But there it seemed it could be anyone Smile

Single men and women in the Netherlands are being advised to organise a seksbuddy (sex buddy) after criticism of rules dictating that home visitors maintain a 1.5-metre distance from their hosts during the coronavirus lockdown.

In a typically open-minded intervention, official guidance from the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) has been amended to suggest those without a permanent sexual partner come to mutually satisfactory agreements with like-minded individuals.

I don't feel like we live in a democracy at all. Maybe im naive but I didn't realise they could just change laws like that!

justasking111 · 04/06/2020 16:04

They are mooting opening hairdressers in England in a fortnight, meanwhile us welshies continue to look like trolls/gonks for the foreseeable future sigh...

Orangeblossom78 · 04/06/2020 16:05

They did something similar in Italy as well i remember, with bonds of 'affection' www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2020-05-01/easing-of-lockdown-begs-the-question-whos-family-in-italy

Therulerofmyhouse · 04/06/2020 16:11

@mightbealittlebitmad
You are definitely not insane! They are all going power trip mad. We should really be coming to the end of this with a relaxation of everything. Instead they appear to be ramping up on the pointless rules & now actual laws.

Point in case was Matt Wanksocks slipping in the change to the review period from 21 days to 28 days on Monday, thus giving them more time to think of ways to control us without any scrutiny.

ZoBo123 · 04/06/2020 16:11

First post, new to all this and I have found my people!

Nihiloxica · 04/06/2020 16:12

Welcome, ZoBo

Can anyone give me advice about how to navigate being made redundant / starting new job I'm tying myself in knots trying to work out what's best!

justasking111 · 04/06/2020 16:14

Oh that italy rule is a whole other can of worms

Allflightscancelled · 04/06/2020 16:18

Can you be more specific, GeneGenie? I read about your new job before but what is it you're worried about now? IT's a tough one right now. My DH is being made redundant (no new job, sadly) and he's been trying to get advice but no-one's answering

countrygirl99 · 04/06/2020 16:20

It seems to me that some of the rules are just there to keep dementor voters happy with a real expectation that they will be ignored by many.

I'm not the best person to advice but have they said you're being made redunat or allowed you to select volutary redundancy yet - ie are there time frames to anything yet?

I know with DH when he was made reduant becuase it was over 10% of the workforce there was additional producres to follow which extended the time frame so he just got past the 2 year mark which help us out as there was more money - as well as the go away nicely money they put on top.

Plus have you go start date yet?

Or is this a money/tax question?

enjoyingSun · 04/06/2020 16:22

Is this any help?

Allflightscancelled · 04/06/2020 16:23

Ooh I hope DH gets some go away nicely money. I bet he doesn't though, because his boss is a tightwad wanker.

It was a huge US owner company - they even insisted and paid for independent legal advice for them all.

It was illunimating as most of the you can't do this in future stuff and you agree to such and such in exit paperwork was completely unenforable in UK law apparently even if he signed. Legal advice was sign and take cash and not worry about the document ever again.

Oh yeah DD1 in the queue for school this morning... full blast... "WOW MUMMY THOSE BLACK BITS IN YOUR HAIR ARE HUUUUUUGE NOW!"

Little sod.

Bollss · 04/06/2020 16:35

Sorry yes I can be more specific Grin

So got offered new job. Have to do Dbs and what not. They've posted me docs to fill in but they havent arrived yet. Am certain DBS will be fine. They also want references.

Work are asking for voluntary redundancy. They've said they're evaluating all debts. Can't imagine it will be many people but they advise anyone who wants to do it to speak to them.

When I got offered the job on the phone she told me to hand my notice in when all paperwork was done and checked (I can physically take it to her so quicker than bloody post!)

So obv I want the money (not much but would be equivalent of a month's wage and every little helps!!) But I don't know how to ensure I get it and don't get fobbed off because they know I've already got a job iyswim?

I don't want to offer it now incase anything goes wrong and I end up jobless. Not that it's likely but...

Bollss · 04/06/2020 16:37

Oh and one reference is obv my current employer so they'll know!

Allflightscancelled · 04/06/2020 16:37

Yep DH has loads of "you can't contact A, B or C for x years after this agreement' stuff to contend with. But he knows that it's unenforceable so he'll just smile and nod and wave. Then once he's gone, the contract is terminated and he can (and will) do whatever he bloody well wants.

I just want it over now. It's so painful for him, he sweated blood for that company, really went the extra mile and he's experiencing it like a break up.

GeneGenie, I'm really, really pleased for you that you got the new job just at the right time. Hats off to you.

Allflightscancelled · 04/06/2020 16:43

Yes GeneGenie that one is tricky. I can see why you'd want the redundancy money, I would, too. What's your company like? Is it possible they'd be relieved that you want to take redundancy and that they could offer it relatively cheaply, and so pay up?Or are they tight arsed sods like DH's boss, who'd love to stiff you out of what's yours?

Bollss · 04/06/2020 16:44

Thank you @allflightscancelled pure bloody luck really!

It's a family business and I'm one of the few who's not related so I thought I best get looking!

heroku · 04/06/2020 16:44

@Allflightscancelled I know the feeling and it's horrible. I found out I was being made redundant when my boss called me in for a meeting and just handed me the new org chart. I only had 2 weeks notice and didn't get any redundancy pay as technically I was a contractor and not an employee (dodgy as hell). I've worked for myself ever since as I can't trust anyone now!

Bollss · 04/06/2020 16:45

See I'm not sure. It's not much money like I say so I'm sure they'd rather make me redundant than others, but then equally they'd rather pay me nowt and make me hand in my notice! I really don't know what to expect. They've always been a good employer up until this happened.

BarkandCheese · 04/06/2020 16:45

Good afternoon, I’ve had a good day of murdering. I spent the morning being slightly too cold in my mum’s garden drinking tea, my mum was happy to have me in the house in theory but worried about the neighbours realising we were inside. God that’s a depressing sentence to write. Then a marvellous murder spree in Aldi where social distancing was notably absent, especially among the staff. As others have pointed out, supermarket staff don’t seem to be dropping like flies, despite coming into contact with far more people than other workers, like say teachers, would in an average day.
