I was wondering today about a few old posters that either left or I haven’t seen in ages
Riven , eatshitderek (i think that’s what the username was) and another one I can’t remember the full name ghost something who was in temp accommodation I think ?
Does anyone else ever wonder about posters they dont see anymore

@Trumpton ahhh that’s good to hear! How long ago was that btw?

MrsCastiel · 14/06/2020 14:30

@Littlepurpleflower

Even in a private message it is still doxxing (sharing real life identity) and as I say up thread I don't like her but the info she shared willingly was during a different time, pre Daily Mail and the site being so big.

BrokenBrit · 14/06/2020 14:32

Who was the poster who lives in rural US and kept taking in a stray dog who lived nearby? She always had funny, interesting, and believable tales, and wrote as well as an author.

Cupofteaforbea was inspiring and always very kind and had wonderful advice for me in a previous life.

Zombie and Cattheifkeith were just so kind and are dearly missed Flowers.

FlibbertyGiblets · 14/06/2020 14:35

I agree MrsC giving away people's identity isn't a nice or good thing to do even if the person is the most horribliest.

Andante57 · 14/06/2020 14:36

Derxa yes I wonder why Bertrand has gone as she used to spend a good deal of her day on mn.
Was she banned? Or maybe she decided enough was enough. She used to post as Seeker and then she took the name of an explorer - can’t remember the name - and then Bertrand and had a distinctive posting style with lots of ............at the end of posts.

GoodbyeToCare · 14/06/2020 14:40

@7ofNine yes! Nicklebabe!

Thank you Smile

Saucery · 14/06/2020 14:42

Bertrand had a bit of a mix up with name changes on a thread. Nothing that could be called sock puppeting exactly and the posters she was talking to under two different names didn’t seem to mind, but she disappeared after that.

TheCanterburyWhales · 14/06/2020 14:44

The pregnant at uni poster is the one people get Derek mixed up with. I get stranded bear and stealth polar mixed up but think the uni one is stranded.
Oddly a real life friend of mine has the uni one on FB as she was researching surprise pregnancies for a paper and stranded was very keen to be part of her paper.
I believe there were doubts about her authenticity.

Todayissunny · 14/06/2020 14:47

Marslady. Anyone remember her? I'm surprised she hasn't been mentioned
She talked me through my twin pregnancy (14 years ago), birth and first few weeks after.

Rollergirl11 · 14/06/2020 14:49

I asked last night but not sure anybody saw. Who was the really well known poster that it turned out had created loads of sock puppets and it was a huge shock to everyone?

Also who was the poster who posted all the way through their pregnancy and then her baby died and it all turned out to be untrue. Lots of people had been taken in by her and then it transpired that she’d been posting on other forums and had taken photos from them to post on Mumsnet?

Andante57 · 14/06/2020 14:50

Saucery - genuine question, but surely if Bertrand was using two different names on one thread, then that is sock puppet ing?
Or did she admit to it on the thread?

Querencia · 14/06/2020 14:51

I remember deckthehalls and often wonder how her and her 2 daughters are

Institutkarite · 14/06/2020 14:52

I think that the mix up with Bertrand Russell came about because a person had registered as Bertrand RusselI the two names look identical but on the second one the last letter is a capital i not a small L

GreenTeaMug · 14/06/2020 14:57

I remembr EleanorHandbasket because I thoought it was a great name.

She openly used another name too (I can't remember it) but was clear she was the same person.

TheCanterburyWhales · 14/06/2020 15:00

Eleanor was one of the people mentioned a lot on here. We had lots of fun back in the day.
Roller- fake dead babies are sadly very common in troll land. There have been loads.

Littlepurpleflower · 14/06/2020 15:00

Ok, sorry, I thought it was a public profile like Mrs Hinch or something.

Trumpton · 14/06/2020 15:01

@Rollergirl11
2009 and 2013

BikeRunSki · 14/06/2020 15:03

I lived “Lottie* S Wilf updates. She named changed a few times, and Wilf became an MNer too. Havn’t seen her for a while though.

7ofNine · 14/06/2020 15:08

@Todayissunny someone mentioned marslady upthread for her lemon drizzle cake!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/06/2020 15:10

Could have sworn Xenia is on some of the university threads (fairly recently - weeks ago - anyway).

MrsCastiel · 14/06/2020 15:11

@Littlepurpleflower

It is a public profile BUT if I was to direct you to it from this thread then that would be unfair. For all I know she is no longer unpleasant online and is just getting on with her life (even if I knew differently, it still would be unpleasant of me to link the online persona to the real life persona)

I hope that makes sense.

iklboo · 14/06/2020 15:25

Xenia is definitely here. Spoke to them yesterday on a thread.

Andante57 · 14/06/2020 15:26

Institut oh that explains it.

Myhouse173 · 14/06/2020 15:28

I wonder how RainMinusBow is and toddler mother catlady/mini

Institutkarite · 14/06/2020 15:49

@Andante57

Institut oh that explains it.
To make it clear it was another person that had registered as Bertrand RusselI, I watched the conversation unfold. The original Bertrand had no idea that another poster had done that. I remembered thinking that it was obviously deliberate and the second poster was quite dismissive of Bertrand's concerns. The fake Bertrand had been having conversations on other threads and was deliberately confusing posters. I thought it was quite mean of the fake Bertrand
