Old posters you sometimes think of

I was wondering today about a few old posters that either left or I haven’t seen in ages
Riven , eatshitderek (i think that’s what the username was) and another one I can’t remember the full name ghost something who was in temp accommodation I think ?
Does anyone else ever wonder about posters they dont see anymore

OP posts:

No, I'm being just as sycophantic (or rose-tinted nostalgic, at least). I do really miss when it was smaller and less anonymous (though I also remember when I first joined everyone was also nostalgic for the good old days when it was smaller and less anonymous, so ...).

I had a bit of a posting break when I left my ex-H, and then came back gradually after I got a bit of time to type now DD's in nursery.

SupremeCommanderTrinityRhino · 15/06/2020 09:32

Hey Trinity here.
We are ok.
I can’t believe so many people remember me.
All these names that I remember. It’s been lovely reading this thread.

Dd1 is 20! Dd2 is 15! and Gecko is 13!
I almost can’t believe it Grin

I’ve been sober for 8 years. Life is still tough with an anxiety disorder, fibro and ME but we’re always looking up.

Last year the girls were noticed by family support worker that they have autistic traits,
They all have a lot of issues with making friends, food, sensory overload, sleeping, anxiety and self esteem.
They are on a waiting list for an asd assessment.
But they have all been diagnosed with developmental trauma.

I always did remember just nodding and pretending to agree when people said to me that losing their dads and then their stepdad 4 years later wasn’t going to effect them as ‘they were so young’...

But despite all that we are ok. Very much a team and looking to the future.

I hope everyone is ok. The world is a strange and scary place right now.

KaronAVyrus · 15/06/2020 09:35

Gecko is 13!!! How the hell is that possible!

Hopefully your girls will get the support they need with ASD.

The world is a strange place but we’ll all get through it Flowers

TheCanterburyWhales · 15/06/2020 09:39

Flowers trin. I see you on FB and also the lovely LtEve.
It's funny isn't it, not recognising each other on here because of namechangers and just time I suppose...
I'll probably namechange after this which is a shame as I like this name.

LadyEloise · 15/06/2020 09:40

TheFormidableMrsC
Wishing you a speedy recovery.Thanks

CogitoErgoSometimes was a very wise poster. I hope she is still around.

Vicarinatutu has namechanged. She is always so kind. There was some trouble with her ds and work and Vicar being recognised on Mumsnet re comments I think. I hope everything is ok now for her.

There was a very knowledgable on jewellery poster, I can't remember her name.

Does anyone remember the name of the poster who was very worried about a clicking sound she would hear when using her bathroom at night. She felt she was being watched.

Also the poster who was worried somebody was "living" in her attic. I think her fears were realised and she stopped posting because of court proceedings ( or she may have been a troll ).

ssd · 15/06/2020 09:43

Nice to see you trinity, wishing you and your family all the best Flowers

DottyDotAgain · 15/06/2020 09:48

I've been here since 2001, under various DottyDot-type names!

When I first joined, there were about 3 of us and I felt like an imposter because it was DP who was pregnant, not me - and even in 2000/2001 it was a bit scary/unusual to be a lesbian couple having a baby.

MN was brilliant - saw me through that, then having ds2, then DP and I having our civil ceremony.

It's lovely seeing all the old names. These days I do more MN reading than posting, but still love coming back to it - there's no escaping really... Smile

Enderthedragon · 15/06/2020 09:52

I'm still convinced that LaQueen used to frequent the TES forums years ago... There was a poster on there called 'Celticqueen' who was fairly obviously full of shit but a prolific poster. Her life story was different to LaQueen (she was a single mum I think) but the posting style was so similar, and what really clinched it for me was that they both used the word 'bleddy' a lot! I'm so sure they were the same person! 😂

I remember LaQueen and something about a 'boutique' hotel in Ireland?

Enderthedragon · 15/06/2020 09:55

Who was the poster who got banned one New Year's Eve and everyone just went totally batshit about it? Or was it that MN shut down on NYE? I can't remember now?!

I always believed EatShitDerek (she had other usernames as well didn't she?) but I think StrandedBear's story was a bit far fetched - she even put pictures up of her apparently like 8 months pregnant and absolutely no hint of a bump. I'm sure it was her as well who caused a bit of a shitstorm because she posted about having sex with her boyfriend on the sofa whilst her 3 year old was in the room playing?!

Enderthedragon · 15/06/2020 09:58

I remember you too Trinity, am glad you are doing OK ❤️

I also remember the poster on the bereavement board who lost her little girl Mia to an underlying heart condition when she was about 2. It was so sad, but the poster wrote about her so beautifully. And of course Mrs DeVere and Expat and their daughters as well ❤️

Laaf80 · 15/06/2020 10:14

The culture of mumsnet good and bad was very different then.

There was a woman who had a few kids, a useless partner and a step daughter that she struggled with. Holiday I think.
I often wondered what became of them.

And ghost.

I cannot believe that MrsDevere got banned, she was so lovely.

Leakinglikeacolander · 15/06/2020 10:17

Why did MrsD get banned?Shock

NoWordForFluffy · 15/06/2020 10:24

Wasn't NYE something to do with spoof threads being posted? And whoever was on admin / mod duty went a bit mad and shut the site?
Larkspurandhollyhocks · 15/06/2020 10:26

How is it that you can get teary about people you've never even met. Trinity and Gecko, I felt like I whizzed back in a time machine just now. I name change so often, it's sad because you don't develop relationships in the same way with other posters Sad

megletthesecond · 15/06/2020 10:34

Aaaw, lovely to hear from you @SupremeCommanderTrinityRhino . They were a brutal few years Flowers. Glad you guys are pushing through.

SunshineCake · 15/06/2020 11:05

The past loveliness of MN was when posters wanted to buy *@SupremeCommanderTrinityRhino a coat and when time company heard what the posters were doing gave it for free iirc.

The site was once so small that when I posted asking if a poster knew someone from school and then went out, I came back to the poster freaking out. A few hours later when I posted to say I was going out and I wasn't responsible for what happened while I was out went down very well. Very funny as most had seen the posts, someone even stuck up for me and I felt like I belonged.

Having read this thread and feel two posts are about me but they can't even be arsed to attempt a past user name, thought better that haven't, and are posting cruel untruths I see I still don't really belong.

SupremeCommanderTrinityRhino · 15/06/2020 11:07

Hey larkspur, it’s so lovely to find out people remember us.

I thought maybe people would remember that she was Princess Gecko Blanket when she was born till we sorted a name and Gecko stuck on here.
She still gets called Gecko or baby rhino Grin

ItsInTheShed · 15/06/2020 11:08

usernames are often forgotten....who were you?

SupremeCommanderTrinityRhino · 15/06/2020 11:09

That coat is very much loved and is now rather worn. Full of love

PollyDangerCrackers · 15/06/2020 11:23

I've been here since 2006 but never a 'name' as I read more than I posted. This place was a wonderful, warm, female space back then when I was incredibly lonely, and although I'm still here, still mostly reading, this thread is making me ridiculously nostalgic!

So many names that I've not heard in eons, but a special place for CheerfulYank who once said to me, on a day where I was blathering on but secretly desperately in need of a friendly voice, that she liked the cut of my jib. I've carried that (saddo that I am) around with me, the fact that someone across the pond thought I was ok...

And I can't believe that Gecko is 13. How did that happen??

ShiningTor · 15/06/2020 11:24

What happened to Princesspeahead?

steamburn · 15/06/2020 11:32

I think of @Rindercella. I hope she is doing ok.

steamburn · 15/06/2020 11:36

I also wonder about @MrsKoala. Thread after thread about her unsupportive DH. I hope she finally made the connection and LTB!

ScrambledSmegs · 15/06/2020 11:39

Oh it's bloody lovely to see you, @SupremeCommanderTrinityRhino. I almost can't believe Gecko is 13!

I'm sorry things are still tough, I hope you have support.

GeorgianaD · 15/06/2020 11:42

Yes, indeed. MrsKoala is one who has been through the mill.
