

woodhill · 16/06/2020 22:40

Julia Scurr?

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/06/2020 23:18

Xenia is fabulous.

OhTheRoses · 16/06/2020 23:28

@Xenia you need to see this. :)

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/06/2020 23:33

Sash don't let her know we have been saying nice things about her Grin

IhateBoswell · 16/06/2020 23:57

Just don't be sending Xenia any chocolates 😬

MulticolourMophead · 17/06/2020 00:12

Does anyone remember OverTheShoulderBoulderHolder. It was a long time ago, but she was in a very abusive relationship, in South Africa. I wonder what became of her.

Yes, I remember, and still think of her, hoping she's managed to find some peace.

I've been here since 2009, under a number of names. I think a lot of people began namechanging after Jeffreygate and the hacking. I wonder if that list is still out there publically.

An ex found me under one name, so I namechanged, but it's been nice to see familiar names here. I do keep using one of my older names for posts specific to stuff relating to ex, but I don't overlap the subjects I post in with this name.

@BitOfFun I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. You gave me a lot of support some years ago when I was thinking of leaving Ex, and I'm so glad I did. MN helped me to realise I was in an abusive relationship and provided support and advice to get out.

Wonderful trip down memory lane. I’ve dipped in and out over the years and frequently NC as I’m spooked by the data breaches and, now, by lazy journalists c&p-ing.

DC was sent a woolly hug when very ill; they still cuddle it many years later (in rude health I’m happy to say). MN was a wonderful support then, especially the Children’s health board. I won’t namecheck as there were some very sad endings but certain posters really kept me going.

shuttheblinds · 17/06/2020 02:11

Wow so many familiar names bringing back memories.
Does nanybody remember SuzyWong? She always posted a one liner!
I have a few on my fb. Valhalla got banned when caught sock puppering. Still here in different names though, often chats on fb about post. Did wonderful things in the dog house section.
Misdee, pink peter her dh had the heart transplant, also on my fb, they are doing really well
Riven left because she often got a hard time from posters. She had lots of money given to her from posters to help and the bitter ones had it in for her. Also she kept being outed.
BitofFun, and ShineOn - Were you friends in rl? I seem to remember you knew each other and posts were a lot of fun when you were both on them together. So sorry to hear you are ill, such sad news.
I joined years ago and remember Cod being so funny, her spelling! She was great on S&B topic too. Also Hecate was lovely to me when I joined,
Didn’t MorningPaper end up getting a job with MNHQ or am I imagining that?
MN is so different now, it has grown massively from the early days but it’s still the first place I come over too if I have a spare 30 minutes.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 17/06/2020 02:21

@SarahAndQuack so nice to see you on here again! Hope you are all well. I don’t post very much any more apart from on a couple of special threads...

Was very sad to hear of Fru0la’s passing. I met her (among many, many other absolutely lovely MN’ers) at several meet ups. A real loss. Sad

occa · 17/06/2020 04:32

shut I'm not sure it was exactly a job per se but MorningPaper did the daily roundup emails for MNHQ for quite a while. They were sometimes absolutely roaringly funny.

ArriettyJones · 17/06/2020 08:13

@darumafan Flowers

TheCanterburyWhales · 17/06/2020 08:15

MorningPaper's roundups were brilliant. I would be literally refreshing my inbox on Friday afternoon for the Roundup.
After her they weren't the same. Does the RU still exist?

7ofNine · 17/06/2020 08:19

Aitch did it for some time after mp, but it's just a corporate style roundup now, mainly because the site is too big to have personalisation.

SemperIdem · 17/06/2020 09:12

Everlong. The loveliest, most thoughtful and well reasoned poster.

merrygoround51 · 17/06/2020 09:13

I found Mumsnet when pregnant with my first13 years ago and I thought it was fab - tiktok, bof etc all amazing posters. I enjoyed Bonsoir , Xenia and Laqueen but they were almost parodies, albeit entertaining fun ones. I did find the posters like Pagwatch who posted pics of their houses whilst being ‘modest’ quite stealth boasty

AngelaScandal · 17/06/2020 09:28

I found MN thanks to Xenia slagging off state school teachers (the horror of our spelling) and the thread made its way to the TES. I was quoted here 😂
I will say Xenia always made excellent points about women’s careers and earning potential. That is the stuff we should be teaching girls in (state) schools.

Samcro · 17/06/2020 09:41

@OhTheRoses

I have never actually seen Xenia be rude to anyone over the last 10 years We don't always agree but she is a very decent person I think.

I loved crumbs fantasies. The perfect house, village, Christmas and family. Advising us plebs on how much wine to buy for a drinks party or what to cook for an informal 'sups' party. Like Jilly Cooper on speed.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 17/06/2020 10:05

i found MN thanks to Morning Paper and SWMNBN found its way to The Guardian

where is Morning Paper now
and the roundup?

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 17/06/2020 10:06

oh, sorry, round up already mentioned

IrmaFayLear · 17/06/2020 10:08

Ah for the days when the biggest blood-pressure-inducing threads were the state v private ones.

I remember nearly exploding when someone called comprehensive School Oxbridge applicants “state school chancers” Shock.

Haven’t seen a state v private ruck for ages.

Didn’t she do some weird kind of cake for Christmas? And did goats figure somehow? You have to give her credit for entertainment value.
TheCanterburyWhales · 17/06/2020 10:15

I think the put fairy lights on the village sheep. Or maybe goat.
