My DH is on a work Zoom, and OMG the 'jargon'

Scrum teams
Scrum master
Scrum of scrums
Cadence
Enterprise level agile
Continuous integration pipeline
We can drill into that later
Operate at scale
I'll drive on and we can circle back
Acceptance test driven development
Decomposition of requirements
Just to land that point on the ground
Chain of tools

That's just the last three minutes. Safe to say I have no clue what's going on there. Grin

Is it a conference of rugby playing oil executives? Who also dabble in surgery and body disposal?
Yikes.

WannabeMathematician · 29/05/2020 14:34

Software developer?

This is a fun game. If I'm not correct can we keep on guessing?

imwellardme · 29/05/2020 14:35

Business Change team??

AteAllTheAfterEights · 29/05/2020 14:36

Definitely something technology based - implementation program manager?

Lynda07 · 29/05/2020 14:36

I used to hate hearing my husband talking on the 'phone to 'work'. Every telephone call seemed to go on forever :-), plus his voice got louder and louder. Don't get me started on the jargon! You have my sympathy but - needs must, it won't go on forever, just seems like it.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/05/2020 14:36

I'm genuinely unsure. My DH's company doesn't do software development, but I think this conversation is at the very least tangential to that.

EBearhug · 29/05/2020 14:38

Definitely some sort of tech. I understood most of that. (Which doesn't mean I wouldn't roll my eyes at some of it, if I were in the meeting.)

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/05/2020 14:38

I think AteAllTheAfterEights is closer, but again, who knows.

Fortunately it's not my DH saying all this stuff, I fear I would lose all respect for and sexual attraction to him if it was. Grin

project/programme Management...

We take a lot of stuff off line, sprint a lot, circle back Grin

Rowing at the same stroke. (FFS)

In our house it’s:

Break-out groups
Non-negotiables
Inquiry-based
Open source
Marker space
Standards-Based grading

And loads and loads of acronyms!

Wankpuffin · 29/05/2020 14:39

Yesterday, my Dh was on a conference call and said in all seriousness, “Blue sky thinking”.

I had to leave the room.

LesleysChestnutBob · 29/05/2020 14:40

Has anyone said that something should be eyeballed yet?

Dillo10 · 29/05/2020 14:41

Works in sales/marketing for sure
A cadence is an automated sequence of emails sent out by marketing teams to prospects

DasPepe · 29/05/2020 14:41

Agile is an alternative approach to software development but it has also been used as a project management approach.
Scrum teams run Sprints, which are time set - and yes it does come from rugby :)

Some however at pure bullshit bingo! Like “drill into that” .

Part of my role now involves being scrum master. Omg it’s great sometimes but sometimes I feel like I have 2 sets of children :)

AteAllTheAfterEights · 29/05/2020 14:41

Rowing at the same stroke is a new one even for me 🤦🏻‍♀️

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 29/05/2020 14:41

Start using the phrases in everyday conversation with him (with random assigned meanings). So scrum of scrums could be bathing two children at once, with the scrum master being the parent and the scrum teams bei g the children.
And make up more...

florriepeck · 29/05/2020 14:42

Is he Chandler Bing?

iklboo · 29/05/2020 14:42

Are they playing team talk bingo?

CMOTDibbler · 29/05/2020 14:42

Sadly, I actually know what all of that means, and use those words. I'm a certified scrum master, though my development teams don't use a strict agile approach

AteAllTheAfterEights · 29/05/2020 14:43

Cadence is used for any regular rate of doing things - regular scheduled meetings for eg

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 29/05/2020 14:44

Ah I know... but I just can't remember the collective noun for a group of twats. Confused

CovidicusRex · 29/05/2020 14:44

Does he work in techy consultancy?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 29/05/2020 14:44

Black swan event.
Turn on a dime (that's an old one to be fair)
Screaming into a bucket
Malliability to market demands
Move the dials
Jump out of the blocks
Cogent answers

Have you had the 'conversation' yet?
