Hi everyone
Just for fun. I can't sleep and I always loves these types of threads.
I love seeing other people's engagement rings/wedding rings, and if there is a story behind the ring!
Here's mine... it's an antique diamond belonging to DH grandmother, he didn't like the original setting so redesigned it, and this is the end result! I love it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone else's!

Roarfeckingroar that's a beautiful ring! I also like the ones further up thread, an opal surrounded by diamonds and quite a squarish Art Deco style ring. All lovely!

anonymouse · 05/06/2020 20:50

Ah it said post successful but I can't see it coming up. Are you going to get the matching wedding band?

poppinpink · 05/06/2020 20:55

The first ring is my grans wedding and engagement rings I had re-modelled into something I'd wear. So the diamonds on either side are my grans and a pink morganite stone in the middle. Very hard to see the pink. The second pic is my wedding and engagement ring. Not wore any of them in months!

Mine was my grandma's, we think my grandad bought it for her in the '60s. It's not something I would have ever chosen, but I absolutely love it and it's become very me, even though I always thought I'd go for understated minimalism!

@Sunstruck

Wow! Stunning! I have a real thing for emerald cuts and baguettes.

@lachy love yours too.

I always notice people's rings, I thought I was the only person who loved looking at them. So many different styles and stories.

Rebelwithallthecause · 06/06/2020 04:21

@roarfeckingroar that’s gorgeous!

@grosseconnasse oh my! What a wonderful heirloom

Not showing mine because outing but only place I can boast is here! Family would be snide and friends would be dumbfounded because I am known for not being into conspicuous signs of wealth or bragging. Obviously, they've seen it but don't realise how much it's worth. However, I was very happy to be presented with a beautiful Mappin and Webb Princess cut 3 carat solitaire diamond - he'd listened re single stone and did bloody well! I can't remember category but almost flawless; one teeny inclusion. I love it and have nice hands (only bit of me I like!) so does get noticed. I know original cost because have seen insurance valuations - appreciated in value x3.

I noticed most posters wear their rings like I do - wedding ring first. I'm sure the advice at the time was wedding ring was meant to stay on and engagement ring could be taken off?

Love this thread! Such gorgeous rings on here 😍
Mine was picked by DH - I'm still surprised at his good taste! I struggled to find a wedding ring that fit with my engagement ring without a gap as the diamonds are raised. I wanted a plain band but none of them would fit right. I wasn't too keen on the one I ended up with but it has really grown on me and I love them both together now.

Gorgeous rings on here, I love nosing at what everyone's got and the stories behind them.
Here's mine, it's princess diamond in platinum. I chose it second hand as we were saving up for a house too. I love it but also wouldn't mind an upgrade one day Wink it's all I wear and I love admiring it.

It has a wedding band next to it these days. This was taken on the day we got engaged. I chose the diamond (after much research...I like to make sure we get the best value and quality) he chose the setting.

I'd choose a solitaire in white gold if I got engaged today but have had this one on my finger a long time. We recently celebrated our silver wedding anniversary.

I love these threads, especially the stories and family rings.

I don't know if mine are technically still "engagement rings" but I sold my original engagement and wedding ring some years back. So now each anniversary DH buys me a new ring for that finger, but obviously not diamonds apart from the year of the sparkly lab created ones Wink

I love the Anne Boleyn one so much, it's possibly the best present DH has ever given me. Although perhaps a wedding/engagement present should actually be Katherine of Aragon Grin) The pear shaped one I chose myself, it is 1960s. Love the sparkly ones too (I put the flash on as the sun isn't up here yet) they cost the grand sum of £40!

Bugger I meant to say, excuse the crooked hands and terrible photography skills Blush Also, shall we ignore the terrible irony of giving someone an Anne Boleyn ring for a marriage related purpose, as that didn't work out so well for her...

Shmithecat2 · 30/09/2020 09:47

I never had an engagement ring (2nd marriage, weren't actually engaged for long, 3 weeks maybe?), but DH bought me this trilogy ring after I had our ds. I absolutely adore it. We found it in an antiques shop.
