Does anyone have any netflix hidden gems?

I've seen all the usual ones that everyone knows about but I am out of stuff to watch and Netflix only puts stuff that it thinks you will like. So I get a merry-go-round of the same stuff each time.

Does anyone have anything that they think is brilliant but no one else seems to know about?

GLOW
Dumplin

Ragnarok. Norse gods meet climate crimes. There’s two french spy series on, The Bureau and a Very Secret Service. Both v entertaining.
First series of Happy. But be warned despite the cartoon animals it is not child friendly.

Medici. Especially if you like history or have ever been to Florence

Caliphate is very good, but harrowing. Its set in Raqqa, Syria under ISIS, but from the women's point of view.

AddressLabel · 23/05/2020 18:46

Wanted
Glitch
The Dark
Lillyhammer

Also I watched The Wrong Missy the other night and it was hilarious, but not a high standard

Agree with poster who said Quicksand, really good.

Messiah is also excellent.

ifeellikeanidiot · 23/05/2020 18:51

Seven Seconds is ace - I'm always surprised noone else has ever seen it.

Teacup34 · 23/05/2020 18:51

Cinderella66 · 23/05/2020 18:53

The truth about the Harry Quebert Affair on prime is brilliant, Blood is on all4 with adrian Dunbar at his best, love Outlander on Netflix.

Cherryghost · 23/05/2020 18:56

I also recommend The Platform. It is very strange but a unique film

Rubiales678 · 23/05/2020 18:56

Money heist- Spanish subtitled thriller type thing. Very good. 10 episodes in with hubby.

Ninkanink · 23/05/2020 18:57

Lilyhammer started out so well (definitely worth watching the first series), but sadly went to shit.

Dag also started out brilliantly but went a bit weird. Again, well worth watching the first series.

Dark Tourist - a documentary that shows a subset of tourists not travelling to the popular tourist destinations, but to places which are associated with tragedy and gloom. I've learned so much about places I never knew existed watching this.

Badassmama · 23/05/2020 19:02

If you like a documentary check out The Blackfish, nothing else to add- I’m taking notes!

PoppinPopcorn · 23/05/2020 19:03

Save me. (Korean drama)

MarylandMayhem · 23/05/2020 20:10

If you like dystopian stuff I recommend 'Leila'.

Esbm2015 · 23/05/2020 20:15

Medici is wonderful

WashYourFins · 23/05/2020 20:25

Similarly to you, I have a merry go round of stuff that Netflix suggests, but perhaps mine is different to yours?

Glitch - Australian, bit like The Returned (people back from the dead)
Final Space - animation, if you like Futurama you'll probably enjoy
How To Get Away With Murder - love this

JessicaDay · 23/05/2020 20:26

Norsemen

H1978 · 23/05/2020 21:00

I would second AddressLabel‘s suggestion for Wanted, excellent series with suspense and comedy in equal measure and some really good acting

Wannabegreenfingers · 23/05/2020 21:03

Try White Lines, it's new. I binged in 3 nights- brilliant
