I use Georgia size 10 at the moment for work. I fancy a change. What do you use?

Calibri

Allmyeye · 13/06/2020 16:52

Comic Sans. Can’t believe it hasn’t had a mention.

JoysOfString · 13/06/2020 16:57

Comic sans is famously deplored by designers - to the extent that it’s become a cliche to deplore it :o

If anyone loves helvetica, the documentary film Helvetica is brilliant.

longtimecomin · 13/06/2020 17:02

Comic sans, very easy on the eye

DominaShantotto · 13/06/2020 17:29

Depends what I'm doing - if it's something I'm typing for me to re-read I tend to use Lexie Readable (I'm dyslexic but hate the look of the "usual" dyslexia friendly fonts like Open Dyslexic).

BIWI · 13/06/2020 17:37

Comic Sans is awful!

If anyone sends me anything using that font I find it very hard to take them seriously.

chorusline79 · 13/06/2020 18:12

Joysofstring it's a brilliant film isn't it, I went to see it at the cinema!

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 13/06/2020 19:01

Lucida all the way ! I do judge people who use Ccmic Sans.

DidoLamenting · 13/06/2020 19:18

Centre justified is OK for labels or notices, but edge-to-edge justified is horrible and much less readable than left-justified

I find left only justified text really horrible and far less readable, particularly if it's a long document. If someone emails me an unjustified document I will change it to justified for my own use.

But then I discovered that Eric Gill, who created it, sexually abused his daughters and couldn't bring myself to use it

Not just his daughters- he was into bestiality as well.

Hippofrog · 13/06/2020 19:20

Calibri

Kpo58 · 13/06/2020 19:21

Calibri

Occasionally I use Wingdings2 for the tick and cross symbols.

Sarahplane · 13/06/2020 19:21

Ariel

OhhhPeee · 13/06/2020 19:36

Avenir all day long. It just feels so “clean” to me.

MrsJBaptiste · 13/06/2020 20:38

Calibri 11

And I can't believe this thread is now at 115 posts! 😂

MrsJackRackham · 14/06/2020 10:58

Gosh, had a manic day yesterday and came back on expecting maybe 10 replies Grin Thank you everyone for your replies, gives me loads to look at. I'll be looking at the book and movie recommendations as well.
Uppercase and lowercase description is because printers kept their block letters in a case where the capital letters were in the top half or upper part of the case.

garamond by choice - love a bit of serif action
work dictate Arial 11pt for everything.

FinallyHere · 14/06/2020 11:17

Really, really love our corporate font, showing it would be a bit of a give away. I use it for everything now, even home emails.

But then again, my previous favourite was Comic Sans which I now gather is not so admired.

CoronaIsComing · 14/06/2020 11:26

Calibri

Moonflower12 · 14/06/2020 11:27

@Holeywalls
I work in Early Years and it's for consistency when teaching phonics etc.
@PrawnWithAKind
Thank you 😊
I'll have a good look at that.

Oh god, I temped somewhere where Garamond was the corporate font. I hated it as (dyslexic) I just cannot read it. I wrote everything in Calibri and changed it if someone made me.

Everyone says arial is a dyslexia friendly font, but the truth is we are all different, and whilst it’s OK, im no longer a fan. It’s too round. Much prefer Callisto or Helvetica. (And despite the hate, i do like comic sans, in context. It is astonishingly readable)

redeyetonowheregood · 14/06/2020 21:44

Calibri LIGHT. I prefer it to calibri.

Voice0fReason · 14/06/2020 22:43

For anyone using TNR (or any other serif font), stop it!!
It's inaccessible for a lot of people, you will be making life harder for someone else. There is no good reason to use it for anything that anyone else will read.

BIWI · 15/06/2020 08:15

It's a horrible font anyway!

Mornington22 · 15/06/2020 09:35

Arial size 12.

QuestionableMouse · 15/06/2020 10:09

@Voice0fReason many places require it. My uni requires a serif font for essays. A publisher I sent work to recently asks for it (it's literally the first thing the submission guide says)

I hate it personally but it's a very common and default font.
