Would £100k be a life changing amount of money to you?

And if so how would it so?
What would it go on or towards ?

it would pay off my mortgage and lots of change! Which would be nice!!

mynameisntlouise · 11/05/2020 15:42

It would (almost) pay off my mortgage and I'd have an extra £500 to spend every month, so yes.

Purplealienpuke · 13/05/2020 09:19

I could buy a flat where I live. I've never owned a property before. It would be amazing.
Alternatively I could travel to all the places I've only ever dreamed of. So yes, it would change my life

PogoBob · 13/05/2020 09:30

Yes, could pay off remaining credit card debt, replace our falling apart kitchen, replace the roof, re-plaster and paint all rooms and make a start on sorting out our garden. May not be that life changing but would make life a whole lot more comfortable.

ClementineTangerine · 13/05/2020 09:41

Yep it would.

Unfortunately our mortgage is more than twice that amount so i'd probably pay a small-ish chunk off the mortgage and have a really nice holiday after everything returns to a point where we can do so safely, but I'd put the majority of it spread across long term savings / investments, easy access savings to cover a hopefully not too distant maternity leave, and have 12 months of bills to one side as a safety net.

I need a new car but would probably get one on HP as I couldnt bring myself to pay £20-£30k outright on a car even if i had £100k spare.

RoLaren · 13/05/2020 18:44

Oh, God, please let a generous reclusive Euromillions winner be reading this thread. Just £10k would change my life 🙏

Shopkinsdoll · 13/05/2020 18:50

Ohh def yes. I’d do my house up, new windows, kitchen, home makeover, conservatory. Holiday in Florida. Then have a few bob left in savings. I’m only on min wage so this world be a dream

lightandshade · 13/05/2020 19:06

10K would absolutely change our life I don't know what I would do 100k

Honeyroar · 13/05/2020 19:09

Yes. It would pay off the mortgage, enable us to finish the desperately overdue DIY we need to do and take the pressure off as I’m about to be made redundant.

JunoJigglewick · 13/05/2020 19:13

It would clear the mortgage. Or could mean we have an investment capital to allow us to emigrate as self employed or investors.

totallyyesno · 13/05/2020 19:19

Yes. I would sell our flat and get a house with a garden.

Ibelieveinyesterday · 13/05/2020 19:24

That would cover my mortgage with 35k to spare! Absolutely life changing amount without a doubt and I'd really think the same even if I earned more (12k max a year due to disability limiting me in a lot of ways)

Alsohuman · 13/05/2020 19:29

Our mortgage is paid off so it would mean a new kitchen and some amazing holidays down the line. I simply don’t believe, whatever your circumstances, that an extra £100k wouldn’t change your life is some way.

TheFlis12345 · 13/05/2020 19:33

It would only change things in that we could buy our own place a bit sooner and probably get a a better rate as it would be a bigger deposit. It takes a lot more than £100k to change your life in London sadly.

MilaRos · 13/05/2020 19:40

Yes in the respect we could get on the housing ladder, but not a life changing amount

TrickyD · 13/05/2020 19:41

When we were very much younger and hard up, yes life changing, Now, not really. We would probably give it to the DCs .

ComfyCosyGood · 13/05/2020 19:47

£20,000 would be life changing for me. I'm currently in a house that looks like crap with not much furniture. That would get me carpet (currently I have concrete and MDF floors), painting and decorating bits, a proper bed for me, a sofa that's actually comfy and make my house properly baby safe. I wish I had that kind of money every day to vastly improve mine and DS's life but I never will unless I win the lottery.

Bananabixfloof · 13/05/2020 19:57

It would pay off the mortgage and give me security that at least the roof over my head would be there. But i couldn't see me giving up work, possibly cutting down hours. After all the roof will need replacing one day.

PrawnSacrifice · 13/05/2020 20:43

It wouldn't change where we live, work or when I retire, so from that perspective, no, not life changing, but the safety net and peace of mind such a cushion would provide would be great if things went properly sour.

DrCoconut · 14/05/2020 17:19

I could pay off my mortgage and buy a second house with £100k. Benefits of living in a post industrial northern town.

SomewhereEast · 14/05/2020 19:54

It would pay off our mortage (we live in a cheap part of the country), so definitely!

SneakersandSocks · 14/05/2020 20:07

Yes, we could pay off our mortgage and we would probably try for another dc without having to worry about how we can afford another one.

Ineverdidmind · 14/05/2020 20:09

Definitely. To loosen the noose round our necks of mortgages and debt would be so freeing.

LucyLocketsPocket · 14/05/2020 20:17

No. I already have more than enough.

Alsohuman · 15/05/2020 08:27

No. I already have more than enough

How lovely for you. In my experience the more you’ve got, the more you want.
