How much child maintenence do you get?

Hope this doesn't come accross as being nosey (absolutely not intended). NC ex gives me £140 p/m for 3yo DD.

Interested in what others get to see whether I'm being unreasonable in challenging this

OP posts:

The princely sum of £148 a month for two
He pays nothing for the third
Doesn’t even cover the food bill Apparently their clothes and shoes school trips and other essentials are ‘not his problem’
He works Mostly cash in hand ( has done all through Lockdown ) so he pays both Me and the Taxman less

Charming

Jazzled · 07/06/2020 17:10

8 years with nothing and the CMS eventually caught up with him. He's paying due thousands in arrears.

I think the official number is around £130 a month but I receive around £300 a month average just now for arrears also. It can go up if he does overtime etc

It’s based on what the NRP earns and how often they have the children overnight so you can only really challenge what he pays in child support if you think he’s lied to CMS.

My ex pays the minimum asked of him, based on his salary and his overnight contact. He won’t be getting any credit from me for it as it’s literally the least he can do.

Yep, pp is right you should be getting 300 pm given his salary and no contact. My ex declared 28-29k last year, no contact and CMS payments are 280. Expecting it to go back down next year as he usually only declares around half that, yes less than minimum wage and goes around buying houses cash. Unfortunately the CMS have no interest in closing self employed loopholes and HMRC aren't interested in tax evasion either. His actual earnings are more like 40-45k.

Juliet2014 · 07/06/2020 17:22

@corlan

** £50 a month for one child. Most the useless bastard has ever paid.
I report him every year for tax evasion but HMRC don't seem that interested.**
It's hard not to think that the system is set up to allow men to avoid supporting their children financially.

He will be getting his come uppance now and won’t be entitled to a fraction of what he would have been if reported correctly!

Jimdandy · 07/06/2020 17:40

@hfrdgftcsdg I know what you’re saying, for a poxy £8 a week it barely seems worth the bother but it’s still £8 for my stepdaughter that she’s entitled too.

His ex isn’t self employed or anything just lazy and keeps having more and more children without paying or having any interest in the ones she already has.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/06/2020 17:56

£500pm for one DC, he earns £50k a year. Has DS overnight approximately 4 times a month.

CoconutBreath · 07/06/2020 17:59

£320 per month for one child who stays 4 nights out of 14 with him.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/06/2020 18:02

Don't be put off challenging it because other people get less - I get told that I'm "lucky" all the time because of what my ex pays but I don't think I should be grateful that he's being a decent parent, I'm sure no one tells him he should be grateful to me for doing most of the day to day parenting.

Mintjulia · 07/06/2020 18:04

About £150 a month for a 12yo.

That covers half of: clothes & shoes, food, a weekly swimming lesson, a weekly martial arts session, contribution to the leccy bill. Half of occasional reading book and any school trip costs.
I also get half of holiday care costs in the summer and two half terms. About £2,100 a year in total.

I have ds 330 nights a year, my ex’s choice, and I do all school meetings, Drs, dentists, organising etc.

milkysmum · 07/06/2020 18:10

Nothing, not a penny in 2 years since we separated.
Two children. He has a job earning around £500 per week as a self employed builder but doesn't put this through the books so there is no point me going through child maintenance service as it will come back that he earns nothing. We also still have a joint mortgage that he pays nothing towards, and he is dragging his feet with the divorce, not signing anything which in turn is costing me more money. The whole thing is a joke it really is.

MockneyReject · 07/06/2020 18:13

£20 p/w, as of a year ago. Up until then, nothing. Zilch. Since he left us in 2004.
The 'child' is now 26...

AteAllTheAfterEights · 07/06/2020 18:18

£30 a week

SplunkPostGres · 07/06/2020 18:19

Around £900 a month for a 6 year old. He has another child from a previous marriage so it’s CMS minimum split between the both of them. It will increase soon as he’ll be 18 and no longer split.

Ex earns around 150k a year and funnels a lot towards his pension to decrease maintenance liability.

£400 a month for one child and has one overnight a week.

So sad to see these arsehole fathers on this thread.

chubbyhotchoc · 07/06/2020 19:19

£156 per month for one dc. Used to be £200 but he decided he was over paying despite having no other dc or any other real expenses

chubbyhotchoc · 07/06/2020 19:20

That's with no contact

beelola · 07/06/2020 20:16

Does anybody know if CMS would be any help in dealing with my ex that has been completely cash in hand for a while, lost all of his work due to coronavirus so has gone on universal credit? You'd think it'd raise questions why he suddenly needed UC despite having no declared income for years! By my calculations, he should contribute about £400 a month instead of £30...

babycornplease · 07/06/2020 20:25

£27 ish a month. Through the collect and pay thingy of cms... apparently the poor thing is on benefits... this of course is total bullshit, I've got a court document stating he is working. Apparently that's not good enough proof... Hmm

Oldbutstillgotit · 07/06/2020 20:36

DD ‘s ex works cash in hand so pays nothing for DGS nor does he buy him anything. I give her £100 per month to help which I don’t grudge but I think it is outrageous there are so many dead beat Dads .

PorpentiaScamander · 07/06/2020 20:37

£0 haven't had a penny for about 7 years now. Fucker.

midnightstar66 · 07/06/2020 20:40

£30 pw for 2 dc, well nothing now as he's self employed and been declaring nil income to avoid CMS for years so lockdown hasn't been kind but before that that's the amount he generously decided he could spare

moolady1977 · 07/06/2020 20:53

My oh pays £130 a month and we have his dd 9 days out of 14 we also buy her clothes and take her on holidays . On the other hand I give my ex nothing but I give my ds pocket money every week buy him clothes when he wants something and take him on holiday he also comes for tea may 4 days a week but doesn't want to stay over we came to that arrangement because I started working part time instead of full time and if I gave home maintenance the rest would have to stop due to finances . It works for us

hotstepper4 · 07/06/2020 20:55

Dh pays just under £400pm for 2 dc we have 4/5 overnights a month . He also pays half school uniform
