He’s starting back at macdonalds next week
It’s only his blooming birthday isn’t it?
Grrrr

@bookworm14
"The dismissal of children’s rights and needs has been one of the more depressing aspects of this whole shitshow."

Absolutely. And how can't see that this is an adolescent mental health crisis waiting to happen??

Weedsnseeds1 · 28/05/2020 20:21

Well, here is a happy story from Weston for once
www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2020-05-27/devastated-weston-super-mare-couple-left-speechless-after-cancelled-wedding-is-replaced-by-grand-pier-for-free/

The evil pier, who are vilified every time the post a "hope we will see you soon" message ( even though they ard closed and therefore not causing any flocking). Maybe it's an attempt to pacify the mob and avoid their business being burned to the ground (again) Grin

Local park on my walk this evening. Spoiler alert; there were groups of more than 6 people! Everyone was cheerful in their dangerous buffoonery though, and I saw a young man teaching his probably 50-something mum to ride a BorisBike, trotting alongside her holding onto the seat and shouting encouragement. It was lovely!

longestlurkerever · 28/05/2020 20:22

I am thinking that 2 households is lower risk than 6 individuals from 6 households so 2 families = minor rule bending at most.

RobinHobb · 28/05/2020 20:23

I have found my people - thank god. I actually thought I was losing my mind
One of my issues is I am married to a dementor. He told me, in all seriousness, that I would die if I went to the post office today. In fairness to him I am on the shielded list, and have been inside for the last ten weeks. With a 2yo and a 4yo. The joy. He doesn't want to send the 4yo back to school and we are fighting a battle. School is private and has only 7 kids in the class... and big building to scatter three year groups around in. She really needs her friends and proper teaching - she's regressing to the level of my 2yo.
But seriously, he is completely paranoid. 400odd people under the age of 45 have died of cv19 - and yes that's very very sad - but for ffs!!!

A pp said earlier how this shows how little society cares about children except as a nuisance and a childcare burden, and how none is the envisaged changes discusses them and how to improve their lot. My two are happy to go to Tesco, garden centers, public playgrounds, and are allowed in none. I don't give a shit about b&q and frigging next opening - and they don't allow kids in anyway. Should children go without clothes and shoes now? What the actual fuck is this insanity!

Whew that felt really good to get out of my system. Thank you.

And @TrustTheGeneGenie congratulations!

I have been reading the various anti dementors threads since the beginning, I have just been a lurker and have read them as and when I feel the dementor thermometer rising within my social media of MN and FB. But I have to let out a big arrrggghhhhh at the dementorish fucking "interpretation" of today's news that up to 6 people can meet. Suddenly it has become 6 people from ONLY 2 households ( maybe getting confused with Scottish guidance) and what does it matter anyhow? And now a pile on cos a person wants 3 picnics in one week to celebrate a childs 1st birthday, which god forbid is bad enough but then if you count the 1 year old as well it will be ....wait for it ....7 people! OMG where has the common sense of people gone ? And breathe .....ahhhhh

DominaShantotto · 28/05/2020 20:33

Katie Hopkins taking the piss out of the teachers unions and the schools definitely reopening announcement by posting photos of one of the local juniors to here that's gone up in flames today... has gone down about as appallingly as you'd expect on twitter.

I've managed to get DD2 to sleep before 10pm at night which is a major achievement lately - think the fact she's going back to school is starting to sink in and she might relax a bit. Her class teacher asked her to help give the new kids coming into that year group in September some answers to questions about the year group today and she LOVED the idea of doing that - she's such a kind little mother hen type creature.

DD1 has binge watched Operation Ouch all day. I'm calling that university revision for my medical sciences exam.

Drawback of the 6 people in gardens rule is that the twat next door will be having endless garden parties now - which usually end in a singalong till 4am. It's been the one blessing of all of this that we've been spared those.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 28/05/2020 20:35

Dianne I'm so sorry. How worrying for you. I hope things end up being ok.

I haven't seen Boris's news but I did go for a lovely walk with four people in one go. We had a good chat about the schools and it was so nice to see more than one other human. I feel better for it. There was no one else around so no one else to bother us.

justasking111 · 28/05/2020 20:36

I recall a thread on here last year during a heatwave people were sleeping on trampolines in the garden. I wonder if the dementors will clock it this year.

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/05/2020 20:37

My cousins went to that school DominaShantotto Sad.
Glad your DD seems a bit happier!
My 4 year old was VILE today. She’s always been trickier than her 6 year old sister (who is a dream) but today she has been horrific. Her best friend is my best friend’s daughter so at least we can arrange a meet up this weekend (even though it will make a group of 7!)

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/05/2020 20:37

Loads of people have been doing that round here over the past couple of weeks!
DominaShantotto · 28/05/2020 20:41

@Drivingdownthe101 I used to do a fair bit of supply teaching and the infants on the same site was one on my patch - with having kids a similar age and doing the usual circle of after-school activities around here - I know a lot of kids and families who go there. Gutted for them!

DH slept on the sofa the other night with all the conservatory french doors wide open to keep some cool air coming in.

Mine are both vile, bickery, over emotional to the point we're back to dealing with toddler level irrational tantrums right now and bloody sick of the sight of each other!

Drivingdownthe101 · 28/05/2020 20:42

Yes, my older two are really close in age (19 months apart) and genuinely best friends but they’re sick to death of each other. DD1 (6) has taken to reading in bed until 10pm as it’s the only peace she gets from her sister!

DominaShantotto · 28/05/2020 20:54

Yeah mine are 10 1/2 months apart (neither pregnancy went full-term so the gap isn't as shagtacular as it initially sounds!) and they're normally incredibly close but they are driving each other mad now. Doesn't help the eldest is 8 and quite old for her age (all that cohort in school seem to have been) and very tweenagery now, and the younger one is 7 and seems to be in a group of very much still little girl girls and very young natured. Add in a 2 bed house, DH on work calls constantly in the living room amid the chaos (I've told him point blank his work can pay me if they expect me to keep the kids quiet in THEIR home and thankfully he and his work have a similar view about kids not being quiet in all of this) and it's a fucking nightmare!

DD1 just retreats to the loo for 4 hours to have a shit and read an entire book!

SomewhereEast · 28/05/2020 21:11

I too am desparate for playgrounds. We actually stumbled on a little open playground in a quiet spot yesterday and I just let the DC at it (sanitised their hands afterwards). There was a pile of crime scene tape dumped in a corner so I think they'd had a visit from the Playground Liberation Army Grin.A few stately home type attractions round our way are reopening soon, but they're all keeping their lovely adventure playgrounds closed so whats the point?

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 28/05/2020 21:17

I love the idea of a Playground Liberation Army Grin

Bollss · 28/05/2020 21:23

I long to take Ds to a playground. Why can't they just have something ffs!

RunningNinja79 · 28/05/2020 21:30

Oh god its going to be like the hour rule for exercise isn't it? Where there was never a time limit given other than a random time picked out of the air when Grove was interviewed (although I remember people saying an hour before said interview) and suddenly people took it as the law. Sundays are my long run days, I dont think I was under an hour once (apart from the one week where I didn't go out at all, but that was just lazy-itus)

Pertella · 28/05/2020 21:33

We went to our local park today to meet up with a school mum and her kids. The joy on DS's face almost had me in tears. Watching him being able to run around and play with his friend has made such a difference to his mood. He went to bed, tired out st a reasonable time - no silks or strops.

We're doing it again on monday 🤩

justasking111 · 28/05/2020 21:34

So funny this morning a man on a bike went cycling down the cycle paths here buck naked. Lots of people out walking their dogs got an eyeful. The jokes have been good, nice to be able to have a laugh now and again.

littlbrowndog · 28/05/2020 21:47
