DS has just asked what I'm laughing at. Has asked me to pass on - "Go to the beach? I'd leave it five minutes if I was you!"

LilacTree1 · 20/05/2020 19:52

I saw an example of how they distort photos for crowds...was it here? If anyone has it, I’d find it useful, thank you.

Today on my walk, I’d say most people didn’t think about SDing but an elderly lady moved very far to get out of my way.

TheGreatWave · 20/05/2020 19:54

I see the BBC didn't manage to catch our little gathering at Loch Ness, our invisibility cloaks are working well. Grin

Dowser it was me with the DD who has prescription toothpaste, thanks for the link, hers is made by Colgate but I imagine they are all much the same assuming the fluoride content is the same.

So our council have just done a Q&A on Facebook. They ignored every question relating to why they thought they knew better than government. Ignored questions about neglect and abuse. Ignored anything with facts and figures and basically only answered the ones like "how can I keep my child occupied"

ffs.

Only silver lining was that I was not the only commenter angry that they'd basically answered fuck all.

Labour council?

BakewellTarts · 20/05/2020 20:17

Really hacked off about dentists. Mine (lovely practice I'm not cross with them) rang me today to rearrange my hygienst appointment again. No I'm not in pain and its routine maintenance but I don't want issues in the future. I now need to scramble for an appointment if / when they finally reopen.

Still on the positive side my council (Herts) are being sensible about schools reopening. Discussed in council today and they even ignored the local petition whipped up by the crazy dementors on my social media feed. Good on them.

And the school sent a very interesting message about recognising that their pupils were suffering through the lockdown Hmm. However at least they recognised it as an issue and are trying to take steps. I think they are a bit shocked at how many people want to send their kids in (80% of Year 6) and the feedback (which they asked for) on how life was going and its challenges.

I've just been rereading the unlocking plan. Has anyone else noticed just how quiet the media and govt have gone on social bubbles? I think the initial plan was 1st June?

Bollss · 20/05/2020 20:17

Yup!

I'm delighted to announce that I've managed to secure a takeaway slot at our tiny Thai restaurant. The husband and wife team who run it started up again as a takeaway just doing a short menu of frozen curries which she had obviously cooked during the week. Last week they expanded to freshly cooked Pad Thais on one evening - cooked to order, only bookable in advance - and it was so popular they expanded to 2 evenings, and I still couldn't get a slot. But this weekend I have - I will be going there at 6.40 on Saturday, to pick up my previously ordered and paid for Pad Thai (and a frozen curry, for later, obviously), which I will then rush home to eat. Hopefully this level of business will keep them going until everything returns to normal. Phew.

Willitneverend · 20/05/2020 20:25

I hope we're able to drive to exercise soon. I'm just dying to go away and pish in a different sheep trough. The local ones have lost all novelty value.

countrygirl99 · 20/05/2020 20:25

MaudesMum my favourite thai restaurant is tiny and has started doing takeaway. We are 8 miles outside town so not sure how well they would travel.

rookiemere · 20/05/2020 20:27

Oh wow so massive excitement. Neighbour on the street managed to get an actual ice cream van to come round. We didn't know what time it would arrive so on tenterhooks all day. Just back from our our purchases - must admit in all the excitement I'd forgotten I don't like Mr Whippy ice cream - but got a can of diet coke and a bag of mint Malteser buttons and talked to the neighbours from a 2 metre distance. Even perenially indoors DS 14 was persuaded to come along.

We're in Scotland as well, so I feel St Nichola would definitely not approve.

rookiemere · 20/05/2020 20:28

I love prawn pad thai Maudesmum - tried making it at home but it's so much better from the restaurant.

Mascotte · 20/05/2020 20:29

@rookiemere 😱 Mr Whippy is the food of the gods!

Campervan69 · 20/05/2020 20:29

We have just spent the most wonderful day on the beach. Took the camper van so completely self-sufficient. However chippies and ice cream vans were open and there were so many more people than last week it was unbelievable. Still plenty of possibilities to socially distance on the beach cos it's massive but walking along the promenade nobody was bothering. I didn't see one person with a mask on or any gloves.

Mascotte · 20/05/2020 20:30

I popped over to Scotsnet. Pretty positive!

rookiemere · 20/05/2020 20:32

Mascotte never been fond of Mr Whippy since it was recommended as one of the things not to eat when pregnant because of the chance of food poisoning due to the bacteria I think . I prefer a good Feast bar myself, but they didn't have those.

Mascotte · 20/05/2020 20:33

😃 I dice with death for the airy ice cream

Willitneverend · 20/05/2020 20:33

It's got quite a Burnsian ring to it:

justasking111 · 20/05/2020 20:37

363 deaths today.

Wales 14, Scotland 50, NI 5, England 166 = 235. So at least 128 died outside a hospital setting. Probably more because Wales does not release care home/home deaths separately daily.

The care homes are really suffering aren`t they.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 20/05/2020 20:44

If that is the case you need to link me up @Mascotte

littlbrowndog · 20/05/2020 20:46

They are justasking. Half deaths in Scotland in care homes

The polis were out today in meadows

Checking we weren’t sunbathing or not excersising.

But lots of people were just sitting reading their books o4 playing with their kids.
Loads of us are cooped up in flats

Let us out Nicola. Ffs

Bollss · 20/05/2020 20:48

@justasking111 blimey I didn't realise how big a % care home deaths made up.

I can't believe we're still in lockdown with those numbers tbh.
