I'm absolutely fine but sometimes when things get a bit much I need to have a cry to let some sad feelings out. Has anyone got any ideas of (shortish) things I can watch to make me have a little weep ocassionally?

Ricky Gervais' Life After Death. Cried my eyes out a few days ago over this.

Inside No 9's 12 Days Of Christine. Honestly, nothing has made me sob like that did. Just the best piece of television I've ever seen.

Maleficent 2. I’m not shitting you. I didn’t even watch it, it’s really good and I cried like a baby.😳

Bluntness100 · 27/05/2020 18:30

I didn’t even want to watch it, clearly I watched it,,,🤣

mrslol · 27/05/2020 18:31

A little different but Dear Zachary is the absolute saddest documentary I've ever seen. It's just unrelentingly tragic.

After Life (on Netflix). Yes, it is a comedy, but it is also incredibly emotional and poignant... had me in tears every single episode!

Yes to Artificial Intelligence! My god, one day with his mother. Kills me everytime. I literally cannot watch it!!

My suggestions:

Madame X (Great 40s film if that doesn't get you crying you are made of stone woman!)

Dances With Wolves (no one can survive that ending unmoved)

Artificial Intelligence (see above)

The Way We Were (classic)

Deep in My Heart (A 1999 film made for TV based on a true story about a white woman who has to give her mixed raced baby up for adoption in the Jim Crow era. The story follows the experiences of her child. I have personally had the satisfaction of seeing this film reduce men in my family to tears. So you will be moved to a blubbering wreck...or you don't have a heart)

And on that note...my crowning glory for inducing instant tears is....

Imitation of life! (Now you will not get up the next day after watching the ending of that. Be prepared to phone in sick for work. Guaranteed tears)

Return to me with David duchovny and Minnie driver. It’s maybe a bit cheesy now but it’s like Jack and Sam with heart wrenching then heart warming and funny!

@CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate When I watched AI I gave up on tissue and ended up with a bath towel 😂🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Watch "Hachiko"

ShagMeRiggins · 27/05/2020 19:33

OP if you fancy something that isn’t sad and nobody dies Hmm, I recommend Instant Family.

Mark Wahlberg (I know) and Rose Byrne, topic is adoption.

It’s a comedy and it’s uplifting and yeah it’s a bit Hollywood, but at the end it made my stoic alpha husband bear hug me while weeping “thank you for my family.”

I was so busy heaving and ugly-crying with emotion that I almost didn’t notice.

dustybluebell · 27/05/2020 20:55

Lots have already been mentioned, but the lovely bones..
Also a dogs journey and a dogs purpose..my goodness seeped hard in the cinema.

dustybluebell · 27/05/2020 20:56

weeped probably seeped a bit too Grin

After Life or Derek

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 27/05/2020 21:15

Steel Magnolias (which is also very, very funny)

Truly, Madly, Deeply which is a masterpiece

The first few minutes of Up, about which there should be a “not suitable for adults” warning.

And as a pp said, The 12 Days of Christine which completely blindsided me. I realised what was going on way before DH, who looked at me as though I’d lost my mind.
