How much child maintenence do you get?

Hope this doesn't come accross as being nosey (absolutely not intended). NC ex gives me £140 p/m for 3yo DD.

Interested in what others get to see whether I'm being unreasonable in challenging this

By his wage, 1 child 1-2 days/nights a week it should be £240pcm but he can't afford it so it's £100pcm, he doesn't pay for anything extra like school uniforms etc

BabyStone · 08/06/2020 18:25

Oh and he only started paying it in April when I got CMS involved, DS is 7, we've been split for over 2 years

slipperywhensparticus · 09/06/2020 10:10

The special circumstances are he wont work! When he did he was cash in hand now that has finished he is doing nothing claims he is at college which he does everytime he is unemployed claims depression and he gets sent to college to boost his self esteem he does cash in hand work (which I can't prove) lives with his girlfriend but claims to be living with his mother probably now going to claim he is his uncles carer even though he isnt caring for him

The system is set up for people like him

tootyfruitypickle · 09/06/2020 21:53

£26 pm and he puts it in dd’s account annoyingly. I’ve started making her transfer it to savings as her clothes account

dalrympy · 09/06/2020 22:05

£450 for one 13yo. Don't know what he earns.

It's reasonable and I think fair. I pay for everything out of that though

LightenUpSummer · 09/06/2020 22:32

£100/month for 2 dc.

I daren't go through CMS as he'd get pissed off and very likely not look after them as often. I rely on him having them two nights a week for childcare so I can work.

I wish all girls were told about the reality of this. I want to say to them "only have a baby if you're prepared to do/pay 100% for it".

It's all very well having the CMS in theory but just look at this thread for the reality...

LightenUpSummer · 09/06/2020 22:34

But more importantly I haven't gone through CMS as his pissed off with me-ness would mean they'd see less of their Dad

MockneyReject · 11/06/2020 10:29

Spoke too soon. He's obviously seen that the CMS have given him permission to stop paying. Angry
And, no, he won't have to back pay, because he is on benefits. £25 a month, but he's still seized the opportunity to stop paying it.

I didnt get mine either...though he brought a new phone

MockneyReject · 11/06/2020 11:52

It riles me that the CMS are effectively telling them that they can stop paying and there will be no consequences.
In other news, a mother of 3 was given a custodial sentence, last week, for not informing Tax Credits of a change in circumstances. The amount she overclaimed is considerably less than my ex owes me in maintenance. While men, who likely don't bother with their offspring anyway, can sit back laughing, while the state tops up the resident parents income, a mother and her children are traumatised and punished.
The double standard is a national disgrace.

EmbarrassedUser · 11/06/2020 13:31

Fuck all 🤦‍♀️ Ex owes thousands but thinks that it’s ok not to pay. Think I’m supposed to get something like £32 a week for one teenage boy. Wow, that (imaginary) amount would go far 😡

Posypetal · 11/06/2020 13:32

1000 a month but that’s for 5!

Scruffyoak · 11/06/2020 13:47

My ex won't even pay late as he knows they will take so long to enforce it. When we went to court they kept mentioning cms was not relevant....

Thatbitchcarolebaskin · 11/06/2020 15:34

It’s an absolute disgrace that non resident parents are allowed to get away with this on such a large scale.

CMS staff have been moved over to U/C. So, all any paying parent needs to do is phone them up and say they're not paying. The don't need to provide any evidence that they've lost their job or aren't being paid. There's no obligation to inform the parent who is expecting the payment. It will simply not arrive. That parent may not contact the CMS, missed/stopped payments will not be looked into. The only calls they are accepting are from paying parents informing them, verbally, that their circumstances have changed and payments will stop.

Endless11 · 12/06/2020 08:56

£60 a week for three dc.

NemosPoorlyFinn · 12/06/2020 09:16

£369 a month for one DS
It's only this high because a £100 of it is back pay being slowly paid off
He actually has £450 taken out of his wages every month but cms take a chunk of it ( I'm also charged £11 for the collect and pay option) it's the only way he would pay because he wasn't going to give me the money himself
They had to physically take it from him via his work
That's with one over night a week

AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie · 12/06/2020 19:37

@mockneyreject
This boils my piss! I've posted a lot about it. They are switching staff to support one group of people at the expense of others and it disproportionally affects women. We are being thrown under a bus. My ex will likely be made redundant in a few weeks so he will be on benefits so even with enforcement he will be paying a pittance yet could have paid the correct amount until that time. I will not drop this from a moral perspective. He will pay every penny eventually (I have 10-11 years to push it, I can be patient)

AllsortsofAwkward · 12/06/2020 19:39

I get £140 for ds we go half on school dinners uniform and activities.

redsky21 · 12/06/2020 19:42

£677 a month for one child who has no contact with his dad. He does earn £100,000 a year though.

chocolatespiders · 12/06/2020 19:44

26.00 a month.
Does anyone know if they earn more that year than was expected and used for calculation do you get a back pay for that year?

Secretsout · 12/06/2020 20:15

£730 per month from someone who earns £200k per annum and no contact with the child.

Juliet2014 · 12/06/2020 21:06

@Secretsout
How many children?
My ex on £160k plus bonus of around £50k
I have two children and receive £2250
He has them 4-6 nights a month

Secretsout · 12/06/2020 21:22

juliet2014 it's for 1 child now.

It was 'negotiated' in 2016 with a view that he would provide p60 and we would review each year. The P60 never materialised and he was extremely abusive so I'm no contact with him.

The court order to review it annually isn't worth the paper it's written on. My solicitor was crap.

The amount at the time was based on the top CM limits for child spending 1-2 nights with him and his max earnings of £150k (he was earning £50k over that even them.

I massively short changed the kids and I'll never forgive myself for it. They have suffered.
