Washing up sponges. I'm very environmentally aware in a lot of ways but by god do I go through a lot of washing up sponges. I can't bear the thought of all the food particles inside them once used a couple of times. Envy

Also, bean juice. It makes me feel ill. If I have baked beans (rarely) I have to empty them into a sieve & drain all the bean juice away first before cooking.

Kitchen bins. I won't have one. Awful, smelly, festering articles. Envy

Inappropriate peas.
You know when you get peas in meals where there's no business peas being in? Certain curries and cottage pies are guilty of this. It's a cheap filler but I hate it. Bloody peas.

pollyskettles · 07/06/2020 10:14

If you've got a plastic bowl in the sink surely you clean it? I wash up and then at the end I wash the bowl out, clean the bottom with cleaning spray and wash the sink. The bowl then goes ypside down on the drainer to dry out ready for next time.

The holes thing bothers me too, I once saw a pasta dish (similar to Rigatoni Pie ), where all the little tubes are stood upright in a dish like soldiers and the sauce poured over in between them. Honestly it makes me feel sick just recounting the vision of it.

Escalators - the metal teeth, things getting trapped, the unforgiving edges if you were to fall.

Lifts - the thought of traveling up and down a dark shaft, but I don’t much like all glass lifts either.

Multi-storey car parks - hate these i always worry about accidentally driving over the edge.

Balconies that are glass - I hate taking my kids to the likes of the trafford centre which has them all over the place. I will not let my kids go anywhere near the balcony, the glass just doesn’t seem barrier enough.

Stairs - especially really tall wide ones, it always makes me super nervous if I see someone walking down the middle without the help/safety of the handrail.

I’ve just read that back and just realised all mine are related to heights, I obviously have a bit of a problem Confused

dementedma · 07/06/2020 10:29

Crumpets. All the little holes.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/06/2020 11:00

"The bowl then goes ypside down on the drainer to dry out ready for next time."

I've never dried a washing up bowl.
I wipe it down, but not with spray. Never thought it had to dry!

Gwenhwyfar · 07/06/2020 11:01

"Those plastic washing up basins that you put in your sink. Not only are they the most pointless thing on earth "

Might be pointless if you have a double sink, but if you have a single one, you can't pour old fluids down the sink when doing the washing up unless you've got a bowl. I do clean underneath it after washing up.

pollyskettles · 07/06/2020 11:18

I have a large sink and a small half sink which old fluids go down. I don't think the bowl needs drying but if it goes on the drainer (which is empty anyway as DS dries up as I wash) then it and the sink dry out. It's just habit, I wouldn't dry it with a tea towel.
I don't think they are pointless because if you have a belfast sink they stop things getting chipped or broken.

Megatron · 07/06/2020 11:23

The blue motorway sign

Same! They look like robots.

Megatron · 07/06/2020 11:25

Oh I need a bowl in my sink. Belfast sink so everything breaks in it. Washing up gets done in the sink - washing up bowl gets washed all over afterwards, dried and put under the sink.

Zaphodsotherhead · 07/06/2020 11:42

Many of mine are mentioned here - lupins, high motorway bridges (particularly hate the Humber bridge), and clouds. Mostly all right with clouds but every now and then I find myself looking up and thinking how weird they are, especially when they mass together.

I also cut myself repeatedly and very badly on a potato peeler, so hate those swivel headed bastards.

TwistyHair · 07/06/2020 12:43

@RedRec I’ll have to think about that next time I smell them. I normally try to get away from the smell as fast as possible because it makes me feel so uneasy

Lemonmaid · 07/06/2020 12:58

Going over the Thelwall Viaduct, I refuse to drive it and am just as scared as a passenger. In fact any high bridges such as the QE2 Bridge at the Dartford Crossing and the Severn Bridge 😱

anxietrist · 07/06/2020 13:01

*Long nails.

Don't find fake ones too bad but real ones knock me sick* 🙈

YES!!!

keepingbees · 07/06/2020 13:11

Wind turbines. Not too bad at a distance but up close where you see their size and movement seems to be going at an unnaturally slow eerie speed.
Some windmills, especially if they have broken sails.
Military aircraft, especially the big carrier planes. They look so sinister and again seem to go at a oddly slow speed.

SnugglySnerd · 07/06/2020 13:22

Baked beans. I can't be in the room while someone is eating them. Even worse is just one bean left on a plate.
Crumbs. Especially in the butter/jam/Marmite etc. My family have had it drilled into them to use one knife or spoon to get it out of the jar and another one to spread with.
Empty swimming pools are really creepy.

GreyGardens88 · 07/06/2020 13:23

Net curtains always look dank and depressing to me

AdelaideK · 07/06/2020 13:31

Copper money makes me feel sick.
Buttons.

My son was funny about the safety symbol on labels. I'm amazed another people feel the same.

Katyy · 07/06/2020 13:36

The seeds inside the yellow melons.Theres just too many of them !

NervousInYorkshire · 07/06/2020 13:45

@Katyy

The seeds inside the yellow melons.Theres just too many of them !
Oh god - they freak me out so much!
YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/06/2020 13:49

Any wooden structure over water with planks missing.

Megatron · 07/06/2020 14:13

Just been for a walk with DD and came across a new public footpath. At the end of it was a brick tunnel about 20 feet long but only about 5 ft high so we had to hunch down to walk through it (not to bad for me but DD is much taller). Totally freaked me out. I could see the footpath continue on the other side but I felt like I was walking into a trap! Should have taken a pic to show you.

DarklisAndIsa · 07/06/2020 14:15

@pollyskettles

If you don't like bridges over water then never go over the Pontcysyllte aquaduct, great views but it's terrifying.
pollyskettles - we must be neighbours!

I walked over it when I was about 8 months pregnant. Never again!

INeedNewShoes · 07/06/2020 14:17

It actually grosses me out when there isn't a washing up bowl in the kitchen sink!
