Old posters you sometimes think of

I was wondering today about a few old posters that either left or I haven’t seen in ages
Riven , eatshitderek (i think that’s what the username was) and another one I can’t remember the full name ghost something who was in temp accommodation I think ?
Does anyone else ever wonder about posters they dont see anymore

OP posts:
StrangeTimes · 14/06/2020 09:37

Don’t miss any of the older posters. Back in the day it was very clique and users posted so many personal details. Can’t remember their username but one was a magistrate near where I live, it was obvious who she was in RL ! She wasn’t a nice poster but my god she got fawned all over.

I always just skipped her spots. That was about 16 years ago. Funny how I remembered her.

I don’t understand the fawning over certain users here on MN. I change my name monthly at least.

TenThousandSpoons · 14/06/2020 09:38

Dittany - taught me so much.
Lots of other names here I recognise too.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 14/06/2020 09:39

Wasn't there a poster who used to flounce constantly only to reappear under a slight name change a few days later?
Name escapes me
I'll rack my brains

MamOfTwo · 14/06/2020 09:43

I think of Tunnocks sometimes and hope she and her kids are doing OK.

Also it's annoying me that I can't think of the name of the poster mentioned upthread - the one who had a baby with her gardener. She also possibly found 3K in her hedge but that may have been another poster entirely! I hope she is OK anyhow.

Ernieshere · 14/06/2020 09:45

I loved the flouncers.

Especially the -

OP "Im leaving, I can't do this anymore, bunch of bastards"

MN "Oh please stay, we love you really"

OP "Oh o.k then"

Megatron · 14/06/2020 09:48

@Soubriquet ah that's good to know about Derek.

We had many a 'debate' and quite a spectacular falling out once many moons ago (under a different user name). 🤣 I always enjoyed seeing her posts though as you knew the thread wouldn't be dull.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 14/06/2020 09:49

Usual something
That was the name
Flounced more often than I change my socks
And loved the attention
Ah fun times

Andante57 · 14/06/2020 09:49

I also miss Bertrandrussell though I didn’t always agree with her.
There was a scary poster called theincrediblesteamingnit - woe betide any poster who disagreed with her - who I haven’t seen around for ages.

Billyjoearmstrong · 14/06/2020 09:50

This is going back to about 2006, 2007?

But lolatheshowgirl.

The one who said she had cooked her escaped hamster in a vegetable stew and the family hadn’t noticed until they had finished it and noticed fur. Anyone remember her? She had a few other batshit threads too.

Also Laqueen.

And the Scottish lady about 11 or so years ago where a huge number of Mumsnetters got together to go and clean her house for her when she became overwhelmed with the hoarding/mess. I can’t for the life of me remember her name.

Ernieshere · 14/06/2020 09:53

Usualsuspect ?

UsualSuspect?

VaniIIaSugarr · 14/06/2020 09:53

What happened to BertrandRussel? Did she namechange?

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 09:53

Billyjoearmstrong · 14/06/2020 09:54

@VaTeLaverLesMains I’ve been here since 2004 ish
I Think? Ds was still in nursery when I first posted. He’s 18 soon!

Under various different registrations over the years though due to changing email address and forgetting passwords when I’ve logged out for a while and having to start all over again mainly!

Ernieshere · 14/06/2020 09:55

God, I remember one poster fled from DV, and was picked up by a MN, to help her escape the 'D'H.

She got absolutely slated for going to the rescue of a stranger on MN.

I hope they are both o.k.

Ragwort · 14/06/2020 09:57

Remember when people had personal profiles and you could look at their real details? I always remember Pagwatch's lovely home. Or is that function still available? Confused

Megatron · 14/06/2020 10:00

@Ragwort Yes! I posted a photo of our old dog on there and got a pm from someone pm'd me asking where I got my cushions. 😂

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 14/06/2020 10:01

i believe the one that rescued her has since sadly died, unrelated to the event
CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 14/06/2020 10:02

the scottish lady who needed help was Trinityrhino

YouKnowNothingOfTheCrunch · 14/06/2020 10:02

It probably shouldn’t, but it’s really irritating me seeing scottishmummy being capitalised Grin

Loved SGB and so many others mentioned. Nice to remember the golden days when Mumsnet was all fields and Cod hadn’t been outed and even the moldies hadn’t happened yet.

It’s just so big now that I rarely recognise people and every section is as aggressive as AIBU threads used to be. Whilst AIBU seems a licence to be shitty for no reason at all. Despite that I’ve never succeeded in completely quitting my MN addiction.

Anyway, back to my namechange, I never posted often enough to be “a name” Smile

Thanks for the thread Flowers

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 10:03

I think I've been here since about 2002. Lots of name changes though.

I still enjoy the 'company' even though dcs are adults and older teens now.

Not ready for gransnet yet though.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 10:07

How about BupCakesandCunting?**

Megatron · 14/06/2020 10:10

DS was 1 when I registered, he's a lanky 6ft sixteen year old now. MN has changed a lot over the years, I miss the directness of a few years ago. There are still some great posters on here of course but there seem to be so many who are looking to be offended by the slightest thing. Sometimes go from 0 to 100 at the drop of a hat.

I love how important matters are still discussed (BLM for example), but I miss a surprising amount of the posters names I've seen on this thread.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 10:14

There used to be good punning and funny threads. Do we still name change for Easter, Christmas and so on?

VaTeLaverLesMains · 14/06/2020 10:14

I feel like starting a pisstake thread sometime soon.
