What was your first car ?

Inspired by a thread I saw on Twitter, what was yours ? Mine was in 1991 when I was 18, a white Metro X reg (1981) with a bright orange interior. The choke was knackered and the heating didn't work but I loved it.

A Ford Ka - the old model. I passed my test at 18 and only bought a car ten years later. I loved that car. Had it on a finance deal then paid to buy it at the end. Traded it in when it needed major work doing.

Really old, one of the first Ford KA. this was 2006. Despite looking like a cute little dodgem it was heavy as fuck to shift without power steering and a month into ownership the drivers door seized up. It sounded like I had my foot on the accelerator pedal permanently and was trying to be some sort of girl racer despite being a black version of the little tykes car, beloved by all toddlers. Nearly 15 years on I have a very bland, stereotypical family car. It is comfortable, spacious, economical and I am still grateful not to drive a noisy tin can.

A Peugeot 106 in about 1998 ish.

1984 and I had a VW beetle, very old , very cheap and didn’t last very long .

A bright blue Austin Allegro. Would also have been 1985 like DramaAlpaca. I suspect we may be about the same age .

A metallic green L reg (96 I think) Renault Clio. This was in 2006.

A white Fiat Panda with very limited braking capacity in around 1996.

My husband had an Allegro, it was the Vanden Plas version - tres posh !

A sort-of teal blue, B reg. Fiesta in 1986. It had a cassette player which I thought was the height of technological sophistication. Had some lovely adventures in that little car.

Anyone got pics ? Particularly of 80's cars, I don't have one of my metro

A bright red P reg (1997?) Renault Clio. Bought it when I started to learn to drive in 2008, I was 17.

Beige old-style mini. W reg (with the W at the end, not the beginning!). No radio so drove around with my tape player on the passenger seat. Managed to squeeze 7 of us in on one memorable occasion. It was fine until we hit a slight incline and started going backwards.

I passed my test late. I bought myself a black 56 plate ford focus sport. I loved my car. Still do as its still in the family. It was the 1st big purchase I made. I paid 12k for it. Proudest moment of my life. Im sad, I know.

I passed less than 2 years ago so I had a 17 plate smart forfour in metallic orange. Loved it but the glad arrival of DS a few months ago meant it needed to go.
