I use Georgia size 10 at the moment for work. I fancy a change. What do you use?

TNR is awful. It looks so cramped and old fashioned and yet not vintage in a good/stylish way, just fusty.

Racheyg · 13/06/2020 10:55

@JoysOfString my husband loves fonts etc.

If your into art work and typography check out sed lester and Ben Ennis

JoysOfString · 13/06/2020 10:56

prawn that is gorgeous!

JoysOfString · 13/06/2020 10:57

Thanks rachey I will :)

21NewNames · 13/06/2020 10:57

I use Georgia too, I really like it. Looks classy somehow.

ExpletiveDelighted · 13/06/2020 10:58

I have two jobs, one workplace uses TNR by default (but no rule that says you have to) and I hate it, so old-fashioned and small.

The other uses Arial by default (again no rule) and I much prefer it or Calibri.

7Worfs · 13/06/2020 10:58

Used Verdana for years, but now Tahoma. Size 8 for big Excel spreadsheets.

I like Georgia too, but it’s not that easy to read for big documents.

Outlook set to Calibri as standard so I leave it.

StoorieHoose · 13/06/2020 11:01

Ariel for uni, Century Gothic for work - it's my favourite font and totally against the style guide but who cares

Racheyg · 13/06/2020 11:03

@JoysOfString silly auto correct. It's Seb lester

Lavenderpurple · 13/06/2020 11:05

I don’t have to use a font day to day but my all time favourite font from when I was at school and I still love it is curlz mt!
Aren’t I sad to have an all time favourite font! Blush

CatRamsey · 13/06/2020 11:06

I've found my people!

Usually Verdana, I do switch sometimes to Arial or even the standard Calibri but I always end up back with Verdana.

I do like a switch up every now and then!

flatpack1 · 13/06/2020 11:10

Garamond 12. My first ever boss insisted on it and I haven't ever changed.

OrlandoInTheWilderness · 13/06/2020 11:11

TNR for essays, bookman old style for everything else.

Drogonssmile · 13/06/2020 11:17

Calibri is my preferred font and use that in emails and personal documents but for letters at work I have to use Ariel 11pt or 12pt. Prefer 11pt but get that's too small for some.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 13/06/2020 12:38

We have to use Arial or Calibri at work, although I don't think anyone would be too bothered if I used a similar one. I was taught that Segoe UI is dyslexia-friendly so if I'm making training materials I use that. It's nice and clean as well.

TressiliansStone · 13/06/2020 12:57

Palatino. Though I'm considering a change, so this thread is timely.

WhenDoISleep · 13/06/2020 13:00

My personal choice is Verdana (and occasionally Ariel), Tahoma in Excel as I prefer the shape of the numbers and I stick with the default Calibri in Outlook.

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 13/06/2020 13:03

We are also told that letters and documents should not be justified but a small group of us have rebelled over that. I think unjustified text looks awful

If you mean centre justified, it’s because it creates a river of text that is very hard to read if you are dyslexic.

QuestionableMouse · 13/06/2020 13:04

fonts.google.com/specimen/Quattrocento?selection.family=Quattrocento#glyphs

It looks really crisp and clean which I like.

TressiliansStone · 13/06/2020 13:06

Ooh, yes, Quattrocento looks très elegant! Might adopt that!

LadyGAgain · 13/06/2020 13:07

TNR is awful and not that easy to read.

Arial or Calibri (body).

Awyeah · 13/06/2020 13:19

Helvetica or Futura.

QuestionableMouse · 13/06/2020 13:22

Also Candera when I'm writing fiction. It's easy on your eyes when you're staring at a screen for hours on end!

YeOldeTrout · 13/06/2020 13:22

I heard someone on radio explaining that whatever font you most use is the one you end up liking best, and can read most easily, so then all the others look wrong. I have a colleague who uses Arial a lot but it looks wrong to me.

Last year I had a job where Arial dominated, but after a while I started changing fonts in the internal reports & nobody moaned so then we had a flood of documents changing, phew. Calibri is what I mostly read so is easiest for me.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 13/06/2020 13:26

Candara is my favourite
