Morning all, well the cafe thread is just about full so here's the new thread.

Just a reminder Florence has made pastries over night, the garden is open with the sensory garden, the cat area (with catnip bush) is available and feel free to cool your feet int the water feature.

So what's for breakfast?

sashh · 18/06/2020 06:56

Florence has made some rather nice breads, so I'm basing the breakfasts on toast, so beans on toast, eggs on toast welsh rarebit.

Thry the cheese and onion bread toasted with bacon and beans. IRL my grandmother used to make cheese and onion bread, it's fab straight from the oven.

Hope you’re all well?

sashh · 18/06/2020 08:01

Morning all!
The cheese and onion bread with beans and bacon is right up my street. Feel like I need to find it IRL now 🤣🤣

PinkDaydreams · 18/06/2020 09:27

@sashh you spoil me, I’ll have duck please!

sashh · 18/06/2020 12:05

Hands over toast with beans and duck eggs.

Miserable day today, I was going to walk down to the little local shop to get some bread, milk, eggs and butter but I can’t see the rain stopping so will go tomorrow instead (when I will actually run out of milk!!). Any plans today anyone?

whatever45 · 19/06/2020 05:33

Morning all, happy Friday !

sashh · 19/06/2020 05:34

Morning all.

@PinkDaydreams I'm quite lucky, O can get all of those from the milk man, not cheap but it's a bit like magic when you get up and there is bread waiting for you.

OK so today's special, slightly unusual for the UK but not in other parts of the world, fish.

Kippers obviously, kedgeree is a given but some other fish, steamed fish from Japan, crab cakes, salt fish.

@whatever45 you sound chirpy Grin

I used to love caribbean breakfasts with salted cod, salad with lime, and eggs. Hot chocolate made from grated chocolate balls and spices.

whatever45 · 19/06/2020 05:56

Morning Frownette , Mind over matter - amazed I've got to Friday after first week back out in the world! Have a good day all .

sashh · 19/06/2020 05:57

@Frownette

It looks like you are cooking tomorrow then.

Yikes!!

Frownette · 19/06/2020 06:10

I'm not sure where to get hold of Jamaican chocolate balls at short notice in a small town!

Ok, I'll get salting the cod

sashh · 19/06/2020 06:28

You can get the chocolate here yamman.co.uk/products/chocolate-ball?variant=4301963919387

I wouldn't be able to get hold of the tinned stuff to rehydrate!! It's a quaint town which seems to specialise in posh gin shops

sashh · 19/06/2020 06:47

Posh gin and salt fish for breakfast, sounds good.

sashh did your grandmother show you how to make cheese and onion bread?

sashh · 19/06/2020 07:05

@Frown yes she did.

Basic bread dough at the 'knock back' stage, finely chop an onion, grate some cheese - sorry you just do this by eye, not measurement, knead the cheese and onion into the bread then bake as normal.

The onion will taste almost raw, if you don't like that then fry the onion first.

Hello!

mogloveseggs · 20/06/2020 10:11

Morning!
Caribbean Platter sounds amazing!
Only time I've had fish for breakfast is when I used to have kippers and scrambled eggs on holiday as a kid.

sashh · 20/06/2020 13:21

Wow lovely spread
