YAY found you

savehalloween · 13/05/2020 17:50

Mark my words guys, FOMO will be the dementor's kryptonite. Expecto Pafomo!

I really do think the best thing we can do is confidently and unapologetically get on with our lives. I've been thinking about this today and I'm convinced you're right, the lure of not being on house arrest with kids crawling up the walls will be too much for many of those being vocal now to bear

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 17:51

It is the schools responsibility the safety of staff. Ours already said 'some staff are shielding so we'll have to see what our staffing levels are like' so it seems some will be staying at home.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 17:52

In reference to the dementing of parents sending DC in to school being Murderous

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 17:54

Oh god the dementors want Conwy shut off to traffic and the quayside for locals only in future. Nuts.

I have a theory about dementors, because they are at this time unable to peck their GPs heads daily/weekly they are taking it out on the world at large so there!!

Bollss · 13/05/2020 17:55

I've got lots of catching up to do. MN put me on the naughty step for daring to have an opinion in "the staff room"

I've decided not to engage with anyone except you lot where schools are concerned Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 17:55

They get really weird about flu, both denying it kills people and also getting into drama about feeling it 'minimises' covid, and at the same time not understanding that a vaccine is based on several strains and guess work...it's kind of strange.

OutwardBound2016 · 13/05/2020 17:55

Checking in. Have been quoting the ONS stats at people including the man in Wilkos who assured me that they were wrong (he also told me that people should not be buying clothes and shoes for children as it’s not essential.....)

heroku · 13/05/2020 17:56

I just got a WhatsApp from my best friend saying "Isn't it mad that I might not see another friend in person until 2021?"
And I replied "yes that is mad, you have gone mad"

For context she is a healthy 30 year old who lives on her own. Everyone I know (apart from DP thank god) has gone full dementor. I'm Sirius Black in Azkaban! Thank you all for keeping me sane. I now need to learn some patience or I might not be seeing any friends till 2021 (because I've got none left).

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 17:56

Hmm, well GPs do have a word for some patients "heart sink' they call it. Based on the way GPs feel when they see the name on the list..

Bollss · 13/05/2020 17:56

Ps I would really like chickens but it is WRITTEN IN TO THE DEEDS OF OUR HOUSE that we can't have them. Why?!?!

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 17:57

But why can't she see a friend when the have just told us we can see friends (at a distance)? That doesn't make sense. I do wonder if some people maybe like the drama of it all..

MorrisZapp · 13/05/2020 17:58

Yip, FOMO will save us all. Most dementors are total FB huns and their kids can't draw any more rainbows so how else are they going to get their like fix? I heartily support letting them stay at home while we bravely step back out into the world.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 17:58

In our deeds we are not allowed anything with more than 2 legs

BarkandCheese · 13/05/2020 17:59

Hello new thread. More small business in my area are reopening, the ghost town is starting to recede a bit and a touch of normality is coming back.

100% agree about the FOMO. When all this started some people were incensed at only key workers children being alone in school, how dare those greedy keys workers children get education while their children were at home.

By January I can see the AIBU “my little Johnny has been out of school since Corona started and I’m not sending him back until all death on earth is eradicated. However they’re having a school trip to the Harry Potter exhibition next week, he really wants to go, but the school are saying it’s only for children who actually physically attend. AIBU thinking this is unfair and he should be allowed to go?”

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 18:00

Wales are going against the grain on Not advising face masks. Ooh, the rebels

heroku · 13/05/2020 18:02

But why can't she see a friend when the have just told us we can see friends (at a distance)?

Because she doesn't have a car and apparently public transport is certain death so she is housebound forever. I already told her yesterday that I'd happily drive over to hers next week so yes I think she's just in it for the drama.

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 18:02

This will cheer you up my neighbour heart transplant patient very high risk late sixties has adopted a three year old dog, how is that for optimism. This is a man who spent six weeks in an induced coma, whose wife sat there every day, who had a team of people keeping him alive. He cherishes every day.

NewYorkIvy · 13/05/2020 18:02

Hello new thread. Been arguing on the class whatsapp today. Sad face sharing of that ridiculous headteacher whinge and the photo of children playing in a chalk square. Made a few of the mums who are keyworkers and sending their kids into school feel like shite so I had to say something. Oh well.

GroEggAndHam · 13/05/2020 18:04

As a keyworking mum, sending her grotty, almost-certainly Covid riddled DD into nursery, thank you NewYorkIvy. I had to stop myself messaging a friend who's DD is 'not a guinea pig'

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 18:06

Drakeford is a prize dick who is covering his ass because of the lack of PPE in Wales, from the NHS to care homes. He does not want anyone to purchase them despite the fact they are freely available to buy online. Perhaps the welsh people should be buying them and donating to the hospitals and shaming him. Not that you can shame the ex health secretary who was promoted out of harms way or so they thought at the time.

RumbaswithPumbaas · 13/05/2020 18:06

Evening all! Thanks for the new thread... nobody mention bird flu Grin

justasking111 · 13/05/2020 18:07

It is ironic that the nit nurse was pulled from schools, the schools these days do not send out letters saying we have an outbreak folks please check kids hair tonight, too shaming... but now we are told they are akin to plague ridden rats.

Bollss · 13/05/2020 18:08

@Orangeblossom78 that's bizzarre! Not even a cat or dog?!

I want chickens more because I'm not allowed them.

Orangeblossom78 · 13/05/2020 18:09

Can she cycle to meet her mate with a picnic? is she able bodied? Yes some people do like drama don't they
