Fixed that tonight out on a run. Somehow tripped over my own feet and went down like a sedation-darted elephant. Now nursing all my bruises and grazes, with a particularly fetching peppa pig plaster on one elbow. FFS.

Please tell me some of you have achieved similar feats of elegance and grace?

Eleven years ago for me. It was winter and I was sneaking out to the bin in my pyjamas and slippers. I didn't realise the pavement was icy and I went flying sideways through the air. I did my pelvis a mischief and had to drag myself back into the house like some sort of two armed snake thing.

Caught my shoe on the hall runner and I went flying, it really felt like slow motion and I actually spread out like super man before full body slamming forcefully onto the floor. Had to lay there for a bit working out how to drag myself up. Lots of bruising.

Forgot to add, this was last year. Still not over it. Got rid of the runners in the hallway.

I somehow tripped while getting on a train once and fell flat on my face. I was wearing slip-on shoes and one dropped down on to the railway tracks so for ages I was just standing there with only one shoe on.

I was carrying heels in my bag so must have put them on eventually.

Everyone was just staring at the floor trying not to laugh. God I'm still mortified.

My OH put a breezeblock just outside our patio doors to make it easier for the little dog to get in as he struggles to climb up the step. I was going into garden with my G&T, forgot the Block was there went flying, landed on my knee, have a massive sores and bruises on my knee, leg and foot, though i did manage to save my G&T and not spill a drop Grin

I’m in the US in a snowy state in the winter and I CANNOT stay upright on ice. My husband and son can walk across it like it’s nothing. Sometimes I call from my car so they can come fetch me from the bottom of the driveway if it’s icy. I’ve slipped so many times on ice and it bloody hurts and I feel like an idiot.

I'm almost 22, I can't remember dates but I last fell both times around a similar time before I went to uni, either, falling off my bike when I came to a bump and into a metal gated fence in front an elderly lady and two lads, mortifying. Or when me and my partner were off into town and I'd insisted on wearing this tiny dress and platform heels and from the hill Down to the town tripped on all of the cobbles an practically went flying x

I do a lot of fell running and have taken a few tumbles. It seems to hurt a lot more and be a lot further to fall when you're an adult.

Earlier this year I stacked it spectacularly in front of a few people and smashed my face right into a huge puddle. Came up drenched and just covered in mud. Also ruined my favourite leggings and still have the marks on my knees three months later!

Aclh13 · 16/05/2020 05:25

I feel your pain embarrassing when you trip up 😂😂

When Ddog was a pup I would get down on my hands and knees he would play bow and we would jump at each other and play tag , all good fun no harm done
I was out walking him and tripped over my own feet I landed on my hands and knees of softish ground - phew not hurt - thinks me until Ddog thinks we are playing tag and leaps at me expecting me to move out of his way but I was still catching my breath so didn't see him coming . He nutted me , bloodied nose split lip and I swear I saw stars !
When I got home DH thought I'd been mugged .
Dogs head must of been bruised too as he did not like his head been touched for the next few days
Ddog was about 10 years old and not played tag for many years ,

I went head over heels in the hospital carpark last August, on my way into my first day of work as a doctor. Blame the slippery-soled new shoes. Cut one knee so badly blood was running down my leg and somehow got all over my not-quite-knee-length skirt Hmm, reduced my tights to shreds and skinned the other knee and the palms of both hands.

We had an induction day so were in the bit of the hospital with seminar rooms etc and no actual medical supplies, and I didn't know where anything else was. Ended up begging a first aid kit to raid off the lovely lady in the coffee shop, cleaning myself up as best as I could in the loo with hand soap and tissue paper, and spent the rest of the day sporting an interestingly bloodstained skirt and several giant blue plasters while meeting everyone for the first time. Have not worn the shoes since!
