and the toilets

beachgoer · 21/05/2020 12:49

I`ll keep away from wells then.

TheGreatWave · 21/05/2020 12:49

My DD is not really effected as she is yr 3, but the letter from school is fairly well balanced.

They are holding off to the 8th (ne is still a little behind the curve) but it seems all well thought out and overall it was a positive communication.

And most definitely no school in Scotland until August. After that a "blended approach" between kids being in school, and home learning.

Fucks sake. DD's exams next year are going to be a nightmare.

KaronAVyrus · 21/05/2020 12:58

They may as well scrap Nat 5s/ Highers next year as they won’t be receiving a proper education. What a farce.

MinnieMountain · 21/05/2020 13:00

Apparently people are flocking to our city for the 6 open McDonalds drive throughs. Murdering bastards Grin

littlbrowndog · 21/05/2020 13:02

Bloody farce. Schools going to be blended. 🤷‍♀️

SockYarn · 21/05/2020 13:06

Quite. I have a child sitting Nat 5s next May and I'm worried. As I said on another thread, looks like the scottish government is going to leave decisions on what their "blended approach" to education is down to each local council. So that when everyone tanks their exams next year, and literacy rates go through the floor, it's not their fault.

bookworm14 · 21/05/2020 13:10

How on Earth is this blended learning thing supposed to work for working parents? Has anyone actually taken that into consideration?

Nihiloxica · 21/05/2020 13:11

Surely, given August is 3 months away, the default should be that schools open ad normal, and fall back plans are made in case they can't?

Why is this shit half life being accepted as the default?

Have we given up on the principles of free movement, freedom of association, and free universal education?

That anybody thinks our schools should be closed for more than half a year for pretty much any reason is nuts.

Why are we not more angry about our services being taken away?

Even if this was as bad as the bubonic plague I would hope we would be more measured in our response

KaronAVyrus · 21/05/2020 13:11

I’ve got a child doing Nat 5s next year and this is an utter fiasco. The SNP gave up caring about education long ago.

There is also no definition of the term. Does it mean mornings or afternoons? Certain year groups on certain days? Week on, week off? Who knows.

heroku · 21/05/2020 13:16

Oh dear just had a tense conversation with the father who revealed himself to be an anti-runner dementor. Apparently it shouldn't be allowed because the runners are "huffing and puffing their aerosols everywhere" which is equivalent to someone walking down the street coughing and sneezing without covering their face. There was no convincing him unfortunately so he'll be continuing to tut and give runners dirty looks in his brave battle to protect the NHS. I do apologise everyone.

littlbrowndog · 21/05/2020 13:17

FFS. they got 3 months to ge5 our schools sorted

What are we meant to do with our kids when we go back to work if there is any jobs left to go back too

tigger1001 · 21/05/2020 13:18

And how does blended education work if you need to get a bus to school?? Can't social distance on a bus, or does covid 19 not go on buses?

I am really worried for both my children's education

Drivingdownthe101 · 21/05/2020 13:20

It’s just another way of passing the buck to the schools themselves. ‘We want you to do this but we’re not going to tell you how to do it’. It also seems to be a bit ‘im not doing what Boris is doing’. Guidance here is to get children back full time so what does NS say? No full time schooling.
It’s all lunacy. I’m not even in Scotland and I’m angry for you. It is in no one's best interests.

Nihiloxica · 21/05/2020 13:23

It is in no one's best interests.

Sturgeon clearly believes it is in hers.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 21/05/2020 13:23

I’ve contacted the welsh lot with done pointed questions and I’d recommend doing the same. It made me feel that I’d at least raised my voice as the dementors have taken over social media

Mascotte · 21/05/2020 13:25

@tigger1001 this is the first time I've felt genuinely worried about my child's education. He's due to start high school and this is far far too long to be off. And what the fuck is blended school/education?

Very upset.

Toomanycats99 · 21/05/2020 13:26

@Spudlet

I have just had some non essential work doing! One of the last bit of my kitchen that didn't get done before lockdown.

They wore masks and gloves and I had to wipe everything down, move all items out the way so they didn't have to touch anything and then leave them to it.

I need one more bit doing whichI am tempted to book in. Local self employed person who has made it clear he is happy to do the work at the moment.

Mascotte · 21/05/2020 13:26

I'm letting mine out with a friend btw if we can find one without dementor parents.

IcedPurple · 21/05/2020 13:27

I don't live in Scotland and I don't have kids, but if I did, announcing 'blended' learning 3 months in advance would piss me off big time. That's almost 3 months away. Think how different things were in Feb, they could have changed just as much between now and August.

By all means make provisions for different scenarios, among them 'blended' learning, but to say right now that this is how it will be, no matter what happens between then and now, seems wrong.

Dowser · 21/05/2020 13:28

I’m angry for you too Scotland..she should be opening right this minute
Such a bleeding bloody farce

I’m angry because the fucking bloody bastarding council are closing. Off the roadside ( free at the moment Because meters are blocked off ) beach Parking To widen the pavement for social fuck off distancing
Our prom and greens are massive

We live in the ne ffs, this will not be needed come August and the weather is shite

Our fucking money fucking wasted again by our bellend council

So, very, very angry
It’s too much to hope that beach residents will rise up and complain
Bastard bastard bastard 😡😡😡😡

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 21/05/2020 13:29

@Mascotte me too but it’s hard to ask I text and because of lockdown you’ve got to wait until you bump into them and skirt around it then! It’s so hard but Facebook has at least given me an idea of who to avoid! I’ve muted a fair few now

Dowser · 21/05/2020 13:29

Dolphins were seen off the harbour this morning
Sadly not by us
