I absolutely love Stickman. DD is obsessed with it and loves wearing the costume. I also like paper dolls though I well up every time I read it.
I don’t like Tabby McTat. I just can’t get the rhyme right!

I love The Paper Dolls. ❤️ The page with the memories just melts my heart.

I think The Highway Rat is the 'cleverest'. The adaptation of The Highwayman is genius.

I think Jack and the Flum Flum Tree is the funniest...but I think you need a Scottish accent to read it.

I don't like The Flying Bath. Too short. Not much of a story at all.

DD1 likes The Troll best. She did not like A Squash and a Squeeze as a toddler/pre-schooler.

DD2 likes The Princess and the Wizard best but she 'read' a board book of Monkey Puzzle over and over as a toddler. She has never disliked any.

Love Zog, I cannot stand the smartest giant.

OutComeTheWolves · 24/05/2020 15:11

Love snail and the whale and paper dolls.

Hate smartest giant because with my accent I have to force the rhyme and end up pronouncing it as girarrrf.

Love Room on the Broom and Snail and the Whale

Don't like The Highway Rat.

Just remembered the cook and the king, which is really funny.

Stick Man is my favourite too, closely followed by Snail and the Whale. I really like Troll, and Cave Baby, Zog, Sharing a Shell.

Really hate Superworm, it's just dark and horrible. Don't like Highway rat either, and there are several I find dull too, Tiddler, Charlie Cooks favourite book, Squash and a Squeeze, Smartest Giant, all the acorn wood (much prefer Axel's Pip and Posy).

Yes - this. The repetition of 'riding' is a lovely nod to the original:

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
Riding—riding—
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

It has the rhythm of riding. To me, anyway.

Apologies for cut and paste errors! There shouldn't be a word struck out in the poem quote.
