What was your first car ?

Inspired by a thread I saw on Twitter, what was yours ? Mine was in 1991 when I was 18, a white Metro X reg (1981) with a bright orange interior. The choke was knackered and the heating didn't work but I loved it.

A red F Reg Renault 5, I loved that car!

A yellow Fiat Cinquento Sporting

Mine was bluer, but this one channels the spirit of MN.

My husband's first car was a purple(!) Marina.

A really old Mini in 1978 followed by a Ford Cortina when the Mini died.

A Nova 1.4SR. Loved it!

I bought my first car in late 2010 I think. A T reg (1999) light blue corsa, three door. It had angel eye headlights and flash alloys and it was bit lowered, enough to look cool, not so much as to make me a chav (a serious balancing act back in the day!). I loved her, she was called Darcey.

Old shape Ford Ka. Panther black with matching black plastic bumpers. I lowered it on cheap springs which fucked the suspension up, swapped out my sensible wheels for cheap and nasty Wolfrace alloys, slapped bright pink neons underneath, plastered the doors in bright vinyls that said things like "Girly Girl Racer" and put those twinkly little lights in the washer jets.

It looked like I'd ram raided Halfords and it was FUCKING GLORIOUS.

A brand new Peugeot 206 at age 17 in 2002... crashed it & ripped the front end off four days later... parents were delighted with that one. I haven't had an accident since though & luckily no longer as cocky as I was back then.

Citroen 2CV. About 1984

Passed my test April 2000. My first car was a 1998 Citroen saxo.

Toyota Yaris in 2019. Still have it, it's a lovely car.

A G reg (1990) Peugeot 309 in 1996 that for some unknown reason I managed to convince my dad to get spray painted luminous yellow it was an inoffensive blue. It was the GTI version & I thought I was cool I wasn't

I had friends with blue, red & purple 309's - we looked like the fucking tellytubbies hanging around the local Somerfield car park

Citroen AX, coat £50, had a manual choke and had to pull away in 2nd as 1st didn't work.that was 2001.

Allegro's were hideous, my grandad had one that broke down in Knowsley safari park

A Wartburg Knight Estate in the early 1970s. It was an eastern european box/tank on wheels. It had a 2 stroke engine (like a lawn mower) so every time I filled it up I had to add oil as well. It had a top speed of 60 - but that was only down hill with a following wind.

It was wonderful. Went all over in it. Eventually a bearing went and it sounded even noisier. My ex gave it to his brother (it was still running but the scrap yard didn't want to know). His brother drove it for another 2 years before it finally gave up the ghost.

A ten year old Nissan Bluebird in 2002. Still probably the best car I’ve ever owned, I miss it.

I passed my test in 2007 and got a white P reg Peugeot 106 which I had for about 18 months

1988 silver fiesta. Loved it so much, I can still remember the reg number!
Strangely, 32 years later, I am still driving around in a fiesta!!

In 1990 a black Austin Mini

I had 5 Mini's altogether. 1 caught fire, 1 got wrote off by a learner driver, 1 was stolen, 1 went into a ditch and don't think anything happened to last one

56 reg mini in 2017. I still have it! People warned me that minis were terrible, always breaking and expensive to fix. I've had mine almost three years now and it's given me very little bother however it's starting to look a bit tired now. I shall shed a tear when it goes.

A 16 year old golden yellow Nissan Micra, I finally passed my test just before my 40th birthday and even though it was a hideous colour I flipping loved that car. Bought it for £300 drove it for 18 months and sold it for £250

A turquoise Nissan micra Mauritius. Far too small and impractical for a family of 5 and I spent more on a pushchair to fit than it cost.

But I learnt to drive in it and was a doddle to park.
