Would you go to a bbq this weekend?

Friends have invited us over. We have early teen children who know all about 2 metre rule.
Friends have a large garden and a outdoor loo so no need to go into their house at all.

Also live in a rural position with no close neighbours.

Your update makes it worse OP

Anyone going out and about, breaking the rules, putting innocent lives at risk for "your enjoyment" then i really hope if you catch it, that you wont burden the NHS !

I have this week and would again. Check the figures, compare them with other risks, then have a quick rummage in a box of grips and enjoy your burgers.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 22/05/2020 19:06

Do they have teenagers? Because we inadvertently discovered this week that teenagers are RUBBISH at social distancing!

TeensArghhhh · 22/05/2020 19:07

No

tartanbow · 22/05/2020 19:08

@daisymay133 couldnt agree more with your post. most people dont understand at all and blindly follow what they are told without questioning the logic or being able to use common sense. not bothered about getting flamed, I have a young baby, no outdoor space and have been to my mums garden and, incredibly, they had a bbq Sunday just gone which I went to. all sat apart, no alcohol involved and noone went inside. did my mental health and morale the world of good. if you are determined to be as miserable as possible then crack on but dont have a go at others who are able to use common sense and acknowledge that being outside atleast 2m away from anyone outside your household and regularly washing your hands is a massive risk to anyone else. its illogical

tartanbow · 22/05/2020 19:09

is not a massive risk*

ssd · 22/05/2020 19:10

No of course not.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/05/2020 19:11

I don’t think I would, but I wouldn’t judge anyone who does.

SinglePringle · 22/05/2020 19:14

No. Not because of any rules but because I don’t want to catch C19 / pass it on should I be asymptomatic.

I want to be able to enjoy a party when I go to one, not spend the evening feeling anxious about distance etc.

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 22/05/2020 19:16

Personally yes. Take a packet of wipes, and do the outdoor loo door handle, seat and taps at the beginning of the evening, our family use the outdoor loo, theirs use the indoor one. Risk is absolutely minimal. However one of my teens is autistic and a classic rule-follower and it would definitely cause her anxiety so for that reason it would be out of the question for us.

Nanalisa60 · 22/05/2020 19:18

I would !!

2007Millie · 22/05/2020 19:19

Christ, no wonder the virus is still spreading with the amount of people who have said yes on this thread. Selfish idiots.

Bienentrinkwasser · 22/05/2020 19:26

No, I work for the NHS and wouldn’t want to put my colleagues and our patients at risk.

TSSDNCOP · 22/05/2020 19:29

Nope.

I believe (having observed my neighbours who have all flagrantly disregarded the rules for weeks) that the 2m observation lasts approx the amount of time it takes to drink 2 beers.

YinMnBlue · 22/05/2020 19:34

I'm a key worker, have been going to work full time throughout lockdown.
Have been in contact with members of the public. Use work toilets. Sit in a staff room with many other staff members. Use communal microwave and tea urn etc

No way. Sorry OP, you are one of the last people I would socialise with.

I know lots of people have to work. And use work toilets etc. But why then spread that risk by mixing with people who are not in that network or are distancing.

The virus will only stop spreading if we create firebreaks.

Teens, several people helping / in and out of the kitchen, everyone using the toilet?

No way.

thewinkingprawn · 22/05/2020 19:38

I definitely would. We shall be enjoying a bbq with grandparents and then seeing friends for similar. All in the garden. I think it’s time everyone started to get a grip about the actual risk you young, fit healthy people.

StealthPolarBear · 22/05/2020 19:39

The actual risk might suggest one course of action. The law suggests another. Why is the answer to break the law rather than question it?

Dillo10 · 22/05/2020 19:42

Personally I would not. Would not seem worth it to me.

pooopypants · 22/05/2020 19:44

Nope

SauvignonBlanche · 22/05/2020 20:07
VictoriaBun · 22/05/2020 20:09

No, One person not from your family 2 metres apart.

Janaih · 22/05/2020 20:25

Its guidance/advice rather than actual law.
