Checking in! You'll probably have the MN chicken owners complaining as well now!

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 15:34

Oh we have chucks, they would love this thread Grin

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 13/05/2020 15:36

Is it the magical Mumsnet chicken??

GroEggAndHam · 13/05/2020 15:36

Checking in.
I would love some chucks but we don't have a big enough garden.

Re:the school surveys. Are they tick boxes or fill in your own rationale?

DominaShantotto · 13/05/2020 15:39

See a friend of mine's had the survey asking if they want their child to come back on the 1st, replied that no, they don't, they feel its a bit too soon... and then, they've managed to just pop that comment in a neutral FB message in reply to someone asking once, and carried on with their life as normal. They haven't posted really bad comments about how opening the schools is death, how the Commons should open first, how they don't want their kids to be guinea pigs... they've just said "no, it's not a risk we're happy with at the moment" and gone on with their life, respecting that some of us have kids desperately needing to go back, or circumstances meaning that they can have key worker places. We disagree on this particular one - but we can still remain friends, civilised and move on to bitching about the queue outside Tesco etc.

It's amazing.

Chicken is a funny choice, OH has a 4 inch scar on his calf from a maran cockerel who thundered up to him from behind lifted his leg complete with spur and slashed at him. He was so vicious we gave him to a farmer who when that happened to him put him in the pot. Grin

DominaShantotto · 13/05/2020 15:40

Oh we have chucks, they would love this thread

Know what they would really really love? Tiny chicken crash helmets!

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 15:41

It is a choice one DIL is putting the children back in the other one is not, they have not fallen out over it.

DrearyWallAntler · 13/05/2020 15:55

I went out on the kayak today as I promised myself.

It was lush.

I had:
1x passive aggressive comment. (old man wheezing along tow path spluttering over people 'well I didn't read that we could do that now' )
1x actual aggressive comment (shouter claimed I was contaminating everything and that I had TRAVELLED and should be ashamed of myself. He was invited to repeat his rant within two meters of me. He looked confused, and declined as he would get wet. I said 'rather proves my point' and carried on.)
20x lovely chats and happy comments.

Saw plenty of ducks, swifts, sheep and even a few fish

All in all, quite nice.

MinnieMountain · 13/05/2020 15:57

Ours was yes/no and why, then preferences as to the logistics and do we mind if they're not being taught as normal.

I need to check the local FB page for amusing demented comments.

ISaySteadyOn · 13/05/2020 15:57

Checking in.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 15:58

Glad you enjoyed the kayaking, ignore the weirdos, maybe they will take some times to get used to the new advice

I saw couple of boys trying to fish in the park duck pond. Bless them

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/05/2020 15:58

Are they tick boxes or fill in your own rationale?

Ours is tick box and none of the options fit my view!

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 15:58

Tell them watersports are allowed now. they are.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 15:59

if we'll be sending DC back on 1st June and why

Um to get an education?

AnxiousElephant77 · 13/05/2020 15:59

We've had a survey too, but only for parents of the years going back first. Seemed sensible to me and a way to gauge 'demand'.

Springersrock · 13/05/2020 16:00

Re:the school surveys. Are they tick boxes or fill in your own rationale?

Ours was:
Student Name
Will they attend? Yes/no/maybe
Further info - any questions we may have, any thing that’s happened over lockdown, etc

Only for year 10 so far though

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 16:05

Oh that kaying story is funny will relate to OH later. He is champing at the bit to get to his boat, marina shut down in Wales no chance. Dementors were screaming last week they had seen boats out in the river, umm.. was the harbour authority. Grin

heroku · 13/05/2020 16:07

I think I may have actually just undementored a dementor.

I said "well if you feel it's not safe for you then I think you should stay in but I'm not worried for myself so I'll carry on". It totally worked! You could see the FOMO was kicking in and she was trying to look for reasons why I shouldn't be allowed out if she's not going out. I said "I'm happy to take the risk and help kickstart the economy so people like you can stay at home". Eventually she decided that maybe the risk wasn't so bad after all.

Mark my words guys, FOMO will be the dementor's kryptonite. Expecto Pafomo!

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 16:08

On the visors, out school trust says they have been making them in school both for the NHS and for school and spent £4000 on hand sanitiser from their central trust budget, also are at detailed planning stage (this was before the announcement last week) that is secondary but primary also at similar stage

iamapixie · 13/05/2020 16:09

Placemarking to try and regain my sanity after a depressing trip on to a few other threads. So I notice it's changed from 'when you flout lockdown, decide which member of your family you want to kill' to 'if you send your kids to school, will you feel guilty about killing people'. Or something equally inane.

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/05/2020 16:11

Yeah I saw something along the lines of ‘better for your kid to temporarily miss out on their education than for them to potentially kill their friend’s mum’.

MagdaS · 13/05/2020 16:15

Found you and placemaking. The only sane corner of the internet!

The schools survey seems to be a thing, not that we've had one yet. Ours is a tiny school so there seems to be a suggestion that they might all go back in the infants. Half of Y2 are in anyway, as children of key workers, so it would seem daft to prevent the others.

Willitneverend · 13/05/2020 16:15

@Drivingdownthe101 That's quite a good one. It maybe needs to go on the bingo card.

Still no movement from NS here, it's "next week" before she says anything else. On the bright side, I'm off to mow down a few more hundred people by going for a family walk.

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 16:15

I do wonder what dementors will do when the flu season starts up again in the late autumn.
