I cant stand to see the Volvo logo at the front of cars, the one with the circle and the line running through it.Its not a phobia I just dont like the ways it makes me feel if I see it.Am I weird ? Grin Does anyone else get this?

Lilygolightly, I agree with all of yours, all of my fears are related to heights.

I also hate being outside of a high rise building and looking up at it, I hate large things looming over me.

Merigoround · 07/06/2020 14:25

Room doors that are smaller than usual. They dont even have to be tiny - just smaller than you would expect. Of course the smaller the door the worse I feel.Until it gets to the point that it would be impossible for a human to use it as a doorway. Yes - I have thought about this way too much.

Probably connected but also low ceilings as in caves or man made tunnels /access points.

TommyShelby · 07/06/2020 14:27

Not really an item but if I see anyone with stitches and can see either the stitches themselves or the dressing I feel like I’m going to faint. The thought even makes my heart race

I hate being able to see through my own feet, so I avoid those metal grid style staircases at all costs

I also can’t stand seeing anyone eat mayonnaise of coleslaw. Even writing that down has made me retch!

PuppyMonkey · 07/06/2020 14:27

Tomatoes and their evil seeds. Horrible things.

TommyShelby · 07/06/2020 14:28

Ooh also, when music with a heavy base is too loud and you can feel it thump in your chest? I hate that. Makes me panic!

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 07/06/2020 14:48

i am not good with down escalators, I always want to step out....because OBVIOUSLY it would just be a step and I'd be at the bottom not plummeting to my slicey death soon enough

I don't like the feel of brushed metal...I think that might be a genetic thing, my ma won't touch chalk, my dad (and ds1) hate dry cotton wool as it screams and squeaks and dd cannot bear velvet

Pippy things...tomatoes, kiwi, caviar ...that popping gritty feel

Things in my hair...I do put up my hair when it's long and use curling tongs/brushes, but if there is a single hint of a stuck comb or a really knotty bit with a comb I have to really get a grip on myself not to get hysterical and overwrought.

Whatisthisfuckery · 07/06/2020 15:09

Balloons. I’ve always been terrified of them. Everything about them makes my skin crawl.

The feel of dog or cat food in those little pouches. Eww slimy, and the lumps move around.

Pealing the plastic off those horrible gunky cheese slices, and the cheese slices themselves.

The feeling of those big plastic shopping bags when they get all worn out and the layers start to come apart.

Those horrible plastic hair brushes with the hard plastic bristles. We had them when I was a kid and they were always gunned up with hair. Eww!

Megatron · 07/06/2020 15:24

@LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow in all her 76 years my mum was never, ever able to go down an escalator. Up yes, but never down. 😂

Megatron · 07/06/2020 15:30

I'm terrible with heights. I have an almost overwhelming urge to topple forward if I'm up high and it makes me catch my breath with fear. I was on an outward bound week with the school I work in a few years ago and we had to cross a gorge on a rope bridge. The kids were all 10/11 and were awesome. The instructor went first and I knew I needed to go last or I'd scare the shit out of them. The children all went across like mountain goats and I got halfway across and couldn't move a muscle, it was hell on earth. I've no recollection of getting the rest of the way across other than these wonderful children saying 'come on Miss just look at us, you're fine, we'll help you' and clapping when I got to the other side. 😂

pollyskettles · 07/06/2020 16:29

@DarklisAndIsa The only thing worse about going across it was going back again. Never again for me too, and certainly never on a narrow boat.

EasyLifer · 07/06/2020 16:38

Megatron, that sounds horrific, I feel sick just thinking about a rope bridge over a gorge!

Pepperwand · 07/06/2020 19:00

Submarines too and actually anything large underwater I find really disturbing and can't look. Also includes whales and the underside of icebergs.

Completely agree about the built-in cupboards around beds or anything hanging over your head at night so large mirrors, pictures..... I don't get how you could sleep at night. I refuse to get bunk beds for the DC for that reason.... I'd have visions of it collapsing somehow and squishing the child on the bottom bunk.

Pepperwand · 07/06/2020 19:03

And I absolutely hate the rear view of the old Peugeot 206...the bottom light looks like the car has a prolapse.

Every day items that make you feel uneasy
GuiltyBark · 07/06/2020 19:06

Secateurs and garden loppers. My brain just automatically thinks of how they could be used as instruments of torture. I'm fine with knives and clubs etc. It's the snippyness of them *shudder

NervousInYorkshire · 07/06/2020 19:08

Prawns.

Nonononononono.

Lemonmaid · 07/06/2020 20:25

Viaducts 😱

Bits of food left in the sink after washing up, especially in office kitchens 🤢

iklboo · 07/06/2020 20:32

Those roll out filing systems with the wheel handles to open & shut them. I think I'll be inside when someone closes them and I'll get squished.

Not a fan of car washes either. I'm in no way claustrophobic - quite the opposite - but they give me the heebie jeebies

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 07/06/2020 21:50

Scratchy material like tweed. I don't know how people can bear to wear it.

The thought of touching birds.

I like holes though.

JeffVaderneedsatray · 07/06/2020 22:34

Chickens.
And pigeons. Or indeed most birds - they look at you like they are plotting to take over the world.
The feel of unglazed pottery.
I can only drink tea out of bone china mugs - the thinner the better - otherwise my mouth feels all weird.
Getting clay or earth under my fingernails and then it drying before I can wash my hands.
Dishcloths
Soggy rubber gloves
Using big cutlery - we have a small set and a large set and I have to use the smaller ones because the big set feels all weird to eat with. Although I can butter bread etc with the big knives, I just can't bear to eat with them.

HeronLanyon · 07/06/2020 22:55

tubby me too. I had a painting over my bed until last year when I became worried it might fall during the night (during silent quiet bits of the night that is). I took it down and can’t have anything there now !

TweetUsOnFacebook · 07/06/2020 23:13

The silver robot/monster number 4 thing that appears on channel 4 between the programmes. Particularly when it runs up the hill and bellows.

TheChosenTwo · 07/06/2020 23:17

Oh my god Tweet, I hate that number 4 too! It’s the music mainly for me, it’s really jarring and makes me feel very twitchy and uneasy when I know it’s coming up Blush

avoandeggs · 08/06/2020 00:19

That specific kind of glossyish paper where you scratch it and it feels GROSS and makes that awful noise.

Allmyeye · 08/06/2020 00:50

Piercings except in one in each ear. Tongues, noses, eyebrows, nipples and so on. Just no.

Titsywoo · 08/06/2020 01:00

Other peoples hair when it's not attached to their head. Especially when its wet. Like in a shower at swimming pools. Makes me feel physically sick.
