Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 17/05/2020 19:23

So nice to have a shiny new thread! I'm so glad I found you all!

DominaShantotto · 17/05/2020 19:24

Greetings and place marking for my sanity.

rosettesforjill · 17/05/2020 19:25

I'm in!

CoachBombay · 17/05/2020 19:26

Hello do you mind if I join, the constant doom and gloom and pitchfork villagers demanding an Apocalypse are getting to me now 😔

I literally want to scream!

Bollss · 17/05/2020 19:26

Found you!

Was pleased to see a thread where op let her toddler play with another toddler. Most people said it was fine.

THE TIDE IS TURNING.

Mascotte · 17/05/2020 19:26

And just to be clear, this is not a picnic in Wales or Scotland where there is to be strictly no fun

I had a bad day yesterday FB friends now snoozed, groups unfollowed, opened my Sunday paper this morning, scrolled, down, down, down, down, all gloom and doom so thought blow it and played solitaire instead.

Thanks for the new thread Mascotte

justasking111 · 17/05/2020 19:28

Grand kids went to the garden centre today, they also had a walk, loved both. Thank god garden centres are allowed in Wales now.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 17/05/2020 19:28

Hi All!
We took a walk on the beach today, had an ice cream and flew a kite for a bit.
DH had already been out to do the shopping and DS and I had been out on bikes. I feel like a serial killer....

MagdaS · 17/05/2020 19:30

Hello again my favourite bunch of despicables.

DominaShantotto · 17/05/2020 19:31

To all the new people - welcome with open arms. We do shades of grey in here (not quite 50 of them unless that's what floats your boat) and we are quite capable of agreeing to disagree and understanding that what fits one poster's circumstances and personal perceptions of risk may not fit everyone else's.

Almost like we're some kind of civilised species (apart from Sandra the expert on FB)

PatriciaHolm · 17/05/2020 19:31

Not sure what it says about me that this was the first thing that sprung into my head seeing the new title ....

(Actually I know exactly what it says. It says I haven't seen my DP in 2 months and not sure when I will!)

LilacTree1 · 17/05/2020 19:32

Thanks for the new thread

If “stay alert” means “use common sense” I’m afraid I’m one of the people who didn’t get it.

But when Jenny Wotsit of the science “experts” says “children can’t have pencils in case they share them” I don’t know what common sense is either.

I’d say if I feel unwell, I need to stay at home.

But I can’t agree that common sense is “you have to meet your parents in public because if you walk through the house to reach the garden, you put them at risk”.

LilacTree1 · 17/05/2020 19:34

Or, one parent can swap in and out so you are never more than a gathering of two.

Hello All!

Just been watching the news about travelling to exercise. Woman and her family down on the Dorset coast. On being interviewed she said they'd driven 1.5 hours to get there and was very aggrieved that the beach was busy - 'it's just like Tescos'! DH turned round and said 'I bet she's on Mumsnet'. He's probably right.

LilacTree1 · 17/05/2020 19:39

I’ve just remembered what I saw on Friday that made me realise I needed an MN break

It was a poster saying the “no gatherings of more than two” and “you can’t see your parents if you have to walk through the house to the garden” were rules that were necessary to stop people having parties.

Drivingdownthe101 · 17/05/2020 19:41

Hello!

HauntedGoatFart · 17/05/2020 19:44

Checking in.

A local friend came over last night, walked down our side return and I met her in the garden for a drink. Today I had my long cycle to the river and a takeaway ice cream. DH cycled all the way to Hyde Park to meet a friend from east London. It was the best weekend in months and did us both so much good.

Look after yourselves, everyone. You matter. Things are going to get better.

Willitneverend · 17/05/2020 19:48

Did anyone else see the particularly dementor-y Mariella Frostrup column in the Guardian?

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2020/may/17/by-visiting-her-partner-my-housemate-is-putting-us-all-at-risk-covid-19-safeguarding

I could understand if the housemate thought she was at risk but she just seems like a total drama llama.

heroku · 17/05/2020 19:49

I think I'm with you Lilac. If "stay alert" is code for "use your common sense" then why not just say "use your common sense"? Personally I don't think you can say you'll be "increasing fines for those breaking the rules" without explicitly explaining what "the rules" are supposed to be. I do think the overall approach to easing lockdown is the right one, I just think the communication of it was shite.

Dowser · 17/05/2020 19:50

Hello all!! Just marking my place and expressing my extreme disappointments that my Taylor Swift / JK Rowling mash up thread title suggestion wasn't taken up. You bastard, @Mascotte, I bet you've been personally responsible for at least three murders in the last half an hour alone.
