Did someone post on the previous thread that pubs opening on 22nd was fake news? Or am I imagining it?

Willitneverend · 09/06/2020 23:29

@mascotte I think all councils in Scotland are having their traditional in service days. DS class video meeting next week has been cancelled so the teachers can do blended learning too.

Has anyone else seen this posted online? Seems legit Hmm Maybe the Scottish Government's Big Computer has been working overtime.

My toddler disapproved of Professor Leitch imposing himself in the middle of Peppa Pig and skipped an advert by herself for the first time.

Thank you @SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito

Everyone I know outside of this thread seems to be inhabiting some kind of parallel universe where lockdown is an ‘opportunity’ or it’s a chance to
complain about the government not doing enough. No it’s not, it’s a relentless and lonely grind.

fartingsparkles · 09/06/2020 23:32

@Domina that's a bloody brilliant mark! Very well done!

I am so pleased to hear that zoos etc are allowed to reopen. It was totally illogical that they couldn't.

The Toddler decided to become a hairdresser today! 😕🥴 2 minutes I was out of the room, trying to sort the Eldest out! Its only hair, it will grow back, not too noticeable really either. Still had me in tears - frustration, low mood and high emotions. Only have myself to blame. Shouldn't have left scissors where she could get (in a heavy lidded box, where she didn't know they were). Guess she's seen me hack mine and decided to diy. The scissors are now elsewhere

PickAChew · 09/06/2020 23:47

How is the R rate in the southwest higher than anywhere else? I thought it was low, there.

Dowser · 09/06/2020 23:50

Agent cooper
Not an area I’m too familiar with , but if the moon governs the tides, which are water, and are bodies are about 70 per cent water it’s quite conceivable that there’s some sort of disturbance in our system thanks to the moons gravitational pull.

I’d love to delve more into this, but sometimes I get a bit restless at night with a full moon or a new moon .
I don’t seem to be in any particular pattern. Ay e someone a bit more sensitive than I am can explain about the effects more.

I did however feel a big shift in energy at the beginning of May around the full moon and I suddenly started to feel quite a bit better mentally.
Of course a lot of that might be to do with restrictions being slightly lessened, I don’t know.

I don’t really have a lot of time to study that. I’m too busy trying to keep as healthy as possible.
I was fighting the toothache from hell round about then which was a ten on my pain scale and I’ve now got it down to about 0.25 which considering it was waking me in the night I’m very happy with.
I shall keep working on it in the hope I don’t have to lose it when the dentist reopens

Dowser · 09/06/2020 23:57

No problem, nothing is wrong
I know I do go on a bit as I’ve spent a lifetime trying to keep well
It’s why I never panicked about getting covid, I’ve too many other things going on .
In fact I reckon I have more chance of finding Shergar than getting it..and that’s quite a statement..but if you could see my medicine chest With all my herbs, powders, potions, supplements, minerals, vitamins etc..you’d think you’d wandered into holland and Barrett.

It’s never been more import to take charge of our health with the way the world is going.

When you can’t rely on seeing a doctor, A dentist and whatever else we need, then we have to take charge of ourselves.
I do cheat a little. I do see a medical Dowser over Skype every 4-6 weeks but in between appointments I can put myself right if the need arises.

Checking in.

Wine has been consumed with DM and best friend in non socially distanced way,

I live I hope that tomorrow I will wake up and the government will admit it's all big one fuck up and they got it wrong and we can go back to normal.

I wish I lived somewhere like Norway where they will admit mistakes.

We'll be performing pointless lockdown an social distancing in perpetuity to avoid facing the reality of had been done to us.

RubberDinghyRapids · 10/06/2020 04:54

Checking in. GoldenOmber described my thoughts exactly, so Thankyou for putting it into words for me.
After some hormone fuelled ranting last week (my poor colleagues Blush) I'm now competitively dementoring back at anything needlessly doom laden at work, especially when it has no basis in any form of evidence. It's been a great relief for me.
My non C related good news is that I have now day weaned DD for three days straight and I think she only woke at 4am for a feed. This is monumental in terms of me regaining some sleep, so naturally now I can't get back to it Hmm

heroku · 10/06/2020 06:33

Just catching up! The Guardian article that PP shared is promising but I am so fed up with reading this phrase: "The lockdown was necessary but ..."

Firstly - a "lockdown" is not a thing. Lockdown is what happens in prison when a fight kicks off, it's never been used to refer to a public health policy before. The more we normalise the idea of population "lockdowns" (an entirely abnormal and frightening concept), the more we'll see it used against us.

Secondly - we have no idea if the "lockdown was necessary". Necessary for what? For whom? Certainly not for the children who have committed suicide since March. We have no data on what would have happened without a "lockdown" apart from Ferguson's shitty model.

The absolute inability of Guardian journalists to stray from "accepted wisdom" is what puts me off that paper. Where is the critical thinking?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2020 06:58

Morning all, just checking in!
Well done @DominaShantotto that's amazing.

Can I just say I'm still so relieved it's not just me who suspects that everyone gets the "say nothing, agree nothing" memo of lockdown measures, so weeks of frustration and question dodging then Boris comes back and boom! All the answers, so I suspect any announcements to more embedded measures are only be delivered by Bojo. So I'm happier in a way hes committed to 1 a week......

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2020 06:59

And I'm so so happy zoos can open.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2020 07:17

So when you get the above Boris theory combined with the change in frequency of reviews
"Health Secretary Matt Hancock, in a written ministerial statement, said themaximumreview period will change from 21 days to 28 days.
“This will allow decisions to align more closely with the period of time necessary to assess the impact of previous changes on key data feeds, including the R (infection) rate.

“The Government will also keep all the measures under continual review and will account to Parliament on an ongoing basis.

The reviews arecontinual and ongoing."

And Bojo committing to one review a week....I'm actually expecting to see more of the kind of short-notice lifting that we have been seeing, such as the shielded advice last weekend, the masks announcement, the zoos today that sort of thing.

Allnamesaregone · 10/06/2020 07:29

Hi 👋 I missed a couple o f threads but I’m back . I have waves of being resigned to the situation combined with anger and frustration- the death rate in Scotland is so low but still our children’s education and mental health is not deemed vital enough to let them back to school. The unions are partly responsible as well as the Scottish government. I’m angry that the SQA have opted not to mark all the project work, the deadline of which was before lockdown. It would normally be worth 30% and act as good evidence for grades.
And there’s nothing as a parent I can do.

Allnamesaregone · 10/06/2020 07:31

On the upside I’ve cut my hair and it looks Ok .

Lickyicelollies · 10/06/2020 07:33

Hello fellow floaters.

@allnamesaregone I'm also in Scotland and similarly pissed off with the government regarding education. I really want to kick up a stink and make them reconsider opening schools fully and properly in August but don't know how to go about it and how many parents would be on board.

rookiemere · 10/06/2020 07:35

Just to derail a little back to physio talk. I have to say that the postural pilates has been fantastic, and seems - fingers crossed- to be addressing the neck and shoulder issues. My lovely neighbour said it's all linked to the core, so I sook in my huge belly every time it starts getting sore, and along with the exercises it seems to be working.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2020 07:37

@Allnamesaregone
Welcome back!

"And there’s nothing as a parent I can do"

That's what I find the hardest thing here. Feeling so powerless. Like we dont have a voice.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 10/06/2020 07:39

Also, anyone else feeling more irritated by the day of the phrase "when it is safe to do so"?

When will it be safe to do so, what's an acceptable level of risk/infection/transmission?

rookiemere · 10/06/2020 07:39

Lickyicelollies, I would think a lot of parents in Scotland would be in favour of getting a proper education.

I wonder if it's worth waiting untik they officially decide that 1m is fine for social distancing and the level of new infections is down to single digits, as at that point anything other than full teaching is fairly indefensible.

Littlebelina · 10/06/2020 07:43

Forgot to say well done domina, that's a great mark.

I'm feeling pretty much the shame Magda, sounds like I'm still largely wfh for the foreseeable apart from odd days which makes me feel like a complete fraud for sending ds in as we did it partly as we thought I'd be going back in. Starting to feel more and more detached from it as had a lot of time off anyway in the last few years. It is a lot easy with ds at school and not going to pull him back out but doesn't stop the guilt and feeling like I'm being judged. I'm really low.

I'm starting emailing the MP and other potential politicians, and the kids are going to do so at the weekend as well because the lack of clarity and hope for September is getting stupid now.

Lickyicelollies · 10/06/2020 07:46

I meant FLOUTERS! Grin although maybe some of us are feeling like floaters...

Librarybooksandacoconut · 10/06/2020 07:48

@Lickyicelollies I’m a parent and teacher in Scotland and I think we should be going back full time in August if deaths and infections stay at current rates. I’m going to start with writing to my MSP and John Swinney today after the nrs figures are released (which I suspect will show that death rates are now at normal levels). I know it won’t make much difference on an individual level, but the more who do it, the bigger the pressure.
