Would you go to a bbq this weekend?

Friends have invited us over. We have early teen children who know all about 2 metre rule.
Friends have a large garden and a outdoor loo so no need to go into their house at all.

Also live in a rural position with no close neighbours.

The risk is minute

Based on what exactly?

Not anything any of the scientists are saying.

The virus is transmitted by people!

People sharing bbq food/toilet etc is not sensible.

Chloemol · 22/05/2020 14:02

No,

Marshmanimal · 22/05/2020 14:05

I would go for a picnic with own food and plates etc.

Presume family would use indoor toilet and visitors use outdoor one?

Bellabelles · 22/05/2020 14:06

@IncrediblySadToo Based on the fact that transmission rates are near non existent in parts of the country including where I am, based on the age of attendees, the fact attendees have barely seen anyone else over the past two months and the fact that most people who contract the virus are very mildly affected. I know many people who think they have had the virus and some who have had confirmed positive results - everyone has had very mild symptoms.

aliceinsunderland44 · 22/05/2020 14:07

No absolutely not.

What's the relevance of the outdoor loo? You'll all still be touching the same handle, flush, taps etc surely?

The rules clearly state that these sort of gatherings aren't allowed yet.

newmumwithquestions · 22/05/2020 14:08

No way. And I’m not that risk averse. But it just isn’t necessary.

acocadochocolate · 22/05/2020 14:12

No. You would be breaking the rules because you are more than 2 people and not meeting in a public space.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 22/05/2020 14:14

No. Is there a sink with the outside loo? We have one but no sink out there.

I would go and have a drink with neighbours in their front garden. But no more than 4 or 6 people, and still take my own chair and drinks.

I don't consider myself to be especially cautious but going to a BBQ just for the hell of it ... no, definitely not.

Bloodybridget · 22/05/2020 14:18

I would, based on what you're saying - you can stay well away from the other family in the garden, don't need to enter the house, they can use the loo inside so it will only be your family using the outdoor one, no difference to home. You can get food from the barbecue one family at a time and use your own cutlery to serve yourselves.

BackforGood · 22/05/2020 14:20

No

PuppyMonkey · 22/05/2020 14:21

You’ll be sharing their utensils, crockery, glasses, their toilet germs and probably their spit as they talk to you. Sounds like fun. Grin

Lindy2 · 22/05/2020 14:23

No. Why on earth would you take the extra risk.

If your neighbours are happy to invite people round I'm sure they are also happy to not bother with that pesky social distancing or hygiene.

LockedInMadness · 22/05/2020 14:24

NO!! I can't believe how many people are saying they would go!

I know. We’ll be in this lockdown forever if stupid people don’t follow the flipping rules. 🤬

Thescrewinthetuna · 22/05/2020 14:24

Nah, not yet

CosmicVagina · 22/05/2020 14:25

No

JudyGemstone · 22/05/2020 14:27

I would.

PinkSpring · 22/05/2020 14:30

I would (and am)

clumsyduck · 22/05/2020 14:30

I would be incredibly tempted but no I wouldn’t Sad

ChessIsASport · 22/05/2020 14:30

No. We are going to be in this strange partial lockdown forever if people can’t follow the rules.

HungryForSnacks · 22/05/2020 14:34

No

aliceinsunderland44 · 22/05/2020 14:40

Can't believe how many selfish idiots would actually do this.

SquatBetty · 22/05/2020 14:42

Yes

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 22/05/2020 14:43

No.
Yet another "roolz don't apply to me" thread.

Biscuit
rooarsome · 22/05/2020 14:43

highmarkingsnowbile · 22/05/2020 14:43
